Devimon whipped his head around, thinking it couldn't possibly be the Leomon he had just sent flying.
When he turned, a terrifying storm slammed into its body.
"Who is it?"
Devimon searched all around but couldn't find a trace of the enemy.
The air, however, was now filled with many floating red spheres.
What are those?
He looked on in confusion, not understanding whose technique this was.
In his memory, no Digimon could unleash an attack like this.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom.
A series of explosions erupted, and a huge cloud of smoke instantly enveloped the entire battlefield.
At that moment, Sucrose took the opportunity to call down to the children below. "Quick, run! I'll take care of Devimon!"
A human voice reached the children's ears.
Although they didn't know who it was, they knew that if they continued to fight, they would only lose more badly.
Tai Kamiya helped Matt Ishida to his feet. "Let's retreat for now."
"But, Tai, this is our best chance! If we want to defeat Devimon, we should be attacking now!" Matt was unwilling to run. They had come here to defeat Devimon, after all. And on this vast ocean, where could they even run to?
Mimi Tachikawa looked at their devolved Digimon and shook her head. "Let's retreat for now. They're out of energy. Let's recover first and then decide."
Regardless of who was saving them, fighting now was just suicide.
The group exchanged glances and quickly ordered their Digimon to retreat.
Devimon naturally heard their exchange and roared in anger, "You are not allowed to run! I'm going to kill all of you!"
He stretched out his terrifying claws and slammed them downward.
BOOM!
Another fierce gust of wind assailed him, and Devimon's attack was blocked again.
At this point, he was incredibly furious. Today was supposed to be the day he sent the DigiDestined to their doom, yet one problem after another kept cropping up.
"Get out of my way!" Devimon roared, spitting out a massive breath of air that blew all the smoke away.
And at that moment, he finally saw the enemy that had been harassing him.
It was a young woman with long, green hair, holding a strange bottle in her hand.
Was it her?
Devimon stared at Sucrose and demanded, "Who are you?"
"I am Sucrose, an alchemist from the world of Teyvat."
"Alchemist? I don't care what kind of '-ist' you are! If you dare to stop me from killing these children, then you deserve to die!"
Devimon used his ultimate move again. He had to kill this meddlesome woman as quickly as possible, or the children would all escape.
Sucrose threw the flask in her hand, and a terrifying vortex deflected Devimon's attack.
Then, she threw out one alchemical creation after another.
The earth melted.
Ice and snow assailed him.
A torrential rain began to fall.
All sorts of weather phenomena appeared one after another.
Combined with the previous storm flasks, the current Devimon was practically taking a bath in an elemental pool.
"Are you toying with me, woman?!"
Devimon felt that he had been humiliated. He pushed with both hands, trying to climb out of the mire.
At that moment, Sucrose took out one bomb after another and used the power of the wind to send them towards Devimon's location.
When several hundred bombs had arrived at Devimon's side, these unstable objects began to set off a world-shaking series of explosions.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The earth shook and the mountains swayed.
An explosive yield dozens of times more terrifying than Klee's bombs was now being detonated continuously on File Island.
The sustained blasts finally became too much for Devimon to bear.
Although his hide was thick, he was not completely immune to damage.
Under such a bombardment, he, too, began to be injured.
Cracks began to appear on his skin, and the Black Gears within his body started to show signs of fading.
"No… how can I die like this?! I am Devimon!!!"
Feeling the danger of death, Devimon went into a frenzy.
He continuously slammed the ground, trying to escape the vortex of explosions.
Unfortunately, Sucrose would not give him that chance. The moment the wind field had appeared, she had already mixed various alchemical reagents into the wind and sent them to their predetermined locations.
The current scene was less of a battle and more of Sucrose's personal experiment.
In her hands, she was holding a notebook, recording the explosive effects of her various bombs.
"Bomb No. 622's range is… explosive energy is…"
"Bomb No. 340's explosion is…"
"It seems the power of the cyclone is still not enough. The enemy has a chance to escape. I'll switch to an overhead detonation!"
Sucrose took out another batch of bombs and sent them directly above Devimon's head, continuing the bombardment.
As Klee's good friend, she had read many of Alice's notes. A witch who loved to blow things up everywhere she went—how many bomb recipes do you think she had in her hands?
