"Since when does your girlfriend need to schedule an appointment to see you?"
Laura's face was deathly pale as she shot him an icy glare.
To everyone's shock, the child in Caleb's arms suddenly wriggled free and dropped to the ground.
Wide-eyed, the little boy stomped over to Laura and kicked her hard in the leg.
No one had expected this.
The entire room froze, staring in disbelief at the tiny troublemaker.

You stole my daddy!
You're a homewrecker!"
The boy planted his hands on his hips and glared at her, puffing up his cheeks in anger.
Only when Caleb sharply scolded him did he finally lower his head.
"Kids say the darndest things—don't take it to heart.
Have a seat with Auntie for a bit.
My parents should be back any minute."
Caleb gave Laura an awkward look before scooping up the little rascal and handing him off to a nearby maid.
His voice turned cold as he ordered, "Take him to bed.
He's tired."
