Chapter 172 - Forging

Eitri wasn't surprised by Meng Ran's words. He could see that Meng Ran was ambitious and driven to become stronger, so this outcome didn't surprise him.

"I understand," Eitri said to Meng Ran, looking at Cloud Cutter, which appeared quite miniature in his hands.

"Follow me," Eitri said, motioning for Meng Ran and Thor to follow.

The two followed behind Eitri. After passing several construction sites, they finally arrived in front of a giant Forge.

This Forge was much taller than Eitri and appeared enormous.

Eitri first tossed the Uru Metal into the Forge. Then, he gently suspended Cloud Cutter above it.

Meng Ran and Thor stood not far from the Forge, watching Eitri's actions.

They'd never seen the weapon-making process either, so they were curious and watched intently, not missing a single detail.

After Eitri finished these preparations, he picked up a square object from a nearby table.

As he carried it over, he explained to the two onlookers, "This is the mold I just made while you were making your choices."

"In a moment, I will channel the energy of the Star into this Forge, and then use it to melt all the Uru Metal inside into liquid."

"This metal is incredibly strong and difficult to forge. Only by utilizing the energy of an entire Star can it be melted, and then poured into the mold to cool."

"Some Runes and symbols are also carved on the mold. These are unique Dwarves' forging techniques that can fully bring out the properties of the Uru Metal."

As Eitri spoke, he turned a handle nearby. With the handle's movement, a dazzling beam of light shot out from the burning Star near the star ring.

This beam of light passed through a series of special devices and then shot directly into the bottom of the Forge containing the Uru Metal.

The massive Forge instantly turned red, radiating intense heat.

Feeling the heat, Meng Ran and Thor both took a few steps back. Although the heat wouldn't harm them, it was still uncomfortable.

While the Uru Metal was melting, Eitri continued speaking to Meng Ran and Thor.

"Where was I? Oh, right, the Runes."

"The Runes were born with the Dwarves, gifts and talents bestowed upon them by the heavens."

"These Runes can communicate with elemental energy. When inscribed on tools, they not only grant weapons the ability to communicate with the elements, but also enhance their strength and make them sharper."

"Is that all?" After listening to Eitri, Thor was silent for a moment before suddenly asking.

"Is that all!?" Eitri's eyes widened, as if he couldn't believe his ears.

His voice rose a few degrees, and he looked at the somewhat bewildered Thor and said loudly, "Do you know how precious these things are to a weapon without a soul?"

"The reason why the Dwarves' weapons are the most powerful weapons in the universe is because of these characteristics."

"Do you think all weapons are like your hammer, or like your father's spear?"

It was the first time Thor had seen Eitri like this, and he realized that he seemed to have said the wrong thing, so he quickly apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I was just talking nonsense, I don't really understand."

Meng Ran saw Thor's reaction and immediately felt a chill in his heart, because his thoughts had been the same as Thor's just now, but he hadn't said them out loud, while Thor had blurted them out.

In fact, he hadn't known what was so special about the weapons made by the Dwarves before, he just thought that everyone said their weapons were very strong, so he held a certain amount of expectation.

After coming here, listening to Eitri's explanation, he also unconsciously raised his expectations, which was why he had taken Eitri's words for granted just now, because he had originally thought there would be other particularly powerful features.

Eitri shrugged helplessly after hearing Thor's apology, then sighed and said, "It doesn't matter, actually, I should have thought of it a long time ago. After all, you've grown up in Asgard since you were a child, and you've seen very powerful divine weapons and sharp instruments."

Eitri climbed back onto the Forge after speaking, checking the melting state of the metal inside.

After examining the contents, he came back down and continued to speak to Thor and Meng Ran, "It will take a while longer to completely melt."

Then, looking at Thor, he continued, "In fact, besides the 'mediocre' effects you mentioned, those Runes have another function."

"However, the circumstances in which this function can be utilized are very rare, and the number of successful weapons over the years is also very few."

Meng Ran was also immediately intrigued upon hearing Eitri's words. He exchanged a glance with Thor and asked, "What exactly is this function?"

Eitri, hearing their curious questions, nodded in satisfaction, thinking to himself.

That's right, they should be curious like this. No one can help but be astonished and admire the Dwarves' powerful forging technology.

After enjoying a moment of their curious gazes, Eitri didn't answer their question, instead turning and returning to the Forge.

Seeing Eitri's actions, Meng Ran and Thor were speechless.

Why would someone like to speak halfway? It's so annoying; their curiosity had just been piqued.

"So, what exactly does it do?" Thor clearly couldn't stand it, so he asked Eitri again.

Eitri seemed not to have heard Thor's question. He looked at the melting of the Uru Metal in the Forge, then said to them, "It's melted now; all that's left is the final step."

Seeing Thor's face full of curiosity, he continued, "Don't bother with that function; it hasn't succeeded more than a handful of times in all this time, so there's no need to talk about it."

"We should focus on this blade for now."

Thor was clearly dissatisfied with this answer. He was about to open his mouth to ask more, but Meng Ran patted his shoulder and said softly, "Forget it, let's drop it for now. We shouldn't disturb him."

Thor nodded helplessly after hearing Meng Ran's words. Compared to the feature that was only half-explained, the blade was the most important thing.
