Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Inevitable Ending

"Second type!"

"Observation Haki!"

"Hmm~~~"

Rocks continued his explanation.

"The pinnacle of Observation Haki has many branches! In fact, some people possess innately gifted forms of it. For example—being able to hear the voice of all things, or perceive the hearts of others."

"These two abilities are highly specialized forms of Observation Haki."

"But!"

"In theory, they can still be reached through training. The hardest, though, is the ability to foresee the future. Reaching this level requires an incredibly acute sense, only then can one perceive brief glimpses of what's to come."

Arthur nodded repeatedly.

This aligned perfectly with what he already knew.

Indeed!

If Armament Haki's peak can be attained through intense training, then Observation Haki's peak depends almost entirely on natural talent. The first two require innate gifts; the third demands extreme sensory sharpness.

Among those Arthur knew of, only Katakuri and Luffy had such talent. As for heart reading, it was unique to Princess Otohime and Enel. The ability to hear the voice of all things was also extremely rare—seen in Gol D. Roger, Kozuki Oden, Luffy, and Momonosuke.

All of them were exceptional individuals with terrifying potential.

"Hmm."

Arthur rubbed his chin with interest.

"Captain Rocks, I'm curious—do you possess peak Observation Haki?"

"Oh ho ho ho ha ha ha ha!"

"I'm Rocks, dammit!"

As his hearty laughter echoed through the air, Arthur knew the answer.

There was no doubt—Rocks possessed at least one of the pinnacle forms of Observation Haki… and probably more.

As expected!

No wonder this man was once feared as the most terrifying monster on the seas. The heights he reached were simply unimaginable to others.

"Alright!"

"Enough chatter!"

"Next up is Conqueror's Haki."

Rocks continued teaching,

"The advanced form of Conqueror's Haki is similar to Armament Haki—it can be infused and wrapped around attacks. The combined force of the two is unimaginably destructive. But! That's not all."

"Conqueror's Haki…"

"…also has another apex form. It's hard to describe in words. When your Haki reaches an extreme level, it manifests your will—your very spirit—into tangible power."

"That's the general idea."

"This here is the training method."

As he spoke, Rocks tossed Arthur a small booklet. Arthur took it without hesitation and began reading it openly.

Sure enough.

To reach the highest level of all three forms of Haki required extremely specialized training methods. It wasn't something you could simply learn just because someone told you how it worked.

Otherwise…

There wouldn't be so few people in the world who have reached those heights.

After studying the booklet carefully and memorizing everything, Arthur returned it to Rocks and stood up.

"That's more than enough, Captain Rocks."

"No problem."

Rocks nodded.

Arthur turned to leave. As Rocks watched his back, he murmured,

"Kid… I really am curious how far you can go. But…"

Placing one hand over his heart, Rocks showed a hint of unwillingness—but also calm acceptance.

He knew that his time was nearing its end. So why not let the world descend into even more chaos?

"Arthur, kid!"

"Memorized it all already?"

Big Mom Linlin walked over, asking curiously.

Arthur nodded.

"I've learned everything I need."

"MAMAMAMAMA~"

Linlin laughed with interest.

"Kid, make sure you take it seriously. This kind of knowledge is rare even out here on the seas."

Arthur agreed,

"No doubt. I didn't expect Captain Rocks to actually teach these kinds of techniques."

Top-tier training methods for the three forms of Haki.

Do you know what that means?

It's strategic-level information. If one side knows it and the other doesn't, the power gap is insurmountable.

It's exactly this kind of knowledge that allowed the World Government to maintain control over the entire world.

And Rocks—Rocks D. Xebec—was actually willing to give it away.

Unimaginable.

After all—

Edward, Shiki, Linlin, Ochoku, John, Silver Axe…

Weren't they all nobodies before? If not for these training methods, how could they have mastered such elite Haki forms? Even Roger's crew only acquired their top-level Haki through extraordinary means.

Now Arthur understood clearly.

The future landscape of the seas came about because of Rocks. He spread knowledge of the top-tier Haki across the next generation of monsters.

"Hey kid!"

"How does it feel?"

Shiki walked over, asking curiously.

Arthur thought for a moment.

"I've got a few ideas. But… I'll save them for later."

With that, Arthur walked away.

The Next Day

Kaido also received instruction from Rocks and learned the top-tier Haki methods.

From then on—

Arthur and Kaido resumed their hellish training.

Of course—

For Kaido, it was hell.

For Arthur, it was more like a death-seeking regimen.

But!

Arthur's strength visibly increased by the day. His terrifying growth rate shocked even Edward and Shiki, who exclaimed:

"This guy Arthur is an absolute beast! A total freak!"

After two full months of this relentless training routine…

The mission Rocks had previously mentioned finally arrived.
