Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Last member of Skywing Race?

Chapter 82: Last member of Skywing Race?

Meanwhile, Serie caught that Olivia had said "the true goddess" instead of simply "the goddess." After everything they'd witnessed, her exact words mattered.

"What oracle?" Norn asked from the side, his hand gripping his weapon's hilt.

Olivia pulled out a faintly glowing holy scripture from her embrace, warm and bright: "By the oracle of the true goddess, I have come to heal the fated one of the future, Kurtz, the one who pulled out the Orger, Sword of Divine Authority."

"What a joke!?" Eric raised his longsword.

He completely disbelieved that these bird people could be so kind!

They'd been fighting to the death minutes ago, yet now she wanted to shake hands and make peace. How could such an absurd thing happen in the world?

"We received a false oracle, which led us to be your enemies, but now, I sincerely wish to help you!" Olivia's voice cracked.

Olivia's tone was very sincere, but no one believed her. Their recent battle wounds were too fresh, and trust seemed impossible.

After all, Kurtz was too important to their team; it could be said that without him, there would be no team.

Everyone found it hard to believe that the Olivia in front of them had truly come to heal Kurtz under the goddess's command.

What if she was lying?

She could be using the excuse of a true or false goddess, but in reality, the true oracle was to kill Kurtz?

"Let her come over," Serie suddenly said. "If she dares to make any rash moves, I will kill her immediately."

Mana surged around Serie, showing she was completely serious. Magic filled the air. Once Olivia dared to do anything out of line, Serie would truly act immediately.

Olivia nodded gratefully in response, limping to Kurtz's bedside. Each step hurt, her remaining wing shaking as she tried to keep balance.

She opened the holy scripture with trembling hands and began to cast the most ancient healing magic.

Surprisingly, the light from the holy scripture was no longer the Skywing Clan's characteristic white light, but a soft golden glow. The change was immediately noticeable, warmer, more genuine than anything they'd seen from the Skywing forces before.

As Olivia cast the magic, the sacred mana on Kurtz's wound slowly purified, his breathing gradually stabilised, and colour returned to his face. The blackened veins that had spread from his injury slowly faded, replaced by healthy pink skin.

"This is?" Serie noticed that the healing magic Olivia released was different, at least not like those she had seen before. She was curious despite the circumstances.

"The original text of holy magic." Olivia held up the holy scripture in her hand, her grip shaky but reverent. "It records all holy-type magic."

As soon as Olivia finished healing, she immediately spat out a mouthful of blood and almost fell to the ground. But Serie quickly supported her, feeling how light and fragile the warrior had become.

"You are severely injured." Serie frowned, checking her wounds.

She remembered that when the Skywing Clan retreated, she was one of the few Thirteen Council members who were not too severely injured; at least her wings were still intact at that time.

But now, only one side remained.

"What exactly happened?"

Seeing that Kurtz had been healed, everyone's guard against her temporarily lowered. However, Eric still kept a close eye on her every move, ready for action at a moment's notice.

Tears ran down Olivia's face: "The Skywing Race… My race is finished!"

She recounted the Skywing Clan's experiences of the past week, her voice breaking with each revelation.

After being defeated head-on by Kurtz, the Skywing Clan army prepared to return to the Divine Kingdom, but they encountered a demon ambush on the way.

Even more terrifying, those demons were actually able to use their Skywing Clan's God Strike. With just one strike, the Skywing Clan legion, famous throughout the continent, was annihilated.

"A thousand Skywing Clan Warriors… only a dozen or so survived…" Olivia's voice choked. "In the Thirteen Council… only I am left."

The loss was devastating. Almost everyone was dead.

"The demons can use God Strike!?" Norn asked incredulously. "How is this possible?"

Olivia closed her eyes in pain: "I don't know either, but that's the truth, and the demons' God Strike is even more destructive. It's a dark power that can erode everything…"

She couldn't finish her sentence and suddenly coughed violently, blood seeping from between her fingers. Each cough shook her.

Serie quickly checked her injuries, and her expression became unusually grave.

"Ruptured internal organs, mana depletion… It's a miracle that you're alive and made it here."

Olivia smiled weakly: "I must obey the goddess's command." She handed the holy scripture to everyone with trembling hands. "This… must be given to the one chosen by Orger."

The original text, which recorded all of the Skywing Clan's sacred magic, was now laid before everyone. Even Serie looked moved by what this meant.

Just then, Kurtz's eyelids trembled slightly, and he slowly opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw was Serie and her group, and Olivia of the Skywing Clan.

Before Kurtz could misunderstand, Norn quickly explained what happened, carefully explaining the unexpected situation.

Kurtz remained silent for a long time after listening, processing not just the words but their implications.

He didn't feel he had done anything wrong. At that time, to survive, he could only be an enemy of the Skywing Clan.

And now, the Skywing Clan was first severely wounded by him, then ambushed by the demons. The entire army was almost completely wiped out; they were utterly finished.

The Skywing Clan was like a useful chess piece; once it had no value, it would be abandoned by that false goddess. The pattern was becoming clear.

"This is…" Kurtz saw the holy scripture in Olivia's hand and asked in a hoarse voice.

"The Skywing Clan's original holy scripture, which records all sacred magic. The goddess has bestowed this original text upon you and awaits your arrival in the Godfall Land."

Only when Kurtz took the original text did Olivia breathe a sigh of relief. Her aura also grew weaker and weaker: "The goddess said… the current Orger cannot completely slay a god yet; it still needs the power of the Sacred Authority Sword Atos."

After saying this, Olivia could no longer hold on and knelt before Kurtz.

She was already severely injured; it was a miracle that she managed to reach Kurtz, let alone the fact that she had squeezed out her last bit of mana to heal him.

Her life was now like a candle in the wind.

"Sacred Authority Sword Atos?" Kurtz had not heard of this holy sword, so he looked at Serie, hoping her vast knowledge might provide answers.

"It is a secret holy sword of the Elf Forest. It is said that only a true saint can pull it out."

Serie had tried to pull out this holy sword before, but she failed. The memory still stung, though she kept that to herself.

Kurtz opened the holy scripture. This Skywing Clan member, as the only remaining one who knew the truth, could not die yet.

"The Skywing Clan's holy scripture is encrypted with sacred magic; it must be deciphered using the power of faith to learn the magic within," Serie reminded him, her knowledge surfacing.

The Skywing Clan's holy scripture was essentially an encrypted magic book, but only the Skywing Clan knew how to decrypt it.

Even if Kurtz's talent was outstanding, it would be impossible for him to learn the magic in the holy scripture immediately.

"No, this original text has no encryption whatsoever."

In Kurtz's eyes, he could understand all the words on the original text in his hand; there was no need for decryption at all. The script seemed to shift and flow, rearranging itself into familiar characters.

"Let me see!" Serie quickly leaned over, but from her perspective, the words in the original text were like strange symbols. "What on earth is going on?"

It was strange what Kurtz saw clearly; she only saw some symbols she couldn't read.
