Chapter 185 - The Ship Hijacking Incident

Life returned to normal after Christmas, and the members of the Hexagram Alliance were all back to their duties, busy with their respective work and research.

While the Hexagram Alliance was busy, Nick Fury wasn't idle either.

Over a month after Christmas, while investigating Hydra spies within S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury finally found some leads. A certain ship caught his attention.

This ship was a mobile satellite launch platform, and the satellite it launched was called the Lemuria Star.

This satellite was related to a very important recent S.H.I.E.L.D. project - the Insight Project.

S.H.I.E.L.D. had newly built three new-generation Sky Carriers, which would synchronize with the aforementioned Lemuria Star satellite network.

These three Sky Carriers utilized new anti-gravity engines, which allowed them to maintain continuous sub-orbital flight, never needing to land once they were airborne.

They would work in coordination with the Lemuria Star launched into space, which could instantly read the DNA information of terrorists and criminals.

This powerful targeting system, combined with the Sky Carrier's new weapons systems, can eliminate threats the moment they appear.

The plan has already been approved by the World Security Council and will be implemented in stages over the coming period.

Once all the steps are completed, the plan can begin, and the three Sky Carriers will become the nightmare of all criminals.

Nick Fury was carefully examining the arrangements and information regarding this satellite launch platform. His instincts, honed by years of service as an agent, told him that there was something he didn't know about the arrangements and the plan.

He closed his one eye and thought quietly.

After a moment, he opened his eyes and picked up a phone to start making his plans.

Two days later, Washington, D.C., S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters, the Triskelion.

At this moment, Nick Fury was drinking coffee in his office, but the sudden ringing of his communicator interrupted his leisure time.

Agent Hill's voice came through the comms. "Director, one of our ships in the Indian Ocean has been hijacked. It was in the process of launching the Lemuria Star."

Hearing Agent Hill's voice, Nick Fury sat up straight and asked seriously, "How's the satellite launch going?"

Agent Hill quickly replied, "The satellite launch is fine. Before the hijacking, the last satellite had just been successfully launched."

"Those pirates are demanding 1.5 billion dollars in exchange for the ship."

After reporting the situation, Agent Hill sent some detailed information about the pirates to Nick Fury's desk.

Nick Fury looked at the information on the table, thought for a moment, and quickly arranged through the comms, "Have Romanoff find Steve. The two of them, plus a special ops team, will go on the rescue mission."

"Understood!" Agent Hill responded to Nick Fury's order and immediately began contacting Natasha.

Half an hour later, Nick Fury picked up the phone on his desk and dialed Natasha's number.

"Director, any further instructions?" Natasha answered the phone quickly, then asked Nick Fury.

Apparently, she had just received her mission from Agent Hill.

After hearing Natasha's voice, Nick Fury said in a deep voice, "Do you understand the mission Hill sent you?"

"Yes," Natasha replied promptly after hearing Nick Fury's question.

"Good," Nick Fury continued after hearing Natasha's reply, "Now forget that mission. That mission is for Rogers. Your mission is now under my arrangement."

"Understood." As a professional agent, Natasha had no objections to Nick Fury's arrangements.

"After you get on that ship, go to the information archive. You need to back up all the files on the ship, and then bring them back to me," Nick Fury told Natasha about the details of her mission.

"Understood," Natasha replied immediately after listening.

After giving Natasha her mission, Nick Fury hung up the phone.

He leaned back in his chair and turned to look at the scenery outside. Through the glass, he could see the general structure of the Triskelion headquarters.

The sky over Washington was clear at this moment, and the wide lake outside reflected the warmth of the winter sun, shimmering in the light.

When the temperature warmed up in a while, the various trees and flowers planted along the roads below would also bloom, and the scenery would be even more beautiful then.

Although the weather outside was very sunny, Nick Fury didn't have the mood to care about these things at the moment.

What he was thinking about now were the Hydra spies and the monster situation.

He hoped that on that satellite-launching ship, he could find some clues. He desperately needed such clues to break the deadlock.

At the same time, on the other side, after receiving Natasha's message, Steve, who was exercising, also said goodbye to his new friend.

Afterward, he got into the sports car Natasha was driving, and the two of them quickly headed to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s airport to carry out the mission.

The mission went smoothly. After they flew to the target location in the Atlantic Ocean in the Quinjet, Captain America and the special forces team didn't take long to eliminate all the pirates and rescue all the hostages.

The reason Natasha's name isn't mentioned here is because she didn't follow Rogers' orders during the mission.

She rushed to the information center as soon as she arrived on the ship, and then completed the mission Nick Fury had given her.

Rogers was very dissatisfied with this, and he didn't approve of Nick Fury's behavior at all.

In the recent action, because he didn't know Natasha had a hidden mission, there were some oversights in his tactical arrangements.

Because of the lack of Natasha's combat strength, Rumlow's special forces team didn't get timely support. If Rogers hadn't arrived in time, the mission would have almost failed.

This was also the reason why Rogers was now standing in Nick Fury's office, arguing with him.

"Warriors trust each other; that's what makes them an army, not just a bunch of trigger-happy rabble," Rogers said, standing in front of Nick Fury's desk, looking at his one good eye.

Hearing Rogers' words, Nick Fury stood up and said in a deep voice, "The last time I trusted someone, I paid for it with an eye."

"Captain, I'm not asking you to do anything that you feel crosses the line."

"But someone has to do these things, so I'm sending in Agent Romanoff."

Rogers didn't agree with Nick Fury's words. He continued, speaking seriously, "If all the team members have their own tasks, then I won't be able to lead this team properly."

"That's called divided management. No one knows all the secrets, so no one leaks them," Nick Fury retorted after hearing Rogers' words.

Hearing Nick Fury's words, Rogers sneered disdainfully, "Except you, right?"

Hearing Rogers' words, Nick Fury also stood up straight, then said to him seriously: "You misunderstand me, I know how to share."
