Chapter 10 - Inferior Strength

As the saying goes, "a warrior's strength defies law." When ordinary people gain power, their darker impulses can unconsciously amplify. It's even more so for warriors who constantly battle monsters and teeter on the edge of life and death. In the early days of the Great Nirvana, the world was in chaos. Rising warriors often fought amongst themselves, and some even took pleasure in abusing ordinary people. However, as the five major powers gradually stabilized the situation, such incidents became less common within base cities.

But they still occurred frequently in the wilderness. Warrior squads often schemed and deceived each other for monster materials.

Therefore, when entering the wilderness, warriors had to face dangers not only from monsters but also from other warrior squads.

During his years with the Wild Wind Squad, Shen Ping had experienced several ambushes and sneak attacks from other warriors. Hearing Muyang mention it, he patted his shoulder, "It's good that you're alright. Be more vigilant in the future. Do you know which squad it was?"

Muyang lowered his voice again, "The Fire Fox Squad."

Shen Ping's expression turned serious. The Fire Fox Squad had a decent reputation in the warrior circles of Huazhong Base City. Their team had two high-level war-gods, and the rest of the members were mid-level war-gods. They usually hunted high-level beast-general-level monsters and occasionally targeted lord-level monsters. Most importantly, they were an affiliated squad of the Zheng Family Consortium.

It was because they received resources and training from the Zheng Family Consortium that the Fire Fox Squad members were so strong.

"Our Wild Wind Squad and Fire Fox Squad have always kept to ourselves, hunting in different areas with no conflicts of interest. Why would they ambush us?"

Shen Ping stared at Muyang, asking the question.

Muyang didn't say anything, instead using the excuse of going to the bathroom to pull Shen Ping aside. Once they were in the restroom, he explained the situation.

"Actually, this is all my fault… Brother Shen, you know I'm a bit of a player. One time, I was drinking with a female student from Huazhong University. It just so happened that her roommate came by. Not only was she beautiful, but she also had a great personality, which really appealed to our captain. The only problem is that our captain isn't very good at this kind of thing, so I tried to set them up."

"But who knew that the younger brother of the Fire Fox Squad's captain was also interested in her and was already pursuing her? That's how the feud started."

"After our captain found out, he was afraid of causing unnecessary trouble, so he cut off contact and even made a phone call to the Fire Fox Squad's captain to explain. But who would have thought they would come after us in the wilderness this time?"

Muyang said, gritting his teeth, "They're clearly trying to bully our Wild Wind Squad. The captain doesn't want to bring it up, but I can't swallow this."

Shen Ping listened in silence for a moment. The captain was five or six years older than him. He had finally found a girl he liked, but for the sake of his team members, he withdrew. That was indeed very much in line with the captain's character.

"During the New Year, rent a place in Zheng City, and I'll guide you in your blade techniques every day."

"Alright, I'll listen to Shen-ge."

The two returned to the private room.

Captain Qin Shan had drunk a lot, obviously troubled by this matter.

They drank until late at night.

Then they left.

After the Spring Festival.

Muyang came to Zheng City to learn blade techniques from Shen Ping. He also mentioned the captain's situation, "The Fire Fox Squad called and said the last time was just a warning, and they won't pursue the matter anymore."

"Brother Shen, I feel so wronged. Yes, our squad isn't as good as the Fire Fox Squad, but they're acting so overbearingly."

He clenched his fists tightly in frustration.

Shen Ping said in a low voice, "Wronged? Are you as wronged as your captain? If you're not as strong as someone, you have to admit it. If you were a God of War, would the Fire Fox Squad dare to be so arrogant?"

Muyang lowered his head.

"Focus on practicing your blade, think about nothing else. Don't go near Huazhong University anymore, and don't ask about anything related to that girl." "Understood, Brother Shen."

Muyang was the youngest in their squad, only in his twenties. He had more potential than the older members. Captain Qin Shan intended to groom him as his successor, but being young also meant he was prone to impulsiveness.

As a warrior, going to find trouble with the younger brother of the Fire Fox Squad's captain would be pointless. It would only make things worse, eventually leading to an irredeemable situation.

Conflicts between martial artists were actually quite normal. Sometimes it was over a woman, sometimes over a trivial matter, and sometimes for the sake of face. But now, on Earth, the strong were revered. If you were weak, you had to endure.

Like Luo Feng before he grew strong, he had to endure even with a high bounty on his head.

Shen Ping's strength was formidable now, but he wouldn't rashly stick his neck out. That would only bring risk to himself, his family, and the Wild Wind Squad.

"The true essence of the Ninefold Thunderblade lies in stillness and movement. Stillness is to make one's heart like a mirror, unaffected by any external interference. Movement is to erupt with the speed of thunder…"

Having mastered the fifth level of the Ninefold Thunderblade, it was very easy for him to guide Muyang. With a strong person's tireless guidance, Muyang made rapid progress in the Ninefold Thunderblade. By mid-March, his blade technique was close to a breakthrough, just a sliver of opportunity away.

"This time in the wilderness, you should seek the feeling more, and strive to break through to the second level of the Ninefold Thunderblade."

Shen Ping said with a smile.

Muyang nodded excitedly, "Thank you, Brother Shen."

After they parted ways.

He returned to the Nan Yuan residential area, played with his son Shen Yu for a while, and then went to the training hall to practice the Dao Yin technique. Since the New Year, he had completely absorbed the remaining medicinal effects of the Spirit of Plants and Trees, the Blue Whisker Ginseng, increasing his punching power from over sixty thousand kilograms to seventy-six thousand. His speed and nerve response had both reached God of War standards.

"After absorbing the remaining medicinal effects of the Spirit of Plants and Trees in my body, I estimate my punching power will stabilize at over eighty thousand. Then, with the Ninefold Thunderblade's fifth level, a 4.2-fold power burst, my single blade strike will have an impact force of over three hundred thousand kilograms!"

Shen Ping's eyes were filled with anticipation. The standard for a high-level God of War was between two hundred and fifty thousand and five hundred thousand kilograms, and an impact force of over three hundred thousand kilograms was already at the upper level of a high-level God of War. If he could unleash five hundred thousand, he would be at the peak of a God of War.

"I need to go to the wilderness area to adapt to the improvements in my body."

He finished his practice.

He fell into thought. The improvements brought about by the rapid increase in his body's strength were difficult to master solely by daily training in the training hall. Only by battling powerful monsters could he quickly master them and fully solidify his strength.

That evening.

He informed Li Yuewei. His wife was helpless about this matter, and could only urge Shen Ping to be careful in the wilderness area.

Two days later.

Shen Ping arrived in County 416, where he had previously stayed. However, he didn't plan to hunt around the county this time. After all, breaking through to the God of War level, intermediate beast general-level monsters no longer provided any significant training. Therefore, he planned to rest for a bit before heading to the more distant Taihang Mountains.

Since the Great Nirvana period, the Taihang Mountains had become the area with the densest concentration of monsters in Huazhong Base City. Almost all the counties and cities around it were dominated by overlords. He had once gone with the Wild Wind Squad dozens of times, but he only dared to stay at the edge of the Taihang Mountains.

Roar!

As soon as he reached the rooftop, a huge beast roar echoed in his ears.

He took a look with his binoculars. A few martial artists were hunting a beast general. However, when he saw one of the martial artists, his eyes narrowed.
