Su MeiMei left the Peach village after meeting her grandparents and went back home.
Luckily Qian village was only few hours of walk and by carriage half of the time.
She was at home long before noon and was greeted by family.
Just like Su Fei said, they indeed loved her. Including her sisters-in-law and her nephews. They cheerily waited for her to come down and even neighbors arrived and clan elder.
She explained in detail what happened do far and how Prince Wei promised to clear her name and everyone was amazed and happy.
"Not only that, Prince Wei paid for embroidery hundreds of silver taels, but because we happen to be in contact with Prince Wei, the thee of us got a bit more. I got fifty silver taels." She took silk bag she embroidered herself and gave her grandfather.
Fifty silver taels. Everyone in courtyard started chatting at the same time. This much can feed a commoner family for years.
Many that had doubts about her propriety had only silver in their eyes and changed their mind. They can justarry her first and teach her soon after how to behave.
If Su Fei knew that some people had such ideas she would have beaten them up and Su clan might have broken their legs for doing stupid things.
Su MeiMei later spoke to her father and mother only and told them about the one golden peanut honestly. Not all eight.
"Do you trust that girl?" Her father asked.
"Yes. Father. She is richer then you can ever imagine. Not only that. She became feiwnd with princess Mingzhu. Officially. To her one golend nugget so nothing. I left it with her as some things might cause problems even in our family. Father, didn't you realize that grandma took all fifty taels I had, left me only half and the other half literally gave my uncle?"
Her father got silent. He was filial child to the bone, but even he felt quite hurt when he saw this blatant move. "Yes. If you brought the golden nugget, you wouldn't see it ever again. Child, I can see you got wiser with years. Filial piety on our world is heavy burden. I hope in future you can find family that won't treat you badly."
Su MeiMei chuckled. "Father, Su clan is not paper tiger. Even if my three cousins are now new femalea in our clan, elders wouldn't let me be harmed. Any possible husband of mine would be fully investigated. If they had any malice towards me, I fear no one can save them. Grandpa said mother had hundreds of offers but they chose you as you have soft nature and even if grandma is a bit greedy and has preference, she never touched mother's dowry and asks only half of what she earned. Mother never washed clothes, never went to rear animals or gather grains. Actually, whole family is treating mother quite well. If I get husband that is the same I'll be fine. The golden nugget is only my backup plan in case my husband turns bad and divorces me. But with my skills I can literally live comfortably like mom."
Her mother softly patted her head.
Her soft, white hands showed no signs of hard work. Even her mother-in-law stops her sometimes feomw oeking you much as she might loose eyesight and that would be bad for whole family.
Even with the half of money she saved she build houses for her two sons, got them good wives and gave them good brides money.
Even after all that, she has enough money to live comfortably to end of her life. Her son's are good children and adore their mother, her husband never let her do any heavy work and even her in-laws knowing that she give almost of money into household knew she actually was the one that supports the family and appreciated that.
But taking half down her daughters money to pay her brother-in-law gambling debts is something that made her think about something her mother-in-law asked her while ago.
"Husband, mother-in-law actually asked me if I would be willing to separate households. Father-in-law was there as well. They plan doing that as house became to full. Oldest son will inherit house and half of land. You and your brothers will share the rest."
Su MeiMei almost wanted to puke blood. "So...mother. Uncle will inherit house. Including rooms you built for brothers?"
The two people became silent. How did they forget that their rooms they built was inside this household.
This is gonna be tricky.
So it's all for those rooms?
This time the two got angry but after Su MeiMei told them about her plan she suddenly had in mind, they could only grit their teeth and agree.
Next day the family gathered and separated households. As expected all room so side household became ownership of the oldest son that had duty to take care of his parents until end of their lives.
The other sons had duty to send to their parents five hundred coins yearly.
Qian Feng got a small parcel on edge of the forest and exchanged with village elder with a big parcel in next village that was up in the mountain.
What no one expected was that this village was actually where Qinqin lives and was actually their first neighbor.
Luckily their parents agreed to elt them stay until new house was built and no one complained.
When they finally finished their home was almost winter time. They got only part of the food and that's it.
Not one chicken, not open pig not one egg.
Su MeiMei sat on kitchen with her family in silence and was almost angry when she suddenly heard ound of carriages outside.
When their family came out, three carriages appeared.
One was filled with bags, one had pots and one had people on it.
Her grandfather came with his family, the supplies and two more people.
Su Fei and Su Yue.
The pantry quickly became full, the men of Su clan rushed inside forest to cut few dozen dry trees for firewood and whole Fu village helped as Su Fei paid them but told them not to tell anyone.
Of course they wanted new neighbors to keep their face so they rushed to help and by later afternoon the house was filled with food, firewood and the family dizzily sat by travel that was prepared by Su Fei.
"Mother, who is she?"
"Someone we must respect, my son. Even i as older person can't disrespect her in future when you meet her, protect her. Even with your life. Understood?"
Her husband might be bound but she wasn't. She knew this girl was the reason all the supplies came on time as her father told her.
They didn't expect Qian family to let them leave with just few bags of food and sewing almost empty pantry realized why Su Fei made fuss.
That girl had amazing foresight.
