Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 Fantasy World (4)

"Uhh… first, there are three guilds situated in the city. The three guilds are called, namely, the Adventurer's Guild, the Mercenary Guild, and the Merchant Guild." The innkeeper explained.

Sein nodded.

"But… before that, since explaining all the guilds in detail will take quite a long time, which guild do you want to know specifically?" The innkeeper asked.

"Umm…" Sein thought for a moment.

He thought for a while, but couldn't really decide just based on their name, so he asked for a short explanation on each guild first, "...First, what do all of them do?"

"Then, I'll start with the Adventurer's guild." The innkeeper understood and said.

"The Adventurer's Guild consists of adventurers who takes on various errands, or 'quests' as you call it, such as herb gathering, slaying monsters, manual labor, dungeon investigation, escort, and anything that you can name, you can request it in the Adventurer's Guild."

"Ohhh, I see. What about the Mercenary Guild?" Sein inquired about the next guild.

The innkeeper continued, "The Mercenary Guild is a bit similar to the Adventurer's Guild, but with the only exception that they specialize more in combat and security. Actually, they take on any request that involves warfare and the likes. They are also mostly tied to various cities as well."

"I see." Sein nodded.

"And, the Merchant's Guild?"

"They are an organization which is composed of merchants all around the world. They protect and manage all of them, and also facilitate the selling and buying of resources and products as well. You can hardly see any merchant that isn't associated with the Merchant Guild."

"Are they that powerful?" Sein hearing this, curiously asked.

"Yes. Actually, all of the guilds that I have mentioned are equally powerful in influence and reach. In most cases, they cooperate with each other to equally benefit themselves." The innkeeper added.

Sein nodded.

"I see."

"So, have you decided which guild you want to go to?"

"Hmm…" Sein pinched his chin in thought.

'Which should I choose?… I should probably exclude the Merchant Guild since I don't want to be a merchant in a dream. Then, all that's left is the Adventurer's Guild and the Mercenary Guild…'

'To choose between the Adventurer's Guild and the Mercenary Guild, huh?…'

The innkeeper patiently waited for Sein.

"Ok, I decided. I'll choose the Adventurer's Guild."

"Ok, since you chose the Adventurer's Guild. I'll thoroughly explain to you what it is as much as possible."

"Thank you." Sein said.

The innkeeper smiled, "No problem, it's been a while since I've talked to someone this long."

"Anyways, continuing with what I have said, the Adventurer's Guild consists of adventurers that take on various quests in various fields. And in the guild, the adventurers are divided into ranks going to F-rank, which is the lowest rank, and S-rank, which is the highest rank."

"Uh-huh." Sein nodded in understanding.

"Since you chose the Adventurer's Guild, you will most likely be registered as F-rank. As for having another rank besides F-rank when registering for the first time, that is a special case, it doesn't usually happen."

"I see. Do I need to do anything before registering though?" Sein asked.

"No. You only need to fill up a form, assess your identity, and you're done."

Sein lifted his eyebrows slightly, "That simple?"

"Yes. Compared to the Merchant Guild and the Mercenary Guild. The process is relatively simple and fast."

"Nice." Said Sein.

"Yes, it's a good thing. So, do you still have any questions?" The innkeeper kind-heartedly asked.

Sein cleared his throat, "Ahem, actually… I still have questions left to ask… Is it alright for me to ask you again?"

The innkeeper laughed, "Hahaha, no worries. Go on, ask."

Sein scratched his cheek, "Actually, in truth, I'm not from around here, so I don't know much around these parts."

"I see." The innkeeper's reaction was lukewarm.

"Hm? You don't seem to be surprised."

"Oh, I suspected that much, but hearing it directly from you still surprises me." The innkeeper nonchalantly replied.

Sein stared at the innkeeper, "I see…"

"Anyways, do you want me to introduce someone to you to show you around the city?" The innkeeper suddenly offered.

"Really?" Sein's eyes widened.

"Sure, I don't mind. My daughter should be back on an errand soon. She can guide you after she comes back."

"Huh? you have a daughter?" Sein looked at the innkeeper in surprise.

The reason Sein was surprised was because the innkeeper's appearance was quite… unique. He was buff like a bodybuilder and the most striking of it all was his mustache. His mustache was quite long, similar to Gold Roger's from the anime One Piece.

That's why he couldn't imagine he had a daughter, more or less his daughter's appearance…

"Why? Is it so unbelievable?" The innkeeper chuckled.

"Uhh, n-no, I just didn't think so."

As Sein was about to explain further, the door opened with a chime.

Ding~

"I'm back!"

"Oh, speaking of the devil! My daughter, you're back!" The innkeeper looked over Sein's shoulder.

"Hm? Who's this?" A clear and soft voice sounded.

Sein turned around.

The moment he turned, he saw a beauty reminiscent of the saying, "A jade beauty."

With soft beige-colored hair cascading down her shoulders, and with eyes that were colored in almond, she looked at Sein.

Sein's jaw fell to the ground.

The innkeeper, seeing his reaction, said, "HAHAHA, is my daughter that beautiful to you?"

As he heard that, he got out of his trance, and turned to look in between the innkeeper and his daughter.

