Night.
The event concluded, and Anton returned to New York.
On the large bed.
He dispersed his two major clones and opened his tightly closed eyes.
Who knew that just going to check things out with Secretary of Defense John Keller would lead to such a mess?
This day's experience felt more tiring than the entire past week.
However, the gains were enormous, so it wasn't a loss.
He rolled out of bed and went to the living room, where he saw the old man reading a book.
"Are you awake?"
Jonah Jameson asked, seeing Anton "wake up." "What's the situation with Batman?"
"A few minor problems arose."
Anton shrugged, a helpless expression on his face.
"Minor problems?"
Jameson was taken aback, realizing that the "minor problems" Anton referred to were likely far from minor.
"Don't worry, everything's taken care of!"
Anton sat down across from Jameson, smiling. Seeing the old man's expression ease, he suddenly said, "You've been resting for almost a year now, you must be pretty free, right?"
"Kid, what are you getting at?"
Jonah Jameson looked at Anton, squinting. "I have a feeling you're up to no good."
"Thinking about making a comeback?" Anton asked.
"Comeback?" Jameson scoffed. "You're running the Daily Bugle just fine. I have no reason to give up my current leisurely life. To be honest, it's not bad being a 'spoiled brat' who just spends money, like you used to be."
"But it's empty, and even Tony Stark became Iron Man. Besides, you're Jonah Jameson."
Anton subtly disparaged Tony, while praising his own old man.
Sure enough, the old man was pleased.
"Spit it out."
Jonah Jameson straightened his face: "What exactly do you want to do?"
"Under your leadership, the Jameson family already holds a respectable position, but we still have some shortcomings."
Anton said, "On the one hand, although the Daily Bugle has an advantage that others don't have in controlling public opinion, on the other hand, we are, after all, just a newspaper. Although we've dabbled in some industries, it's just pure investment, and being simply rich isn't enough to influence the situation."
"Being rich isn't enough? What else do you want to do?"
Jameson sensed Anton's ambition.
"I want to build a large enterprise like Stark Industries or Oscorp, one that can influence the situation."
Anton smiled. "Old man, isn't this also a dream you once had?"
"A dream?"
Jonah Jameson was taken aback. He looked at Anton, his heart filled with a sense of awe. He said in a deep voice, "Do you know, to become like Stark Industries or Oscorp, connections are secondary. Of course, I'm not saying they're unimportant... What I mean is, the reason they succeeded is because they achieved their own uniqueness."
"Uniqueness..."
Anton murmured, fully understanding Jameson's meaning.
In other words, it was about core technology.
Howard Stark and Norman Osborn were both scientists by trade. They used their intelligence to build a framework for their businesses, filling in the core, and then letting others implement and perfect it.
After years of development, Stark Industries and Oscorp naturally became towering trees.
Speaking of those two towering trees, you could compare them to Hammer Industries.
Both are major arms dealers, but the reputation and status of Hammer Industries are incomparable to Stark Industries and Oscorp. Why is that?
Isn't it because their core technology isn't up to par?
They can only rely on copying Stark Industries, coupled with slightly lower prices, to absorb a large number of domestic military and overseas orders.
Even if they reach the top with this model, they still won't be widely recognized!
No innovation!
Their products are unpopular!
They can only pick up scraps, meaning what Stark and Osborn don't want.
Why does Justin Hammer want to take over Oscorp so badly?
Isn't it because he's envious of Oscorp's advanced patents and technology in biological sciences and genetic technology?
As for arms?
Apart from being inferior to Stark Industries, in terms of arms business alone, Hammer Industries and Oscorp are actually not that different.
After all, Osborn wasn't just an arms dealer.
"I certainly have something unique."
Anton smiled slightly at Jonah Jameson: "Old man, it's been so long, please have a little faith in me."
As he finished speaking, he walked forward and placed his hand on Jameson's shoulder.
Whoosh!
The two of them instantly disappeared from the room.
Jameson only felt the scene flash before his eyes, and in the next moment, he arrived at a very unfamiliar place.
Looking around at the environment, this was...
"The sewers?"
Jonah Jameson was quite surprised: "I never knew the sewers could be this clean."
