Chapter 15 - DEC???,SNOWY. YEAR:NOT RECORDED

the whole mountain was covered in white, slippery snow.

You could barely get past it with the right equipment. and yet, if you looked closely, there was a group of people just walking towards the mountaintop.

around ten people or so, heads down. Walking in a line, a single rope connecting then all by their waists.

:lord -######- . how much longer do we have?

: be patient. We no longer have the protection of the great mother, we can't be reckless.

the man who first asked about their situation , did not respond after.

Looking down at the footprints on the snow covering as soon as they took another step, with such guilty face, if a stranger saw them right now they'd for sure think they're criminal runaways.

???:Dad, can't you pick me up?

the child, second in line, asked the leader before stopping.

: if we make even one mistake, we might all be found at the very bottom under tons of red snow.

???:i'm aware, but…i can't feel my legs, if we keep going i might fall and then we all get in trouble.

silence filled the whole mountain once again. Until one of the other people stepped aside not so far from the line.

: i'll carry you.

they had to make a stop.untie the rope, rearrange the line and double check before walking again.

for two whole days and three nights, they walked.only stopping to rest for an hour each night, finally the group reached the top.all they could find was a small cave and an old torch left by someone long ago.

: thanks, thank you all. Each and every one of you helped us way too much.may the sky keep watching over you wherever you step a foot.

the leader then let them rest a night before they carried on with their journey to get past this mountain and reach their destination.

while saying goodbye, there stood a little kid. Holding hands with the only man left behind.

???: why aren't we going too?

: we have more important matters to attend.

???: i'm hungry.

the man took a small piece of dried meat from his pocket, unwrapped it and handed it to the child.
