"Yes. There's always a need for ob-gyns. They're spending their retirement working harder than ever, and they're both happy as clams." Her smile dimmed. "I've got Elena Hernandez and her daughter Maya in my office. They're both very upset."
"We all are," said Peg Stiller. She stood on the other side of the long counter that separated a small seating area from the front office. She dotted her eyes with a tissue. "Lila is such a sweet girl. Her and Maya were like two peas in a pod."
Blue turned toward Peg. She was dressed in a navy-blue school T-shirt and khaki pants with white orthopedic shoes. Sad green eyes blinked from behind oversized black-rimmed glasses. Peg had bright red hair, worn in short waves over her ears. A pair of gold stud earrings twinkled from her lobes.
"You said were," Blue pointed out. She thought about the BFF bracelet Colt had found under Lila's bed. "Did something happen between them? A fight you witnessed?"
