As he approached the wooden door where the Winter Soldier was, Tao Wen saw the Winter Soldier spit out a mouthful of blood, splattering everywhere. The Winter Soldier struggled to stand up, trying to continue running.
Tao Wen watched.
Another data prompt popped up in front of his eyes, causing a special light to burst from them. With his focus, this fragment integrated into the new percentage: 2/5.
Let me just stomp him unconscious, then wake him up to interrogate him.
Looking at the Winter Soldier struggling on the ground, Tao Wen subconsciously raised his right foot high, aiming to stomp on the Winter Soldier's face to collect a fragment.
After knocking him out, touch him, then have him touch me, and I'll get a new piece of equipment!
A gleam flashed in Tao Wen's eyes; he was close to acquiring new equipment.
Bang!
As his right foot came down fiercely, he missed, smashing a sizable crater into the hard concrete ground.
Winter Soldier rolled desperately, slamming into a vase in the room. The vase wobbled, then fell, colliding with his outstretched mechanical right arm and shattering into pieces.
Winter Soldier swung his arm forcefully.
A large number of fragments shot towards Tao Wen.
"Trying to escape? Let's see where you can run!"
Tao Wen stared coldly at Winter Soldier, completely ignoring the flying vase fragments. The fragments hit him, and were instantly pulverized by the Thorn Armor's repulsive force, scattering everywhere.
His body surged forward, breaking through the dust, and charged towards Winter Soldier with fury.
Winter Soldier scrambled up from the ground, jumping up frantically and slamming into a room door. The high-quality wooden door couldn't withstand the impact and burst open, crashing violently against the wall. The entire wall shuddered, and he tumbled to the ground, quickly rolling into the room.
Bang!
As the door rebounded, Tao Wen slammed his hand heavily onto it, forcing the door open again, and he entered the room.
Only a few seconds separated him from Bucky.
"Where is he?"
Tao Wen was stunned the moment he rushed into the room.
The room wasn't large. A dazzling incandescent light shone from the ceiling, completely illuminating the space.
The room contained only a bed and an old television. The TV was playing an old, scratchy videotape. Aside from that, there was no one.
The Winter Soldier had vanished into thin air!
"Damn it!"
Tao Wen couldn't help but curse. The duck he'd cooked had flown away, and nobody would be in a good mood.
He could guess that there must have been a mechanism in the room that caused the Winter Soldier to disappear.
Boom!
He kicked the bed heavily, and the wooden bed instantly shifted to the side. Under the terrifying force, it collided violently with the wall. The room trembled, and the bed collapsed, turning into a pile on the ground, without any hole appearing.
He searched around for a while, but there were no mechanisms either. He even kicked the walls hard a few times, but apart from shaking, no holes appeared.
"Where exactly is it?"
After searching for half a day without results, Tao Wen couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. The sounds from the old videotape seemed to be mocking him. He punched the TV screen.
Crack!
Along with a sound, the TV screen didn't break. Instead, a dark hole appeared on the ground not far from him.
"Truly scheming!"
Tao Wen jumped directly into the hole.
The ground of the hole was very smooth and sloped downwards, like a slide on a mountain. As it moved rapidly, it quickly went in one direction.
In just a few minutes, he reached the exit.
Tao Wen leaped and landed on the ground.
The surroundings instantly changed, transforming into a deep mountain forest. Low, rolling hills dotted the area, and the wind swept in, carrying the chill of a spring night.
BOOM!
The moment he landed, a thunderous roar suddenly echoed in his ears.
"What!"
He spun around and saw a roaring truck hurtling towards him. Its breakneck speed was clearly intended to send him flying. The blue headlights were like the eyes of a demon, filled with malice, trying to rob him of his brief moment of clarity.
"Get out of here!"
Anger flared in Tao Wen's heart. He thrust out his right hand, his feet stomping hard into the ground, sinking in by about three inches. He stood his ground, rooted like a tree.
Tch. BOOM!
The roaring truck slammed into his right hand.
Amidst the deafening noise, Tao Wen remained perfectly still, while the roaring truck screeched to a halt.
It then abruptly tilted, rolling wildly towards Tao Wen's body.
The wheels spun furiously, emitting a piercing sound.
"Up!"
Tao Wen transformed his hand into a claw, gripping the hood of the truck, sinking deep into it. With a roar, the veins on his body bulged, unleashing his full strength, attempting to lift the cumbersome truck.
Although his strength was immense, he was still at a disadvantage. He was shocked and angered to discover that the truck was loaded with heavy metal, increasing its weight several times over.
"Argh!"
He screamed madly, and his left hand transformed into a claw, landing on the hood of the car. As his claw dug into the hood, a purple light flashed instantly.
The Modified Cloak of Levitation's critical strike!
Under the influence of this violent force, the massive truck was lifted, and with a powerful impact, it was thrown away.
Boom!
The heavy truck slammed violently into a small hill, shattering the rocks on the hill. Sand and stones flew everywhere, creating a scene of utter chaos.
The heavy truck turned into a pile of scrap, continuously rolling on the hill before finally getting stuck in a depression.
A large amount of black smoke began to billow.
With a loud bang, it exploded into a ball of fire, erupting like a small sun.
"That's not the Winter Soldier!"
Tao Wen strode out, approaching the exploded truck. He kicked open the door and saw a robot lying inside. The severed head, still emitting a fiery red glow, illuminated the interior of the vehicle.
He spun around, scanning his surroundings.
There wasn't a soul in sight. Clearly, this was a contingency plan left behind by Hydra.
It was only then, as he turned, that he realized the mansion was perched atop a mountain. He looked up.
It took him ten minutes to get back to the courtyard.
"Damn it!"
When he returned to the courtyard, intending to interrogate the black-clad figures, he found them all dead, having poisoned themselves. Blood flowed from their orifices, a gruesome sight.
After searching the entire house without finding a trace of anyone, Tao Wen had no choice but to give up, waiting for another opportunity to encounter Winter Soldier.
Fortunately, he found a fiery red Ferrari in the garage. He turned the dynamic sound system up to the maximum and, guided by the navigation system, returned to his dorm.
After haphazardly parking the Ferrari, Tao Wen went back to his dorm. Hill wasn't home. He took a quick shower and went to sleep.
The next day, early morning.
Tao Wen got up early. After buying a burger, he drove the Ferrari towards S.H.I.E.L.D.'s exclusive prison. He wanted to further exploit Abomination's usefulness and farm some skill shards.
He wanted to boost his strength once more.
