Chapter 32 - Arriving at the sisters' house

"It turns out that his strength has improved a lot. In the past, he could only find two or three bags in half a day, but now he can find more than ten bags in less than half a day."

"Sister, he is resentful."

"Yes, it's because our village is so poor and we old men are so incompetent."

At this point, Chiyo squinted at the dozen bags of gold in front of the table and said softly:

"But with these things, we can at least buy enough war reserves for another five thousand ninjas for a month."

"During the First and Second Ninja World Wars, there weren't even this many war supplies prepared in advance."

Rasa strolled through the Sand Village. He did not feel resentful as the siblings imagined.

Although Rasa did have a few complaints, he carried no bitterness.

To be reincarnated into the ninja world and even have a system was already a tremendous blessing.

What else could he possibly be unhappy about?

The Sand Village was poor — so be it.

He had plenty of ways to make the Sand Village rich, though those methods still required time.

The fastest way to make money right now was gold panning.

As for the message he had just left in the office, it wasn't an excuse. It really was an urgent matter.

Ten minutes later, Rasa arrived at a house with a warm and inviting exterior.

Before he could knock, the door opened on its own.

A young girl's beautiful face appeared behind it.

When she saw Rasa standing there, her delicate features lit up with unconcealed surprise.

"Rasa, I just had a sudden feeling in my heart. When I opened the door, it turned out to be you!"

Rasa smiled, holding two bags of fruit in his hands, and stepped inside.

This was the urgent matter he had mentioned earlier.

Yesterday, he and Karura had agreed he would visit her home that afternoon.

Still carrying habits from his previous life, Rasa arrived an hour earlier than planned.

Yasha Rei had been staring at his face, but when she noticed what he was holding, she let out a soft gasp.

She hurriedly took the bags from his hands and said:

"Come if you want to, but why bring two bags of fruit? It makes you seem so distant!"

Rasa only smiled, said nothing, slipped off his shoes, and entered the house.

Although his inner thoughts had changed greatly since his reincarnation — and even some of his bottom lines had vanished — the manners he had practiced for more than twenty years couldn't be discarded overnight.

Unless his relationship with Karura was firmly secure, Rasa wouldn't allow himself to be too casual.

After putting the fruit away, Yasha Rei leaned over and called toward a room:

"Sister, Rasa is here!"

A hurried yet gentle voice answered from inside:

"I know… I know! Rasa, please wait a moment. I'll be right out."

"Fine," Rasa replied casually, unconcerned.

He assumed Karura was changing clothes in her room.

Rasa sat comfortably on the nearby sofa.

The technology of the ninja world always struck him as peculiar — a strange mixture of different eras.

Leaning back with his hands resting lazily at his sides, he asked:

"What's your sister doing?"

Yasha Rei blinked her lively eyes and lowered her voice helplessly:

"She's preparing ingredients for dinner in the kitchen."

Rasa had thought Karura was changing, but she was actually cooking.

He lowered his own voice in surprise:

"It's only just past noon. Why start preparing so early?"

Yasha Rei clapped her hands together as if in frustration.

Glancing toward the closed door, she whispered:

"She's been preparing since morning. It looks like she's planning to make more than a dozen dishes."

"This is too much. I'm not a Taijutsu ninja — I can't eat that much."

Rasa's appetite had indeed grown larger, but the difference was only that he could eat two or three more dishes.

He was nothing like those legendary big eaters.

"I told my sister that, but she wouldn't listen. There's nothing I can do."

"Really, Yasha Rei, what nonsense are you saying?"

Karura's gentle voice came from the room.

Moments later, the door opened and she emerged — breathtakingly beautiful, her expression soft.

Rasa's eyes lit up at the sight.

Outdoors, Karura always wore the standard jonin uniform.

But at home, dressed in plain linen clothes, she looked almost like an ordinary civilian woman — if not for her striking figure and face.

Karura fixed Yasha Rei with a calm gaze.

Though her lips weren't smiling, the warmth in her features made her look incredibly gentle.

Yasha Rei, caught under her sister's eyes, instantly realized her words had been overheard.

She jumped up, hurried to Karura, grabbed her hand, and shook it with a sweet smile:

"I wasn't saying nonsense, I was telling the truth~"

The coy tone sent shivers down Rasa's spine.

Yasha Rei usually came across as a normal Sand Village girl — just more lively than others her age.

He never expected her to act so childishly in front of her sister.

Aside from a quick glance when she first opened the door, Karura's eyes had been focused entirely on Rasa.

When she caught the surprise in his gaze, her fair face flushed red.

She shyly pulled her hand from Yasha Rei's grip and gently scolded:

"You're already grown, yet you still act like a little child making strange noises."

"I've already finished preparing the vegetables and meat in the kitchen. You can take care of the rest."

Yasha Rei immediately lowered her head and walked obediently into the kitchen.

Once the door closed behind her, her posture changed.

Her face no longer showed youthful liveliness but a composed maturity she had never revealed before — not even to her sister.

Everyone has secrets. Yasha Rei was no exception.

She sighed softly, suppressing the emotions swirling in her heart, and whispered:

"Sister, I've created a world of solitude for you."

"Didn't you say yesterday you would take the initiative and fight for your happiness? You must seize the chance."

Though a few years younger than Pakura, Yasha Rei had been raised under her elder sister's guidance.

Her understanding of love was already deeper than Pakura's.

She had been uncertain about her own feelings these past few days.

But after her sister's words yesterday afternoon, she understood her heart — and her feelings for Rasa.

Between the sister who had cared for her since childhood and the man she secretly admired, she couldn't make a choice.

But last night, while chatting with her sister before bed, the conversation had turned to Rasa.

She saw a fiery, almost frenzied light in her intelligent sister's eyes — a light Karura herself hadn't even noticed.

At that moment, Yasha Rei understood her sister's determination.

Her own feelings were far weaker in comparison.

Besides, she had always been cared for by her sister.

If anyone should step back, it was her.

Her heart pounded rapidly, her slender hands clenched so tightly the backs turned pale.

After a long silence, she drew a steady breath.

A faint smile appeared — both sad and happy, sad for herself, happy for her sister.

She tied on a black apron and began working with the ingredients Karura had already laid out.

Meanwhile, the first floor opened into the living room.

Rasa sat stiffly, his hands pressed to his legs, all of his earlier ease gone.
