Ethan's POV
I told myself this trip was for her.
I didn't want Soraya seeing me as her captor—or Silverfang as her prison. She'd been through enough already, and if bringing her to the city could remind her of who she used to be, then maybe she'd stop looking at me like I was the one keeping her caged.
At least, that was the plan.
Now, sitting beside her in the car as the city skyline stretched ahead, I wasn't so sure anymore. The silence between us wasn't new—it had become our normal—but this one felt heavier. Thicker. Maybe because of that kiss last night, the one I still couldn't stop thinking about. I wanted to talk about it, to tell her what it meant, what it did to me. But not now.
Now, I just needed to focus on getting her to the city and back safely.
