"What?"
George's expression was grim. Hearing the report from the officers under him, he suspected he was listening to a tall tale rather than an account of an incident.
He repeated the report, suppressing his anger, and gritted his teeth, "You're saying that while you were questioning him, sand blew in your faces, making everyone unable to open their eyes? And when you opened your eyes, Justin Hammer was already kidnapped and gone!"
"Yes."
The officer looked aggrieved and nodded hesitantly.
George asked, "How do you know it was a kidnapping?"
The officer said, "The bodyguards said so. They said the person who took Justin Hammer was an enemy of Justin's, someone who possessed peculiar abilities."
"Strange ability?"
George squinted. Even though he had some doubts, he couldn't say anything: "Hmph, lock those bodyguards up. I want them interrogated the moment we get back. I want to know who kidnapped Justin Hammer! Strange ability! I really want to know who can summon sandstorms to kidnap someone!"
"…Sandstorms to kidnap someone!"
Anton stood beside George. Hearing the conversation between George and the police officers, his expression was a little strange.
From the words "sandstorms," he thought of a person.
However, he couldn't be sure.
"You also think it's a kidnapping?"
Anton looked at George curiously.
In George's opinion, as the New York Police Department's commissioner, George Stacy shouldn't have jumped to conclusions so quickly.
"It can't be a kidnapping!"
George said coldly, "I've never seen such a coincidental kidnapping case! It must be Justin Hammer who hired someone to put on a show with him!"
"I think so too."
Anton agreed: "But you have no evidence."
"So we can only lock his bodyguard in the interrogation room. Although I don't think Justin would leave such an obvious flaw, it's the only way right now."
George frowned and suddenly looked at Anton: "Where is Batman?"
"What are you implying?"
"I want Batman's help in investigating Justin Hammer's whereabouts! And... the identity of the person who supposedly kidnapped Justin!"
"I'll pass on your request, but I can't guarantee any results."
"That's enough! Thank you!"
The two parties ended their conversation, and George began to clean up the scene.
Anton calmed down.
"Anton, you definitely know something, don't you?"
Seeing George walk away, Eddie looked at Anton's expression and felt like he'd seen this scene before.
He asked curiously, "What did that wind and sand make you think of?"
Anton said, "That reminds me of someone."
Eddie asked, "Who?"
Anton pondered for a moment, recalling the information he'd gathered about the Osborn Company, and said, "Do you remember, about a few months ago, when Justin was preparing to take over the Osborn Company, a physics lab in New York was shut down? Apparently, there was an error in the experiment, and the expensive particle accelerator was damaged..."
"Of course I remember. I was the one who gave you that information."
Eddie pondered for a moment, then widened his eyes: "That physics lab was a high-end technology lab under the Osborn Company... You mean?" He paused, becoming even more curious. "But what does this have to do with this matter?"
Anton countered, "Do you remember how Max mutated into Electro?"
"You mean, someone was affected by the particle accelerator and mutated?"
Eddie was taken aback.
The surprise in his heart was beyond words.
Meeting two mutants with similar experiences in one night was even less likely than witnessing an armor battle.
Mutation was an incredibly rare event, a one-in-a-billion chance! Armor!
Technology!
The latter could be achieved with enough money. The former didn't reason with you at all, while the latter would at least discuss science! "Do you know who he is?"
"Of course, I call him Sandman…"
Anton was about to continue.
BOOM!!
In the distance, a raging fire erupted in the sky, accompanied by a massive mushroom cloud.
A massive wave of air swept across, powerful ripples of air like those on a lake.
Fireworks dotted the night sky over New York, but they didn't look beautiful, instead, they made everyone present feel a chill.
The sky was filled with gray smoke, and the smell of burning immediately filled the air.
Boom!
After the mushroom cloud, the fireworks didn't disappear, but continued to explode one after another.
All the way, it was Tony and Whiplash's battlefield.
Obviously, the battle belonging to Iron Man and the others was over, and the criminal who started the war had already been defeated.
"Damn it! How much is this going to cost? If there are any casualties, tonight will have been for nothing!"
George Stacy looked at the huge explosion in the distance, his face turning grim, and he silently pondered. Without asking, he understood what had happened.
Beep, beep, beep!
The communicator on his chest suddenly rang.
"Uh, Director?"
The voice of Leonardo, the leader of the Turtles, came from the other end: "The enemy is dead! But, he blew himself up!"
"He wasn't the only one who blew up, right?" George took a deep breath.
"Yes."
Another voice interjected, transmitted through the police's dedicated communication channel: "All the Iron Soldiers were tampered with by Ivan Vanko. Including Ivan Vanko and all the Iron Soldiers, they all exploded!"
"Damn it!"
George's eyes were vacant as he looked at the remaining flames in the distance: "I won't be getting off work tonight!"
"Tony!"
He clenched the communicator in his hand, grinding his teeth: "Stark Industries is responsible for this."
"Hey!"
Tony wasn't about to take the blame: "The Iron Soldiers are Hammer Industries' products. If you're looking for someone, go find Justin Hammer. Stark Industries has already withdrawn from the arms industry. I'm working as a volunteer tonight; I'm doing the New York Police Department a favor by not demanding an honorary citizen flag!"
"Justin Hammer has been kidnapped!" George said.
"What?"
Tony on the other side of the communicator was stunned: "What did you say?"
Tony and the others, having escaped the blast radius, all heard this conversation.
Harry was equally startled.
Justin Hammer had been kidnapped?
Was this a good thing?
On second thought, at such a critical time for Hammer Industries, Justin Hammer gets kidnapped…
It almost sounded like a graceful exit.
"Too convenient!"
Harry's eyes flickered, realizing the key point.
If he could think of this, Tony Stark wouldn't have missed it.
"I'll keep an eye on it."
Tony gave George the expected answer.
Actually, that's exactly the answer George wanted to hear.
Puff puff puff!
At that moment, a helicopter arrived on the scene from the distant sky.
Several figures George extremely disliked and didn't want to see got out of the helicopter.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. is trying to take advantage again?"
George crossed his arms, coldly looking at the approaching figures: "Coulson, don't tell me this matter is going to be your S.H.I.E.L.D.'s responsibility! If you can bear all the losses from this incident, I wouldn't mind handing over the initiative to you."