"Anton?"
Soon, a voice rang out.
Several tall turtles crashed into Jameson's field of vision.
Jameson immediately recognized the identities of these guys.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
Although he had been vacationing in Hawaii during this time, he was certainly paying attention to the news in New York.
It was worth mentioning that the content produced by the Daily Bugle recently had been recognized by New York and even the whole of America, thanks to Eddie's outstanding abilities.
Eddie's professional skills also made Jameson feel that he had made the right choice back then.
Just like he'd let Anton inherit the Daily Bugle.
"Who's this old guy?"
Michelangelo turned to Anton, surprised to see Jonah Jameson.
He knew Anton usually didn't bring strangers to the sewers.
"Is he some kind of wanted criminal?"
Michelangelo's imagination ran wild, circling Jameson twice: "And he's wearing men's cologne. Oh, this guy's scent is intoxicating."
Jameson's lips twitched, feeling quite awkward.
Anton laughed heartily, "He's my grandfather, Jonah Jameson, the man behind Batman, the real boss of the Daily Bugle. I brought him here today so he could see your recent progress."
"Progress?"
Donatello immediately understood and stepped forward, saying, "Follow me, Mr. Jameson. You're about to witness the greatest invention of this century."
The greatest of the century?
Jameson was taken aback when he heard this.
He couldn't really think of any invention that could be called the greatest of the century.
Of course, it was just an adjective.
And, coming from a person's mouth, it was highly subjective.
Jameson didn't mind, but he was still extremely interested in the invention Donatello spoke of.
What could possibly give Anton so much confidence?
He followed Anton to the lab in the sewers.
The first thing he saw wasn't various experimental equipment, but a man in a white lab coat, with a gentle and refined demeanor.
Beside this man was someone else, a person he was unfamiliar with.
However, he didn't pay any attention to the latter, staring fixedly at the former, and was greatly surprised.
"You are... Curt Connors, Doctor Lizard?"
Jonah Jameson never expected to see Doctor Lizard here.
Doctor Lizard and Batman weren't sworn enemies?
That's what the Daily Bugle always wrote!
Were they trying to fool him?
Jameson looked at Anton in astonishment.
Anton gave him a slight smile, thinking, you haven't seen anything yet that would be even more surprising.
Then, Jonah Jameson noticed the change in Connors.
Connors' hands were whole!
No way!
Everyone in New York who had seen the news knew Connors' story.
Connors' transformation into Doctor Lizard stemmed from his own disability.
Jameson had a sudden flash of insight, remembering the news Oscorp had released to the public, coupled with Connors' undamaged arms...
He suddenly understood what Anton wanted to show him.
"Limb Regeneration Technology!"
Jameson was slightly shocked, "I didn't expect you to actually achieve this!"
"Not bad."
Anton nodded, smiling. "With this core technology, we can smoothly open up the situation."
"But it's not enough."
Jonah Jameson, after his initial excitement, quickly calmed down. "Just Limb Regeneration Technology will at most make us the next Life Foundation. We're still a long way from Stark and Osborn."
"Besides limb regeneration, I have a lot more I haven't shown yet, including weapons, even energy, and even life genes. Everything you want, I have!" Anton smiled. "Old man, limb regeneration is just the beginning."
"You're not lying to me?"
Jameson turned to stare at Anton, his eyes blazing with fire, a long-absent fighting spirit.
"Of course."
Anton revealed some information to Jonah Jameson: "Through today's actions, I've established a certain connection with the Aliens, and they won't be stingy about sharing alien technology with us."
"Are you so sure?" Jameson frowned. "They're Aliens."
Based on the recent Alien invasion, Jameson also had a degree of distrust towards Aliens.
"I have what they want."
Anton couldn't explain too much to Jameson, so he simply responded with the relationship of interests: "Don't worry, I know my limits."
"That's good."
Jameson breathed a sigh of relief and looked excitedly at the other openings in the sewer: "What else is there here that I haven't seen?"
"Let me introduce you first, Curt Connors, Bruce Banner, these two will be the company's chief scientists in the future."
Anton said with a smile, pointing at the purple-masked turtle, "And Donatello. He's very knowledgeable about computers, including modifying weapons – that's his specialty."
