Chapter 131: Stage Two — The Goddess Embraces Darkness
The Goddess's shrill shriek was like a tangible sound wave, causing the entire space to hum.
She clutched her shot-through right eye, black-red divine blood gushing from between her fingers, flowing down her cheek and dripping onto the twisting, writhing vines below, emitting sizzling corrosive sounds.
The pain was not just physical.
The power of faith clashed violently with the defilement of darkness within her, bringing a tearing sensation that reached the very root of her soul.
"You dare to harm this body!!!"
The Goddess's roar was no longer just anger, but hysterical madness.
These ants had caused such severe injuries to the Life Goddess's body, pushing her fury to its absolute limit.
How dare they!
How dare they harm this body of the Goddess!
These ants all deserved to die!!!
And this fury completely ignited her divinity, which had already been violent after being corrupted by darkness.
"Now! Full attack!"
Kurtz did not hesitate, continuing to issue commands to everyone.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity; a deity being wounded meant her power would inevitably waver.
Olivia fully spread her wings, channelling the magic within her to release healing magic for everyone, and Eric's severe injuries steadily improved.
Kurtz and Somo, holding the Holy Sword and battle-axe, leapt up, attempting to interrupt the Goddess's roar.
A massive magic circle instantly formed beneath Serie's feet, releasing the Elves' highest-grade magic, aimed precisely at the Goddess's right eye, from which divine blood flowed.
However, just as all the attacks were about to reach the Goddess's body—
"All of you! Get! Out! Of! My! Way!!!"
The Goddess suddenly lifted her head, and an oppressive dark light erupted from her remaining left eye.
An indescribable, terrifying pressure suddenly descended!
It was many times stronger than when she was previously bound!
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The God's Lock, composed of the power of faith and encircling her, groaned under the sudden impact of this erupting dark divine power.
The God's Lock reappeared, with dense cracks instantly spreading across its surface, and its light rapidly dimmed.
"Not good! The restraint is loosening!!" Kurtz's heart pounded.
He clearly felt that Atos's light was nearing its limit under the Goddess's immense power, and even the purest power of faith was being frantically corroded by this erupting dark divine power.
Evidently, the Goddess was forcefully breaking free from her shackles.
And the price was that she completely abandoned her last shred of remaining divinity, surrendering herself entirely to darkness.
Boom—!!!
Centred on the Goddess, a visible shockwave, mixed with foul black mud, exploded.
This shockwave repelled everyone's attacks. The entire space shook violently, as if it would completely collapse the next second.
"Tsk."
Kurtz held Orger in front of his chest, barely managing to steady himself with the light of the Holy Sword, but his face turned extremely grim.
He looked up at the centre of the impact, his eyes widened instantly.
He saw the Goddess's figure undergoing a terrifying transformation not far away.
The arm covering her eye dropped powerlessly, revealing the eye socket from which divine blood started to flow.
But this was just the beginning.
Her originally sacred and beautiful body began to melt gradually, her lower body directly transforming into viscous, ominous-smelling black mud.
Her upper body barely maintained a humanoid shape, but her skin also turned a sickly grey-black, covered in cracked patterns.
She no longer resembled a deity, but rather a demon that had crawled out from a foul abyss.
"Anzts, arll off youu skhall be dezztroyeed!"
A hoarse and wailing voice emanated from her mouth, echoing in the crumbling space.
The Goddess's second stage — Goddess Embraces Darkness!
"Is this how a deity completely devoured by darkness looks?"
Olivia looked up at the blasphemous scene before her, her voice trembling slightly.
Not far from her, Eric struggled to his feet again; the injuries on his chest had barely healed under the healing magic, but the lingering dark corrosive power still caused him faint pain.
"She has grown even stronger!" Serie wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth, her expression more solemn than ever.
She could feel that the dark magical power emanating from the opponent was far stronger than before, by several times.
This was still with Kurtz's God's Lock suppressing her; without this restraint, that would be true divine might, something mortals could not contend with.
Even this current power, defensive magic, would look like a fragile paper before it.
"The Gods' Lock can't hold much longer!"
Kurtz, however, stared intently at the golden chains on the Goddess, whose light was beginning to dim, his heart sinking to the bottom. The shackles formed by the power of faith were being frantically assaulted by dark divine power; disintegration was only a matter of time.
Once the chains shattered and the Goddess fully recovered her divine power, coupled with this terrifying dark form, the consequences would be even more unimaginable.
"We must defeat her before she breaks free from the chains!"
"Okay, let's do it!"
Norn gritted his teeth, his arm still trembling from forcefully releasing Kurtz's magic. The miracle of that last arrow would be difficult to replicate again.
Athos's power of faith was also almost exhausted; next, they could only fight with all their might!
"Die!!!"
The Fertility Goddess, completely fallen into darkness, roared, and countless thick black vines, like a black tsunami, lashed fiercely at everyone from different directions!
Their speed and power were far greater than before.
This time, the dark power even arrived before the vines themselves, coiling around everyone's bodies, slowing down the speed at which they could cast spells.
And Olivia's Holy Light was instantly suppressed, its range rapidly shrinking.
"Scatter first! Don't take those attack head-on!"
Kurtz commanded while swinging Orger, its light surging, transforming into a massive light blade that slashed at one of the thickest vines.
The light blade cut into the tentacle, erupting with a piercing hissing sound, and the vine was directly severed in two, while the immense impact numbed Kurtz's arm.
Serie floated in the air, dodging a sweeping vine, and at the same time released magic, countless Light Spears raining down on the Goddess.
She attempted to freeze the opponent's body to slow down the Goddess's attacks.
However, those Light Spears were easily swallowed by the black mud barrier she released when they were still several meters from the Goddess's body, leaving no trace.
"It's Useless! Her power is too strong; ordinary magic has no effect on her!" Serie's heart sank.
Olivia became the Goddess's primary target.
She was distracted for a moment, unable to dodge in time, and a vine bypassed everyone's defence, piercing her wing.
The sacred feathers were instantly defiled, stained with ominous darkness, and a cold, malicious corrosive sensation began to spread along her wing, causing her to stagger.
"Olivia!" Kurtz immediately acted upon seeing this, helping her block the attacks of the other vines.
Fortunately, as a creation of the Life Goddess, Olivia possessed a certain resistance to this kind of erosion.
It was at this moment that Kurtz noticed something unusual.
