But they made up for it in numbers and their ability to heal. Even if you destroyed them, they would reassemble within tens of seconds. Just fighting the grunts was an endless task.
The immediate priority was to find Ultron. Only by defeating Ultron could these grunts be truly destroyed, unable to recover. Otherwise, with Ultron providing power, these iron soldiers would continuously regenerate.
"Increase the search efforts. We don't have much time. I can feel the air getting thinner."
Captain America's expression was worsening, mainly because they couldn't find Ultron, and they couldn't deal with the enemy grunts.
As Sokovia's altitude increased, the air became thinner, and the difficulty of the battle increased. If this continued, Sokovia would truly become a "meteor" that could endanger humanity!
A dozen iron soldiers charged towards Captain America. Just as he was about to raise his shield and get bogged down in the fight, two beams of light, one silver and one red, descended from the sky. The impact of their landing instantly shattered the iron soldiers rushing towards them.
Shattered like that, there was no way for them to recover.
"It's you guys?"
The two beams of light dissipated, revealing the figures within. Only then could Captain America clearly see who had arrived. It was Wanda and Quicksilver!
"Our boss sent us to help you. Get those police officers to retreat."
Quicksilver strode to the front of the group, speaking with a casual air.
As soon as he finished speaking, a shimmering light, interwoven with bright silver and emerald green, flashed around him. In an instant, everyone felt a blur before their eyes, and Quicksilver's body shuddered slightly. The Iron Soldiers that were attempting to attack were instantly blown to pieces, reduced to a pile of debris.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Wanda didn't hesitate either. Crimson and emerald green magic danced around her fingertips, like clever little creatures. They seemed cute, but they also carried a sharp whistling sound that echoed in everyone's ears.
Chaos magic seeped into the Iron Soldiers' bodies. In an instant, the green threads on them visibly turned red, then reversed course, and began fighting with the Iron Soldiers controlled by the Green Lantern energy. In the end, they all suffered mutual destruction.
The Avengers were stunned by this swift battle. They had only seen the twins twice.
The first time they met, the two were just test subjects for the Mind Stone experiments. The second time, they had surprisingly joined Han Yu's side. However, they never expected this.
In less than half a month, they had become so strong, ridiculously strong.
The Avengers knew that the Mind Stone, though mysterious, had given them some special abilities, but definitely not to this extent.
"They have Green Lantern Rings too? There's more than one of these things?"
Stark, behind his iron mask, narrowed his eyes. He recognized the green glow emanating from Wanda and Quicksilver during their fight; it was the same color energy as the Green Lantern sub-ring Han Yu had given him previously.
Did I use it wrong? Shouldn't I have extracted the energy?
Back then, he'd thought it was just a simple energy carrier. But seeing Wanda and Quicksilver in action, he understood.
The Green Lantern sub-ring wasn't just for storing energy; it could be directly drawn from the ring and used for offense and defense. He'd used it to create Ultron. He'd really messed up.
Watching Wanda and Quicksilver's fighting style, Stark was surprised there was more than one Green Lantern Ring. He finally understood the ring's true use. If he'd known how to use it from the start, he could have used the Mind Stone to create Ultron and kept the Green Lantern Ring as a trump card. Things wouldn't have ended up like this.
With Wanda and Quicksilver joining the fight, the Avengers' pressure was greatly relieved thanks to their powerful combat abilities.
These were all mindless iron soldiers. Ultron's only directive was to eliminate the Avengers, so they just kept charging forward.
"I'm fast, I'll go save people. Give me a headset."
Quicksilver said to Captain America. Although he hadn't completely let go of his resentment towards the Avengers, human lives were at stake. Being petty in a situation like this would only put others in danger.
"Alright, I'll give you a coordinate. Someone there needs help."
Captain America didn't waste any words. He took out two radio headsets, one for Wanda and one for Quicksilver.
"I don't think they want to kill us. It's more like… stalling us?"
Thor felt something was off. Although the enemy's attacks were always lethal, they hadn't used any large-scale, destructive weapons.
They should be using any means necessary. The reason they weren't using those kinds of weapons might be because they were afraid of damaging something?
Captain America anxiously looked at Stark in the sky. "Stark, have you located Ultron's position?"
"Not yet."
Stark's expression grew increasingly grim. The Sokovia island was rising higher and higher. While a fall wouldn't be devastating at this point, the impact would certainly kill everyone within a ten-mile radius.
Suddenly, Stark remembered something and asked Wanda and Quicksilver on the ground, "Where's Han Yu? Isn't he here?"
"Our boss is busy with his own affairs."
Quicksilver replied, his words sounding a bit ambiguous, as if Han Yu had come but also hadn't.
Deep beneath Sokovia, a massive cave had been excavated. It was filled with high-tech equipment of unknown purpose. The only thing that was recognizable were the blue-crystalline Vibranium ore within these devices.
At the top of the cave, green Green Lantern energy clung to the walls. It was this energy that blocked Stark's device searches, preventing him from finding Ultron for so long.
Ultron was fiddling with the machine in front of him, inputting commands and checking the equipment. Seeing that everything was ready, he smiled in satisfaction and muttered to himself.
"Everything's set then. Once this island breaks through the atmosphere, we'll use the reverse thrusters hidden beneath the surface to accelerate Sokovia's descent. The damage to Earth will be incalculable!"
"Hmm, using the Green Lantern energy as a shield is a good idea."
A chuckle echoed suddenly in the cave, causing Ultron to halt his work and turn to look.
A young man in his early twenties was sitting in a chair, legs crossed, and watching Ultron with a faint smile. It was Han Yu, who hadn't appeared on the battlefield.
"It's you?"
Ultron's voice held a hint of surprise at the sight of the young man. Someone had actually found his location.
"Surprised?"
Han Yu stood up with a smile, completely unfazed by Ultron. Instead, he strolled around the cave, observing Ultron's designs.
