[???]
[ blood runs thicker than water, but will you be able to tell the difference with your eyes closed?]
Hearing that voice echoing in her mind, she opened her eyes. sitting on the bed, clothed in blood, was her reflection in the mirror.
She tried to get up, to move her hand and check for injuries. Her body, on the other hand, refused.
"What the-"
Frozen in place and after much tries , she leaned back defeated, only then her body listened and put her back to sleep.
[will you still choose this path, shall you ever go back?]
She woke up once more, laying in the bathtub.
"Dammit, I shouldn't take baths when I'm tired."
She got up, wrapped the towel around her body, dried and fixed her hair in the foggy mirror as she suddenly heard noises from out the door. She tried to open the door yet..
"Wait.. that's ..not how my bathroom door looks like-"
She ran to the cabinet under the sink . nope , her backup gun wasn't there, though everything else looked like usual.
"What's… happening.."
The door burst open, and she passed out. Moments later, her eyes opened again.
This time she was on the living room couch , A book on her chest.
"Right…i was gonna finish this one.."
[do you believe your fate is already written down for you?]
She looked around, what was that sound?
The moment she got up to investigate, she fell asleep yet again.
[ could it be, you just don't see yourself worthy enough to fight for?]
"Who the-"
This time she was on her bed again. Got up and reached the mirror. Standing taller than her, was an all black figure. Dark and gloomy as a shadow.
[loud and proud you stand. Does their blood taste that good?]
She stepped back. Out of habit reaching her pocket for her gun, and just then her focus shifted to her hands. Painted in blood of gods know who.
"..."
Silently thinking, the shadow figure walked out of the mirror, poking her on her forehead and so she looked up.
Before she could even react, the figure wrapped their arms around her.
[ accept who you are, dark souls belong with their masters.]
"...what?"
She whispered.
[shh..let fate take control, your hope is way too weak to fight anyways.]
"Hey-! I'll let you know i'm-"
She opened her eyes again. She was laying on her bed .
"...not…weak.."
This time, there was no sound echoing.
no shadow figures either.
She got up and stretched her body, yawning as she looked at her phone
screen, 05:45 am.
"Ugh, these dreams are getting more and more realistic. Just once more and I won't be able to tell them apart from reality..or …reality apart from them.."
Her coffee was made 10 minutes later. Considering her line of work, it wasn't everyday that she got to rest at home and do nothing. She was so gonna enjoy today.
Putting on her favorite show, then scrolling on her phone for hours and completely ignoring the tv, arguing in the comments of some stranger's post with a fake account , maybe even online shopping.
Anything but going out, she was out everyday. Why the hell should she go out and share her day with people? It was HER day off, no other person allowed.
How else could one rest it all out? If they had to act for people all day?
So she did just that. Laying on the gray couch in the dark living room, no lights on,eating whatever and letting the tv run on the side, doing it's only job as background noise.
This time though, she allowed herself to think of this unknown 'princess' and the possibility of them being the key to her past, to open the door and show her the answers she was searching for all along.
Her day off went amazing, one of the most amazing in a while. Until she heard noises coming from outside the window of course.
On the other side of the tinted glass, were a bunch of cats fighting, one of them so visibly injured.
Another hour passed, now here she was, holding the bathed cat in her arms. Her day no longer one of the greatest, but the best and most happiest.
For years and years she was waiting to be chosen, by a cat!
And now it was her time to shine, finally time to show the cat system that she'll be the greatest parent to the white senior cat that showed up in front of her house.