"…Sir, is this really your daughter?"

"Hmph, how rude." The innkeeper snorted.

"Ah! Sorry, I was just surprised, that's all." Sein scratched his head.

"What is there to be surprised about? That's my daughter!" The innkeeper smirked.

"But, since you apologized, I'll not take it to mind." The innkeeper accepted Sein's apology.

"Umm…" Suddenly, a voice sounded beside them.

The innkeeper and Sein simultaneously turned to look at the source of the voice.

It was Leiya, staring at them.

"Dad, aren't you gonna introduce him?" The innkeeper's daughter looked at the innkeeper.

"Oh right. Leiya, this is one of our guests, uhh…"

"Sein." Sein interjected his name in the middle.

"Right, Sein. And, Sein, this is Leiya, my daughter." The innkeeper finished introducing both of them to each other.

Sein looked at the innkeeper.

"Oh, right, my name is Labu." The innkeeper introduced himself and grinned.

As the introduction began to wrap up, Leiya, who was being silent in the corner, said with a soft voice, "So, what were you two talking about?"

"Oh, you see, Sein here is…"

Labu explained the situation.

"I see." Leiya said.

"That's why, I'm hoping you could guide Sein. After all, aren't you also planning to register at the Adventurer's Guild today?"

"Yeah…"

"That's settled then! Have Sein tag along with you." Labu grinned as his hand formed a thumbs up.

Leiya looked at Sein with hesitation in her eyes.

"…Ok. Fine."

"Then, I'll be in your care." Sein seeing that she accepted, smiled in relief.

"Before we go to the guild, I'll have to change my clothes first and prepare something as well." Leiya said.

"Ok." Sein agreed.

"Well then." Leiya proceeded to go to her room.

As Leiya left, Labu bragged, "My daughter is pretty right? She's my pride!"

Labu's smile stretched wide as he beamed with pride.

Sein could only smile helplessly.

***

Leiya finally finished her preparations and got out of her room.

"Come on, let's go."

"Ok." Sein complied.

As they got out of the inn, Labu waved them goodbye.

"Stay safe on the way!"

They nodded.

They both made their way to the guild with Leiya guiding the way.

As they made their way together to the Adventurer's Guild, they didn't talk to each other.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the Adventurer's Guild.

"Woah…" Sein exclaimed in amazement.

The Adventurer's Guild Balkaar City branch was a massive one as it was a three-story building. It was simple, but at the same time, it exuded a grand stature in it.

At the top of the building was a sign, along with a logo.

[Adventurer's Guild]

"What are you doing just standing there? Let's enter." Leiya said.

"Ah! Right, sorry." Sein got out of his amazement and followed her inside.

Creak.

As the door opened, the inside gradually came to view.

Adventurers of various types come and go, others were deciding what to choose at the quest board, while some were talking to the receptionists, and a few were sitting around discussing something.

In short, they were all busy doing something.

'So this is what's inside an Adventurer's Guild in actuality, huh?' Sein thought in amazement.

He never thought there would actually be a day that would come that he would witness such a sight.

As Sein was sightseeing the guild while being led by Leiya, they eventually arrive at a receptionist.

"Hello, what brings you here today?" The Adventurer's Guild receptionist greeted them with a kind smile.

Leiya stated their purpose, "Hello, we would like to register as Adventurers."

"Understood. Please fill up these forms." The receptionist handed them some forms to fill up.

Leiya accepted them and handed Sein a copy.

"Hm? What's this?" Sein asked.

"It's an identification form. You need to sign it up." Leiya answered nonchalantly.

"Huh…"

Sein looked at the identification form in his hand.

'Am I even able to write? Let alone read?' His mouth twitched as he sarcastically thought.

As he looked at the identification form, he realized he could actually read it.

'...Eh? I can?' He was stunned .

After Leiya finished writing her form, she passed on the pen to Sein.

"Here, right yours." Leiya said.

Sein looked at the pen in her hand for a moment.

Leiya, seeing his reaction, slightly frowned and asked, "What? You can't write?"

"Umm… Let me see if I can." Sein replied.

"What?" Leiya's titled her head.

Sein grabbed the pen in her hand and started writing.

And as he tried to write, as if magically, words that he didn't know started manifesting in his hand as words flowed out smoothly.

"...So, you can write." Leiya looked at him with a questioning gaze.

"Hahaha…" Sein could only laugh.

As they both finished writing their identification forms, they handed it to the receptionist.

"Thank you. Please wait for a moment."

"Alright." Leiya nodded.

The receptionist left her counter for a moment.

After a moment had passed, she returned.

"Hello, I'm back. Your documents have been processed. Here are your registered licenses." The receptionist handed both of them a card.

As Sein took a look at his license, he realized what it was.

"Oh… This is…"

Sein stared at his F-ranked Adventurer License in amazement for a while.

"We got our Adventurer License now." Even Leiya was trembling in excitement.

"So, what's next?"

"What's next? Isn't it obvious?" For the first time, Leiya showed a smile.

"Let's take on a quest!"

As soon as she said that, their eyes both turned to the large quest board in the lobby.

"Let's go." Their mouths wide with grin.