The number was in the thousands.
From recipes that could shatter mountains to recipes that could blast fish.
The things Alice had recorded were simply too numerous.
It wasn't that Sucrose had liked researching this in the past; it was just that in order to stop Klee from causing so much destruction, she had been forced to help her improve her recipes.
This was originally Albedo's job, but who told Sucrose to be his assistant? An assistant's job was to share the teacher's workload.
The distant children were dumbfounded. The Digimon were also dumbfounded.
"Tai, are we watching a fireworks show?"
"Uh… probably. That big sister is so amazing! Even a Digimon's evolution isn't as strong as her bombs. I'm going to become a researcher in the future!" Tai's eyes were shining.
What Digimon? Who cares about Digimon? The power of science was the greatest!
That Devimon was so strong, right? And yet he was still being completely suppressed.
In the Multiverse Mission Group chat, the members were also discussing Sucrose's battle.
Keqing:I originally thought the weakest person in the group was Sucrose. Now it seems… no researcher is simple.
Mona:I agree! I'm the weakest one! (╥_╥)
Ganyu:Is this the power of technology? It's really so strong! The enemy is being suppressed so much it can't even move.
Zhongli:This kind of fire suppression is indeed quite interesting.
Kaedehara Kazuha:No wonder Master always says that technology is the number one productive force. It really is. I've made a note of it.
Beidou:Damn, this is just cheating! There's actually a fighting method like this? Shameless!
Su Han:I just don't know if Sucrose can bring back one or two Digimon to raise after the battle is over. I hope the time she can remain is long enough.
Ningguang:Should we remind her to just ask for one of the children's Digimon?
That Koromon in the shop was worth five million points. If they could get a Digimon back, it would be a huge profit.
Su Han:Don't. Those Digimon won't come with her. They are specially bonded with the children. Even if she could entice them, old man Gennai would step in to stop her. She could try to find an un-partnered Digimon, though.
Hu Tao:Hey, you guys, look! Devimon's skin is cracking! It looks like the battle is about to end!
Everyone looked at the screen. Sure enough, Devimon's skin had begun to crumble. It was clear he couldn't hold on any longer.
Seeing this, Sucrose, far from reducing her firepower, instead threw out all the bombs she had left in her hands.
The experiment was complete. The mission naturally had to be finished as well, without any mistakes.
Researchers were the most meticulous of people. Go easy on the enemy? It was simply impossible.
Six more flasks fell, instantly amplifying the original explosive power.
The entire File Island began to sink. As for Devimon, he was now completely silent.
The hands that had been supporting his body finally shattered, and he crashed to the ground.
BOOM!
With a massive explosion, the Black Gears within Devimon's body all vanished into nothingness.
And the islands that had been affected by Devimon all began to move back towards the central island.
"Hah… is it finally over?" Sucrose looked down at the corpse, which was still being ravaged by the storm, and let out a light breath.
In order to kill this Devimon, she had been calculating for a very long time. To be able to kill it meant she had not let everyone down.
Just then, the system notification chimed in her mind.
[Ding! Congratulations on completing the 3-star Multiverse Mission. You have been awarded 50,000 points.]
[Hint: You may choose to return immediately or remain for a short while.]
[Note: The maximum time you can remain is sixty minutes.]
Sucrose reported her results to the group and also saw Su Han's reminder. He had asked her to find an un-partnered Digimon and bring it back as soon as possible.
"Find an un-partnered Digimon? But I only have one hour. Can I really find one?"
Sucrose thought for a moment and then found the children. Seeing the hero who had defeated Devimon return, the children were extremely excited.
"Big sister, you're so amazing!"
"Yeah! How did you make such a powerful explosion?"
"According to my calculations, the explosion lasted for twenty-six minutes. A destructive force of this magnitude could probably pulverize a mountain," Izzy said, having been recording the explosion the whole time and providing accurate data.
Sucrose glanced at the thing in his hands. "What is that?"
"Oh, this is a laptop computer."
"A computer?" Sucrose's face was full of confusion. She didn't know what a computer was.
So she asked, "Will you give this to me for research? I can give you all the data for the bombs I just made."
"This…" Izzy's face showed his hesitation. He only had this one laptop. If he gave it away, what would he use?
