Chapter 168 - The A–B Duo Flees in Panic, Leaving Onoki Stunned

"How… how is this possible?"

"That was a Tailed Beast Bomb! How could a human withstand it head-on?"

"If it were the Third Raikage, maybe we could understand—but some Uchiha brat? Why?"

"And his taijutsu—it's monstrous!"

"Since when did the Uchiha have taijutsu like this?"

"This Uchiha… something's very wrong!"

"What's worse—he hasn't even used his Mangekyo yet!"

"How are we supposed to fight this?"

The three onlookers muttered to themselves, staring pale-faced at Uchiha Kai, who stood unscathed in the ruins, having taken Eight-Tails' Tailed Beast Bomb without a scratch.

How were they supposed to fight?

Onoki and the A–B Combo had already unleashed their strongest attacks.

Yet none of it could even scratch his defense.

The despair was suffocating.

On the other side, Uchiha Kai's face remained calm.

Gazing at Onoki and the two brothers in the distance, his expression grew more arrogant, more overbearing.

"Damn you…"

"Killer B, you've angered me."

"Mangekyo—open!"

Cold words left his lips.

His rhombus-shaped Mangekyo flared to life. His eyes locked on the Fourth Raikage—activating his ocular technique: Void.

"Arghhh!"

Deprived of chakra flow, A let out a scream.

In an instant, dozens of bloody holes erupted across his body. His flesh began to collapse, unraveling piece by piece.

Only his freakishly durable body allowed him to resist at all.

Had it been anyone else, they would have been reduced to nothing already.

"Ai—what's happening?!" Killer B cried, panicked.

"It's his Mangekyo genjutsu," Onoki barked. "No chakra flow—that must be it! We need to break Kai's focus, interrupt the technique!"

Killer B's face twisted with fury. With a snarl, he launched himself at Kai like a beast unchained.

At the same time, Onoki's hands flew into seals.

Particle Style: Detachment of the Primitive World Jutsu!

BOOM!

A colossal pillar of annihilation screamed toward Uchiha Kai.

He had no choice—Kai was the enemy. Onoki had to support the Raikage.

But even this ultimate jutsu had no effect.

As for Killer B—he froze mid-charge, his body halting unnaturally.

Genjutsu—Mangekyo Sharingan!

In an instant, Kai's eyes drew him into his spiritual world.

A vast lake. In its center—Gyūki, the Eight-Tails.

"Evil Uchiha!" the beast growled.

"Sleep, Gyūki," Kai commanded coldly.

"You… how do you know my true name?" The ox-octopus froze in shock.

That one moment of distraction was enough.

Kai's ocular power pierced its mental defenses.

Gyūki's eyes—reflected the Mangekyo pattern.

Yes.

Kai was no genjutsu master. But the Sharingan itself was genjutsu incarnate. As long as his target faltered even slightly, he could seize control.

Just as Madara once did with the Nine-Tails.

In the outside world—Killer B's eyes shifted, now bearing Mangekyo's tomoe pattern.

"Go," Kai ordered flatly. "Kill the Fourth Raikage."

Without hesitation, B turned and lunged at A.

"What?!" A's face went blank. "Impossible! B is a perfect jinchuriki!"

"Kai's ocular power… it's too strong," Onoki said grimly.

"I'll buy you time—wake B up! You said it yourself, he's a perfect jinchuriki. Even Mangekyo can't easily hold him."

Forming seals, he roared:

Earth Style: Super Weighted Boulder Technique!

BOOM!

The ground shuddered. A crushing weight slammed down on Kai, pinning him hard.

Even Kai himself felt the suffocating pressure.

"Damn you, Onoki!" he snarled, gritting his teeth.

The immense burden weakened his hold over the Mangekyo technique—just enough.

"Ai, wake up!" Onoki shouted.

Inside B's spiritual world, Gyūki fought back furiously.

Truth was—Kai's genjutsu was clumsy.

Any other Uchiha might have held even a perfect jinchuriki for minutes.

But Kai?

Barely ten seconds—and his grip slipped.

"AI!!"

B came to his senses—just two or three steps away from stabbing his own brother.

The realization chilled him to the core.

If he hadn't broken free just now… the consequences were unthinkable.

"B, retreat!" A barked, bloodied and gasping.

"Kai's Mangekyo is too strange—we can't win against him."

"Not until we find his weakness!"

"Withdraw!"

His voice shook. His body was riddled with holes, nearly torn apart.

He could barely stand, relying only on Onoki's pressure to shield him.

If Kai regained full focus… it would all be over.

For the first time, the young Raikage felt real fear.

He had to retreat. He needed his father. They needed another plan.

"This… isn't right, is it?" B hesitated.

If they fled now—what about Onoki?

"Forget it! Hurry!" A roared.

"…Alright."

Without another word, Killer B hefted the battered Raikage onto his shoulders. His speed exploded to the limit.

And the two of them—ran.

Onoki: "..."

He stared blankly as the A–B Combo bolted off the battlefield.

What. The. Hell.

Those bastards… ran off?!

But what about him?

Hidden Stone Village's stronghold was here. Unlike those Cloud shinobi, he couldn't just abandon it all.

His chest nearly burst from rage.

Three of them couldn't handle Kai—now he was alone.

A thousand curses surged in his heart.

Cloud shinobi—heartless dogs!

Cold sweat beaded on Onoki's brow.

He knew the truth well: Hidden Stone Village couldn't withstand Uchiha Kai.

Not against Mangekyo. Both of his village's jinchuriki would be useless.

Wait…

Now that he thought about it, the "intelligence" they'd received had been oddly suspicious.

And the Uchiha… they weren't exactly on good terms with Konoha's leadership, were they?

His eyes darted back and forth.

And then—decision made—Onoki instantly dispelled his weighted jutsu.

Before Kai could strike again, he cleared his throat and called out quickly:

"Erm… Uchiha Kai, was it?"

"Earlier… all a misunderstanding! I'd like to talk."

"You Uchiha and Konoha's elders—don't see eye to eye, right?"

"I think you and I… might have plenty of common ground!"
