Chapter 139: I'll Find You a Companion
The struggle in Kraft's eyes gradually settled, turning into a heavy determination.
He accepted this cruel mission, both to free Eric and to repay that promise.
Kurtz watched him nod, and a weight was lifted from his heart, but he estimated that Kraft's strength was not enough right now.
Not to mention him, even Kurtz's current strength wouldn't be enough if he didn't use Orger.
Unless he was given some time to set up a super-large magic array and then unleash a burst of magic on the Demon King's City, which he could do.
But the condition was that the demons in the Demon King's City weren't blind.
Fortunately, he had already prepared for this.
Kurtz reached into the bag beside him, fumbled for a moment, and took out an inconspicuous object.
It was a disc about the size of his palm, with complex runes engraved on its surface, looking like some magic tool made by dwarves.
"Take this, Kraft." Kurtz handed over the disc.
Kraft took the disc, carefully examining the intricate runes on it: "What is this? It looks like some kind of magic tool?"
"It's not wrong to call it a magic tool, but be careful, this thing is very fragile." Kurtz didn't immediately explain in detail, only emphasizing, "Keep it safe. When you arrive at the Demon King's City or stand before Eric, you can inject magic into it to activate it."
Kraft weighed the small disc and pressed, "And then what happens after it is activated?"
Kurtz showed a slightly mysterious smile: "Well… that's a secret for now. You'll know when the time comes. Just consider it a backup plan I've left to ensure everything goes smoothly."
"Another secret?" A cold voice, filled with clear dissatisfaction, appeared in their conversation.
Serie stood with her arms crossed, looking at Kurtz with a hint of scrutiny.
She took a step forward, stood in front of Kurtz, and looked up. Although she was looking up, her aura was not weak at all: "You, you've been like this, hiding things, ever since before the final battle.
"And even now, you're still playing these tricks on Kraft?" Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable firmness, "Explain clearly, what exactly does this magic tool do? I want to know!"
Kurtz looked at Serie's huffing expression and felt the same questioning gaze from Kraft beside him, instantly feeling a headache.
"Alright, alright, elf miss has spoken, how dare I disobey." Kurtz raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, his mysterious smile turning into a reassuring one, "Actually, it's just a teleportation array."
"Teleportation array?" Kraft looked at the disc in his hand in surprise.
When did dwarven technology become so advanced?
He had never heard of it!
And shouldn't such a large teleportation array require a lot of magic to activate?
This palm-sized disc in front of him didn't look like it at all.
"Kurtz, is this thing really a teleportation tool?"
"Mm," Kurtz nodded, explaining: "Actually, I just compressed a teleportation spell into this device. It's barely a magic tool, but it is quite unstable and can't withstand too strong an impact."
"Uh…" Kraft's hand holding the disc froze. "What if it is accidentally triggered?"
"Oh, don't worry about that. Even if it's accidentally activated prematurely, it will only send me directly over."
"I see." Kraft breathed a sigh of relief. No wonder Kurtz emphasized that he should only use it when he was in front of the Demon King. So that was what it was about.
After hearing Kurtz's explanation, the dissatisfaction in Serie's eyes lessened slightly, but her doubts were not completely dispelled: "It only teleports you? Does it have no other use?"
"Theoretically, it's just a teleportation effect." Kurtz answered vaguely, "After all, it's me… um, it's made by combining some special techniques. Of course, it can only be used once, so it must be used at the most critical moment."
Kraft suddenly understood Kurtz's intention: "Is this what you just said, that you will deliver the final blow?"
"Exactly." Kurtz affirmed, "I must deliver the final blow. This is my… final promise to him."
"I understand."
Meanwhile, Serie stared at Kurtz for a few seconds, seemingly judging the truthfulness of his words.
She always felt that this man was still hiding something from her, but she also wondered if it was her own illusion.
Finally, she let out a soft "hmph," indicating that she reluctantly accepted the explanation.
"Does my elf miss want to come along?" Kurtz looked at Serie with a grin.
"No!" Serie directly refused, completely unaware of the phrase 'my elf miss' from Kurtz's mouth. Her cheeks carried just the faintest hint of color.
"Alright, it looks like it will just be 'me alone' then."
Kurtz secretly breathed a sigh of relief, finally having fooled the elf miss.
After all, he had concealed the most crucial point: when this teleportation array was activated, it was highly likely that he wouldn't be the only one teleported over.
To be precise, it would teleport itself, a certain individual with whom he had a life contract, and the area where that individual was located.
And that individual was currently recuperating in the Divine Kingdom. At that time, the Divine Kingdom would descend above the Demon King's City.
But it was too early to say anything now, so he would save it for then.
Kraft solemnly put the disc into his pocket, then looked at Kurtz and asked a very important question.
"Kurtz, although I really want to know how you will send Eric off in the end, there's a crucial problem.
The Demon King's City has gathered all the remaining monsters and demons from the entire continent. There are countless powerful demons, and it would probably be a bit difficult for me to kill my way to the Demon King alone."
Kurtz showed an "I've already arranged it" expression, "You won't be alone. I've already found a companion for you, a powerful Holy Order. You two will travel together, look out for each other, and together become heroes who save the world!"
"Holy Order?"
Serie immediately thought of the figure with pure white wings, "Is it Olivia? Does she also know about Eric?"
If Olivia and Kraft were together, with her strength, she would indeed be a strong reinforcement.
Kurtz, however, shook his head: "It's not Olivia. She has already completed her mission; it's someone else."
He continued to add, "This Holy Order is also one of the members of the Thirteen Council from back then. Her strength is very powerful, and she has an extremely strong restraining effect on the dark power of demons."
"Thirteen Council members?" Serie looked at Kurtz in confusion.
She remembered that Olivia was the only remaining member of the Thirteen Council, wasn't she?
Where did another one pop out from!?
