Chapter 122 - Don’t Wait for the Skill’s Startup to End:

"Wait, wait, why do you need so many?" Lisdaid asked.

"Spare ones… spares for the spares… spares for the spares for the spares…" Han Yu replied calmly.

Lisdaid covered her face. This hero was just too cautious—bringing so much equipment, he could have opened a wholesale shop along the way.

Thinking of that, she pushed him while walking and said, "You don't need that many. Hurry and deal with Kaios first. Only after you finish her can you get good equipment in that little town."

Han Yu nodded silently. He then asked, "How much longer do we have? How far is the town from here?"

"Just over five minutes, about a kilometer. Why?" Lisdaid answered honestly. As soon as she said it, she saw a thoughtful expression appear on Han Yu's face, and she suddenly felt uneasy.

"Hmm, a professional athlete can run a kilometer in about two minutes and twenty seconds. With my physique, one minute is enough!"

With that, Han Yu grabbed Lisdaid's wrist, lowered his center of gravity, and assumed a sprinting stance.

Lisdaid barely had time to be embarrassed before the strong wind resistance from his sprint distorted her features, like her skin had been stretched.

The path ahead was mostly mountainous. Even the muddy, slippery road didn't slow Han Yu down at all.

Under this fierce wind, Lisdaid struggled to open her eyes and noticed that on mud pits that should have swallowed a normal step, Han Yu's feet barely touched the ground. Each step unleashed a burst of air, using the rebound to propel his body forward even faster.

By the time they reached the town's entrance, Han Yu finally stopped. He looked back and said with satisfaction, "A kilometer in forty-two seconds. Not bad for here."

"You… are you even human? A kilometer in forty-two seconds… almost twenty-four meters per second. No normal person could do that!"

Despite Han Yu running, Lisdaid was the one gasping for breath. She sat on the ground, disheveled as if the two of them had just done something indescribable.

Han Yu's gaze wasn't on her. It was fully fixed on the small town ahead.

Above the town, the sky contrasted sharply with the outside: the area outside was clear and sunny, full of birdsong and flowers, but inside the town, the sky had turned blood red, like a villain had descended.

Han Yu pushed open the town gate. Instantly, a sense of oppression washed over him.

In the town center, Kaios stood, holding a greatsword, surrounded by terrified townspeople kneeling on the ground.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the Hero and the Goddess. Finally arrived," Kaios said, licking her crimson lips. Though she called them "lords," it was sarcasm, not respect.

Han Yu's steps did not falter. One hand pressed on his scabbard, the other gripped the sword hilt and drew it.

A careful observer would notice faint footprints with each of Han Yu's steps. The town streets were made of solid stone bricks—leaving impressions proved just how strong he was.

Seeing no reaction, Kaios felt a thin veil of fear creep over her. She had only felt this fear from one person before—the strongest in this world, the Demon King.

Facing Han Yu, clad in black with feathers fluttering in the wind, she sensed an oppressive aura without him even speaking.

"He's just a newly arrived hero… what's with all this pretense? Once I capture you, I'll tie you up and watch the townspeople's heads drop one by one!"

Kaios attacked first, rushing forward. Her greatsword radiated a crimson aura as she swung it fiercely at Han Yu's head.

"Is that all?"

Han Yu looked up, his eyes cold and indifferent. His body flashed, and Kaios's sword cut through nothing. The next second, an enormous force struck her back.

She coughed violently and was thrown through the air, leaving a deep gouge on the ground.

"How is this possible? A few minutes ago he was only level one… how could he unleash this strength? Even though the Demon King said time flows slower in the divine realm, it's only a few hours… how could he reach this level?!"

Coughing blood, Kaios stared at Han Yu in disbelief. Without "ability perception," she still thought he was level one and couldn't comprehend such speed and power.

He had already far surpassed her level sixty-six!

"I can't suppress my true power any longer… release it!" Kaios's eyes gleamed with crimson malice. She reversed her sword and thrust it into her own abdomen.

"What is she doing… self-harm?!" Lisdaid was shocked. Was this villain crazy too?

"Hehehe, watch carefully! This is my ultimate—Demonic Curse Killing Sword. You all just… hey, what are you doing?!"

Kaios was about to laugh wildly when Han Yu appeared in front of her, raising his long sword.

"Wasn't that your ultimate skill? Do I have to wait for your skill animation to finish?"

In these over-the-top anime-like worlds, a "skill startup" is the exaggerated motion a character performs before attacking or casting. Kaios stabbing herself instead of transforming first counted as a flashy startup.

But Han Yu wouldn't give her the chance.

"Vacuum Ice Blade!"

A low shout left his mouth. Two ice blades formed around his long sword, creating a vacuum between them that enhanced their hardness, and they slashed toward Kaios.

The limbs she struck were instantly frozen, the ice rapidly spreading to cover her whole body, encasing her and her sword in a solid ice sculpture.

"Han… Han Yu, you're amazing! What technique is that? I thought you only had fire magic."

Lisdaid was stunned. As a newly appointed goddess, she didn't know when the hero should have what abilities, but she could tell that at Han Yu's level, such combat power was extraordinary.

Han Yu glanced at her coldly but ignored her. Lisdaid suddenly felt uneasy.

Han Yu raised his hand. The white feathers on his body moved without wind. The ground around him erupted with numerous ice spikes, forming a protective ring around him.

"Nine-Layer Ice Tower!"
