Chapter 130 - One Week Together

It was a miracle we managed to sleep in the tent, because the house was still too dirty to stay in—and by the time we arrived, evening had already fallen. We were far too exhausted to even think about cleaning.

 

The next day, the first order of business was tackling the house.

 

The house smelled like old wood and something faintly citrusy—probably from the cleaning spray Eric insisted on using like holy water.

 

Kai had already claimed the deck, leaning over the railing and shouting, "THIS IS WHAT FREEDOM FEELS LIKE!" to absolutely no one.

 

"Sit down before you fall," Eric yelled back.

 

"Let him," Lance muttered. "Natural selection."

 

Ren stood beside me, hands in his pockets again, expression lethargic.

 

I really thought he'd sneak into my tent last night.

Good thing he still has some sense of self-preservation left.
