Chapter 176 - Wayne Company's Big Development! The Scheming Old Man!

New York.

Anton walked out of the airport. Betty, his nominal assistant, was there to pick him up.

"How's the situation at DC Company recently?"

Anton asked calmly as he sat in the car.

"The Flash TV series has reached the fourth episode, with an average viewership rating of 1.1, ranking sixth in the same time slot. Although it's not as good as those highly popular series, it far exceeds the TV station's renewal standards... Judging from the feedback from comic and novel fans, everyone is very supportive. The negative review rate is only twenty percent, with fourteen percent of fans remaining neutral, and the rest are positive."

Betty said, "Especially Wonder Woman, the first episode's easter egg is the most concerning issue for fans, and everyone is looking forward to seeing your next work."

This result wasn't actually that great, just average.

However, in his previous life, the first season of The Flash, while breaking the record of the small station, CW, with a premiere rating of 1.9, the final result seemed to stabilize around just over 1. The lowest viewership even dropped below 1, and the highest didn't exceed 2.

Overall, while not excellent, it was definitely adequate, meeting Anton's expectations.

Based on the viewership of just over 1%, approximately 2 million Americans watched the show daily.

According to the Flash's fan value data displayed on Anton's system panel, this number wasn't far off from his estimate.

At least, since the Flash began airing, in a little over a month, the Flash's fan value had increased from 3 million to 8 million.

By the time the Flash ended, this number would likely reach 15 million.

With a cycle of 12 episodes per season, three months was about the same as his movie's filming schedule.

The cost-effectiveness was indeed a bit higher.

In addition, Wonder Woman, who made a cameo in the first episode, plus the publicity during this period, had gained a lot of fan value, reaching 5.5 million.

And after the filming of the Wonder Woman movie wrapped up, there was a special crossover plot arranged by the writers.

Before the movie premiered, Wonder Woman would appear in the Flash TV series, no longer just as an Easter egg. Instead, she'd be a crossover character, helping Flash deal with enemies and generating buzz for the movie.

Anton estimated that, with the broadcast of this episode plus the movie's promotional materials, the increase in Wonder Woman's fan value would far exceed that of Flash.

Getting Wonder Woman's fan value to 10 million before the movie's release wouldn't be a problem.

"The movie's almost done filming. Have Jim prepare to release some of the promotional materials and start the official promotional work."

Anton nodded.

"Understood."

Betty nodded.

"Take me to Wayne Company next."

Anton said, closing his eyes for a moment of rest.

Soon.

Arriving at the relocated Wayne Company, Anton saw the old man he hadn't seen in a while.

Betty stood at the office door, not disturbing the reunion of the grandfather and grandson.

Anton walked into the spacious and bright office and saw Jonah Jameson at this moment. He didn't look at all tired. He was dressed in a suit and tie, with a cigar in his mouth, sitting in the boss's chair, looking relaxed and at ease. Instead, he looked like a villain, full of imposing manner.

"Anton, how's the movie going?"

The old man had already received the news that Anton was returning to New York and didn't feel surprised at all, chuckling.

"We've hit the jackpot!"

The old man spread his arms wide, filled with boundless enthusiasm. "A worldwide exclusive! We don't even need to advertise. Those perfectly healed disabled people will be our best advertisement."

"Small potatoes."

Anton shrugged. "Don't forget, this is just the beginning." "I've already spoken with Vice President Rodriguez. When the time is right, he'll introduce us to the military. With Secretary of Defense John Keller vouching for us, we'll become the new arms dealers with a large number of military orders."

The old man looked at Anton confidently. "The biggest problem now is the arms technology you promised me earlier."

"Technology isn't the problem. The problem is we can't just do business with the military."

Anton reminded him, "There are vast markets waiting for us, like the Middle East, or certain African countries."

"Don't worry."

The old man nodded calmly, "These matters have already been discussed. I've even contacted the Continental Hotel. As an ally of Batman, they're willing to contribute to Batman's endeavors."

Anton was stunned, staring at Jonah Jameson in astonishment. He never expected the old man to have contacted the Continental Hotel, or rather, the High Table, behind his back, without a sound.

Furthermore, the old man actually knew about the High Table's alliance with Batman!

This greatly exceeded Anton's expectations.

"The High Table..."

Anton started to speak, but before he could finish, the old man interrupted, "Anton, I know my limits."

After a pause, Jameson continued, "Don't forget, the Continental Hotel was the first to come knocking when you first told me you were Batman. Since you've been on good terms since then, there's no need for me to elaborate on what happened!"

"Alright, I'm at ease leaving the company in your hands."

Anton didn't say anything more.

The old man's actions did surprise him. But, remembering some things Norman Osborn had inadvertently revealed the first time they met, it was clear the old man was a scheming sort.

Perhaps he had a sense of justice. But in this era, doing what one could to live with a clear conscience was the greatest justice.

After all, the current world didn't welcome those who were absolutely just.

Besides, with the old man taking Batman's place in contacting the High Table and gradually expanding Wayne Company's influence into the underworld, he truly filled the void left by Batman in that realm.

In this way, Wayne Company had taken a significant step on the path to becoming a "conglomerate."

After a moment's thought, Anton took out a USB Drive and handed it to the old man.

"This contains some data on alien energy weapons, enough to deal with the military and the High Table."

He said, "I wasn't planning on giving it to you so soon, but the company's development has far exceeded my expectations. Plus, I won't be focusing on Wayne Company later, so I'm leaving the company to you!"

"Go and take care of your own business."

The old man took the USB Drive, nodded to Anton, and smiled, "I heard there's a lot of excitement at the Stark Industries Expo. Hammer Industries plans to showcase their latest weapons, and Osborn Company also has plans to flex their muscles. Plus, with the new armor Tony Stark revealed, tsk tsk, they're going to tear each other apart..."

"Aren't you going to watch the show?"

Anton understood the old man's subtext.

"Hmph."

The old man shrugged, "I'm not interested in their commercial competition. Besides, it's the development period for Wayne Company now; their fighting will be more beneficial to our development... With your USB Drive, I'll meet with some people tomorrow to accelerate Wayne Company's entry into the arms industry. We'll try to snatch the market left vacant by Stark Industries' announcement of its withdrawal from the arms industry while they're at each other's throats."

"Understood!"

Anton waved his hand. "I'm off."

"Get lost."

Huh, it seems like the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League is available... I plan to watch it after my exams. Anyone who's seen it, let me know what you think.
