Third POV
The butler looked between them, clearly confused about what was happening.
"Leave us…" Varken commanded her, but she remained there, bewildered.
"I was instructed to escort her to her room," she defended herself, but this only fueled Varken's anger further. But all the butler could think about is leaving the vulnerable woman in the hands of the cruel Alpha.
Words of his cruelty had traveled far and wide and everyone knew who he really was.
"Get the hell out of here!" he snapped, using his authoritative alpha tone, which startled her and made her flee in the opposite direction.
"Diana…" he called again, addressing the woman who had turned her back to him. She pressed against the wall, wishing it were all just a figment of her imagination, hoping he would vanish so she could convince herself it was all in her head. However, when she turned to look at him, he was still there, just as perplexed as she was.
