Ethan's POV
The drive to Nightshade felt like a race against time itself. Every red light, every pedestrian crossing the street, felt like a taunt. Soraya was out there somewhere, and I couldn't wait. I had no patience for hesitation, no time for caution.
When I reached Lucas' mansion, the gate refused to open. The scanner blinked red. I hit the horn repeatedly, frustration burning through me, until the gravel crunched behind me and warriors spilled into view. Lucas followed, his brow furrowed.
"What's going on?" one of them asked.
I didn't answer. I climbed out of the car, eyes locking on Lucas. He stopped short, surprise clear.
"Ethan Vander?" Lucas barked. "Open the gate."
The latch clicked, and the massive doors swung inward. I stepped through without hesitation, leaving the engine running behind me, the door still open as I strode toward Lucas.
"What is the Alpha of Silverfang doing in my mansion… alone?" Lucas asked, his gaze sweeping over the yard, reading every detail.