"Hello, I'm Jonah Jameson."
Jameson didn't dwell on Connors's past criminal record.
After all these years, he'd seen far worse, let alone Connors losing control.
"Also, since you're here, there's another person you might want to meet."
After Anton finished speaking, he led Jameson into a certain opening in the sewer.
A man with disheveled hair sat on a stool, weak and staring at Anton and Jameson with a fierce gaze as they approached.
"You're..."
Jonah Jameson's expression froze when he saw the person. "Norman?! What are you doing here?"
"You're not unfamiliar with him."
Anton said, "Of course, I'm talking about his other identity—Green Goblin!"
"Green Goblin?!"
Jameson was dumbfounded, his expression suddenly becoming strange, and he laughed. "Norman would be stupid enough to blow up his own company... This really isn't the Norman Osborn I know."
"He's indeed not the Norman you know."
Anton explained, "Because of a hereditary disease, he injected himself with a human enhancement drug, leading to a split personality. What you see now is his Green Goblin persona. I've locked him up here, planning to cure his mental illness! Eliminate the side effects of the human enhancement drug!"
"That's a good idea. He's the founder of Oscorp, he'll be very useful."
Jonah Jameson always approached things from a purely business perspective.
At this moment, there was no sign whatsoever of the previous conversation Norman had with Anton about their supposed friendship.
Anton wasn't surprised.
Executives from major companies knew each other and cultivated relationships; that was just how things worked.
With the vast network of contacts Jameson had built up, it wouldn't be strange to say that he knew everyone and had connections everywhere.
But to say he was close to everyone? That was simply impossible.
"Let's go."
After explaining the current situation, Anton turned and left with Jameson.
Before leaving the sewers, he instructed Donatello, "Transfer Norman to the prison inside the War Fortress. I'll have Cyborg give you the access rights."
"Understood."
Donatello nodded.
"By the way, how are the lab relocation arrangements coming along?"
"Uh, Connors and Banner don't seem to want to move the lab to the War Fortress. They think the sewers are a convenient place. The War Fortress would make them feel strange, after all, that place isn't Earth! Anyway, they have the teleportation bracelets, so if they need the War Fortress's computer calculations, it's very convenient, they can teleport at any time."
"Alright, whatever you guys want."
Anton didn't force the lab to move. He'd leave the experiments to the professionals.
After that, he and Jameson returned home.
"It's easy to get started with Limb Regeneration Technology, but the next step, expanding into other fields, is a huge problem. You need a product that stands out."
Jonah Jameson was getting excited.
Having learned so many secrets from Anton, he quickly built a concept in his mind and immediately planned to put it into practice.
"That's easy. Once you get the framework set up, I can come to you anytime with new technologies when you need them."
Anton was very calm.
He had the entire planet of Autobots as a backup!
"So, the last question."
Jameson turned to Anton: "What name should we give this company?"
"Jameson Company?"
Jonah Jameson squinted, a bit annoyed: "Damn it, that name's already taken by another Jameson!"
"Wayne Company."
Anton thought for a moment, then smiled, "Let's call it Wayne Company."
"Wayne?"
Jameson had at least seen the Batman movies.
He murmured, "Bruce Wayne, Wayne Company, Batman's company…"
He looked at Anton, nodded, and said, "Alright, let's call it Wayne Company. With Batman's name attached, the company will gain immediate recognition."
"Trust me, soon, Wayne Company will become Wayne Group."
Anton was brimming with confidence as he outlined his plans for Jameson.
"In the future, the Wayne Company will be involved in all aspects of society, including aviation, transportation, aircraft manufacturing, biotechnology, chemistry, construction, electricity, energy, entertainment, food, medicine, manufacturing, mining, oil, retail, securities, steel, weapons, and even ocean shipping, and so on!"
"Most importantly, we'll be richer than Stark, even richer than a king!"
Slap!
A sudden slap landed on Anton's forehead.
"Stop dreaming! The company isn't even registered yet!"
Jameson was quite dismissive: "Stop trying to sell me on your pie in the sky! When I was conning people, your dad was still just a sperm in my body!"
