The silence of the cavern was deafening in the moments after the ancient dragons presence left them. Both girls stood in a state of disbelief. Luna could feel the turbulent emotions roiling through Violet and was unsure how to go about comforting her. But then she thought back on how she had been comforted in the past and simple hugged her draconic companion. She didn't speak she simply let Violet know that she was here for her in whatever form that may be.
For her part Violet was almost numb, if you had asked her less than 30 minutes ago what she thought about who her parents were she would have said that she didn't know or really cared. After all she had looked after herself from birth and had never even considered what it would be like to have a parent, let alone how she would feel to loose one.
And whilst technically she didn't loose one as her mother was already long dead having to come to terms with the circumstances of her birth and the fact that her mother had practically sacrificed her life to provide Violet with a chance at life. Well she didn't quite know how she wanted to go about processing that just yet.
It took some time before she roused herself from her funk. And bumped her head against Luna's."thank you for being here." She said softly.
Smiling saddly at her companion Luna spoke. "Silly dragon I'm always going to be here. We are companions after all." Having her own words used against her like that caused Violet to snort in amusement.
"Hey that's my line, I'm supposed to be the one that comforts you not the other way around!"
Laughing at that Luna replied. "Hey it was about time that I was able to return the favour. You have always been a rock for me so it's about time that I am able to help you through a tough time." She pulled away from the dragon and gave her a smile. "How are you doing? You don't have to say if you don't want to just yet but I'm here for you if you want to talk about it."
Violet let out a long sigh. "Honestly I'm not sure, I didn't really think I would feel much. I always knew that my parents were likely dead given that I am the last wild dragon but to both see her body and then speak to her ghost all at the same time… it's a lot. But I do know one thing for now."
"Oh what's that?" Luna asked.
"I need to claim my legacy, mum said I should take her ring so I intend to do just that and I can go from there."
"That sounds like a plan." Luna agreed.
And so the two separated and made their was along the gargantuan body of the ancient dragon in search of the aforementioned ring. They eventually did find it but was then faced with a new conundrum. How do you remove a ring from a claw that is over 3 meters tall? The ring itself was larger than Violet's entire body!
Thankfully it turned out to be much simpler than they might have feared. When Violet reached up and touched the ring it glowed before easily sliding off the claw and then it began to shrink and move over to one of violets own claws. It settled on what would be Violet's pointer finger on her front right leg. As the glow of the fing slowly faded away Violet looked at her new jewellery in curiosity and was pleased when a notification popped up before her.
[Dragons Pride - Legendary rarity- This ring was forged in dragon fire using rare metals and imbued with spatial magic. It will resize to fit its wearer. If worn by a dragon will allow for access to a sub space and will provide +10 to Int and Con]
"Wow that's a cool ring!" And indeed it was, the ring itself was made from a golden coloured metal but as soon as Violet wore it veins of void spread through it in a strange geometric pattern that vaugely reminded Violet of some of the patterns that appeared when she activated her new void cannon skill. Maybe it would be worth investigating exactly how that skill worked to see if she could create her own custom skills down the line in a more formal manner than just free forming the mana crudely as she had previously done.
Regardless she knew that would come later and for now she should focus on what was inside of the ring. Sending some of her mana into the subspace connected to it was was awestruck at the size of the space it held. If she was seeing things correctly she could potentially story this entire mountain within the ring. She blinked in genuine stupefaction at the sheer vastness of the space this simple little ring held… well she supposed simple is not quite the right word to describe the ring now is it.
Shaking her head at the amount of space she now held she instead focused on what was currently stored within and felt a small smile split her lips. The first thing she noticed was a small hill of treasure. From gems to fancy metals and more, it was a true hoard that dwarfed her in size, heck it probabally dwarfed her mum in size! That thought put a temporary downer on her mood but she shook her head and got back to investigating.
There seemed to be a whole second dedicated to books, scrolls and parchments and quickly taking one out she tried to look it over and came to a conclusion. "Yep I canny read that! Can you Luna?"
Luna looked over her shoulder as the piece of parchment. "Hmm no I don't recognise that language, are they all written in that language?" Humming to herself Violet mentally leafed through some more of the writings and sighed when she realised that they were all written in that same language. Moving on from that treasure trove of unreachable information. She looked over what else lay within.
She spotted a second dedicated to clothing, from dresses to sleep ware to more practical outfits it would appear that their was an outfit for every occasion. Then next to that section was a full armoury with dozens of different armour sets, from leather all the way to full plate. Finally their was only one section more that integrated her, and it attested to be all related to food. Barrels of salt, pepper and countless spices and seasonings were laid out in neat piles, at first violet didn't quite appreciate them but when asking Luna about what they were the girls eyes lit up with delight. "You have spices! Oh we can actually cook now! Thank the gods!" This caused Violet to perk up, after all if Luna was saying that they could only now properly cook, then how good will food be going forward?
