Chapter 25 - Quest Cleared

"I think so" Ash shrugged.

"Time for my question. What do you think this weapon is equivalent to, like in level terms?" Ash looked at the man in anticipation.

"To be honest I have only been hit with similar attack once that was by level 28. But this isn't quite there so I would say it's equivalent to a level 25 attacker" Jennifer said hesitantly.

"Ash we should go out". Jessie cut in between. She was disappointed and terrified at the same point.

"No we can't, things are not done yet" Ash shot the bullet killing Jennifer his eyes wide open.

Jessie shook to her core. She felt a tingling in her spine. This guy wasn't human, she had seen some crazy people but this guy was beyond crazy.

If he can kill Jennifer to keep his secret then what are the odds that he will let her live.

"Zero" Her heart was trembling, she couldn't decide whether to fight this man or trust him.

"Can you bring that band back that I just threw" Ash requested.

Jessie jolted out of her thoughts realizing that she was doomed.

Her MP recovery rate was high as a mage so she was now able to cast some spells but would that be enough to defend. She didn't know.

She nodded showing no emotion on her face and brought the thrown band and handed it to Ash.

Ash put the band on the Jennifer's band transferring the points then put it inside the Jennifer's pocket.

"Let's go I think we are done" Ash said limping towards the exit.

He was still unable to walk properly.

"Heal me if you got enough MP" Ash asked.

Jessie looked at him for a long moment then her hand started healing.

Ash felt his injuries healing, vitality returning. In some time he was healed enough to walk normally. Internal injuries were still aching.

Walking towards the exit of the dungeon they found a group fighting with beasts.

They looked at the couple exhausted walking towards them.

"You both, transfer your points" One of the members said.

They expected some resistance but none came. They threw their hand bands number 5 written on it.

"There are more beasts if you want to kill" Ash said putting the band back with 0 written on it.

The group looked at them with confusion, why was this couple helping them but none of them paid much attention to this ordinary looking guy.

They rushed towards the direction Ash and Jessie came from.

Ash was grinning seeing them falling for the trap. His plan was done if something goes wrong from here then he couldn't do anything.

There was one variable, Hand band. How does it calculate kills. But he hoped that it only calculates kills and don't have any feature to watch.

Jessie was lost in thought all the way. She was in dilemma was this guy using her also and will kill later or he is genuinely trying to save them both from Wilberts.

After that they came across multiple groups but were ignored seeing their 0 points. Running to get the points from whoever took their points.

After some time Ash and Jessie stood in front of the blue portal the way out of the dungeon stepping out.

Public tried to recognize them. "It's squad 21".

The public looked at them with anticipation. Ash and Jessie walked to the guy who handed them the band and returned the band.

He looked at the band seeing number zero he shook his head in disappointment. It wasn't first squad nor the last that would be robbed by stronger squads.

"Results will be announced once all squads take their test" he said plainly.

Ash and Jessie walked slowly out of the area while keeping their head low. They wanted least eyes on them.

As they escaped the circle of public Ash saw a squad shot up to the first rank out of nowhere.

Ash seeing this chuckled mischievously, his trap had worked. He was ninety percent sure that they won't be a suspect anymore.

Both returned to the inn, Jessie was still in shock.

Instead of going to her own room she followed Ash inside.

"Should we leave this city" Jessie asked panicking. When she walked the path of leveling up she knew the time would come when she will have to kill her fellow humans but the difference was human itself.

If they had killed any normal ranker guild wouldn't even bother to report but it was from royal family that was part of the government and held important position in the city.

They won't make them their enemy just to save two guildmates who just joined them. So according to her Ash had taken right decision to give up the chance to join the guilds.

"No we can't, if we suddenly vanish from the city then we will be prime suspect despite all the preparation. Now even if they suspect they won't be able to give enough proof". Ash said then looked her in eyes seeing a question.

"Are you thinking why didn't I kill you?" Ash asked.

Jessie put her hand on the unhealed injuries healing him. "I thought about it and I should be dead but is it because I am beautiful and you want something from me" she looked at him with straight face.

"You are in delulu" Ash laughed.

"Delulu" She looked at him with curiosity unable to understand strange word then continued "is it some runic language".

"No...no... I said you think too highly of yourself. I am not some psycho who kill everyone. And we are together in this so I am sure you wouldn't spill the beans unless you want to die" Ash put her hands on her shoulder "you can rest and recover. We will decide our next action tomorrow morning".

Jessie left the room but Ash had new things to look forward in his system.

About Jessie, he didn't leave her just for her cute face, he didn't care but he wanted someone to manipulate the evidence and a living victim is easier to manipulate than a dead one.

And at last if nothing worked he would throw her under the bus putting all blame on her. The best thing that could happen was to never get in suspicion.

He looked to the screen. Killing those men didn't not only give Exp but also some store coins.
