Chapter 2 - The Great Encounter with God

In a distant village in the far east, surrounded by great mountains and tall trees, a little village was nestled in the middle of the so-called White Shining Mountain. The village is made mostly of wood, cement, and some other materials like iron; one may think that doesn't look like a village, but it is in a kingdom where buildings are made from cosmic stones of all levels. This village is nothing but a hut in the midst of the Great Sky Doa continent; not to even talk of the Great Sky Doa continent, even in the nearest kingdom, which is considered slightly near average, the poor couldn't even afford low-formation stone buildings.

The village is far in the countryside, and they survive by rearing sheep, goats, and other livestock. Some of the villagers are hunters who go far into the mountains to hunt, and if they're lucky, they'll bring back hunted animals on carriages, and the whole village will party through the night. However, this rarely occurs, and sometimes they'll bring back nothing, so it's not always a jackpot. But most times, they return with quite a few hunted animals.

The village is like a little town, slightly populated with thousands of people, with markets where they sell day-to-day items like groceries, metal, and little chunks of natural mineral stones, including cosmic stones and silver. Workshops are not a rare sight to behold in the village. The village chief and vice village chief take care of exporting goods and raw materials to the nearest kingdom for sale and also purchase a few items that can't be found in the outskirts of the kingdom. The village chief also visits the military of the kingdom and pays tribute for the protection of the village, in exchange for the tributes the kingdom sends 20 military soldiers to defend the village. The nearest kingdom to the village is the Kingdom of Great Ling Empire.

A little boy, born into the village of Shan Zhong, ran out to meet his father, "Father, you are back!" His father chuckled slightly and said, "Yh, I'm back, and guess what I brought back?" The little boy's eyes lit up in amazement because his father rarely bought items from the nearest kingdom for him since everything there was so expensive; even the items that were sold for 3 copper in the village were sold for 20 copper in the kingdom. So every time his father bought something from the kingdom, it was always something precious.

The little boy couldn't wait any longer and asked, "What did you get for me?" His father gave him a little baby beast that looked like its body was covered with twelve isotropic gemstones like formation and the beast appearance was like stone most precious even like a jasper stone,; even its eye shone like a jasper stone. The little boy was even more amazed and was happy, asking, "Heh, heh, heh, I will make you... uh, uh, I can't think of a name to give it." The father rubbed his head slightly and said, "You don't have to name it now; you can think of a name later. I know you are curious about my experiences in the kingdom, but first, let me go in and bathe before I tell you about my journey. Come in with the beast; I have something to tell you." The boy has little to no martial cultivation strength, so his father bought a pet for him so that he can nurture it and at least the pet could keep him safe.

The little boy will soon find himself and his family feeling like ants within the vast continent of the cultivation world. His mother walked to the entrance of the house and greeted her husband and went to offload the carriage. The little boy ran in with the beast. His father called, "Yiselie, Yiselie!" The boy answered, "Sir?" "Won't you go and help your mother outside?" He then came rushing out with excitement in his heart. He saw his friend, or rather best friend, outside and called, "Enhui, why are you calling me as if I'm far away?" He laughed. Yiselie told him in excitement about the pet his father bought for him. Enhui was amazed at the description of the pet Yiselie described it, and before he could say anything, again a strong wind blew against the village, so much that it lifted up those two little boys up a little. The entire village was in turmoil about what had just happened. Before everyone could recover, two cultivators suddenly appeared in the village, one wearing a black dress with white linen, the other just wearing a mixture of red, orange, and green, and shouted, "All of you in this village will surely die!"

The village chief and the vice village chief came out to meet these two individuals. "What do we have to do with you, sirs? Give me that beast!" The village vice chief said, "We didn't steal it, sirs." The cultivator wearing black was infuriated and killed almost half the villagers in one stroke of his hand as he waved. Soon, there was a great cry of agony in the village. The village chief stepped forward, "Sirs, we have done you no harm, so why do you do us such a thing?" He laughed, "You think that's how the world works? Know this: the weak are evil, and even living as a poor person is already a crime in this world." So, the village chief called, "Yiselie, bring the beast!" The boy couldn't move due to shock, after all, he had just witnessed his best friend and his fellow villagers being slain. So, the boy's father had to go inside the house and bring out the little beast. Seeing the little beast still sleeping, his father nodded his head in regret, "Only if I didn't have such bad luck." As he approached them, the man stretched his hand and looked at the beast, "Useless beast," he sighed, "Should have known that a useless villager can only buy useless things." The man waved his hands, and the beast seemed to have shattered into dust. The boy's eyes opened wide in agony at the action of the two men; they had just killed his best friend, and now they had destroyed his friend; he didn't see the beast as a pet.

The cultivators then flew away into the sky, and they were soon out of their sight. So, the boy looked up to the stars, kneeling down and prayed, "If there is an eternal God that made all things, even cultivators and greater than all cultivators, being, and all universe and reality, then I want to serve Him, and I want to become even stronger to defend those that are close to me." He bit his lips and remembered that no martial cultivators accepted him as their student because his talents were too dull, and his cosmic energy was just too low. A martial cultivator once told him his talents and energy were worse than those of a pig. Even some pigs were cultivated using martial cultivation and were killed to prepare delicious delicacies and were beneficial to martial practitioners.

As he prayed, a gentle breeze whispered,

"In the depths of despair, a seed is sown,

The seed of hope, I only have ,

A flame that never flickers, never dies,

A light that shines, in the darkest night."

Illuminates all.

He sighed to himself, rose up, and carried the dead body of his best friend to the cave that was used by the villagers to burn the dead. He bowed down slightly and said, "If You, eternal God, will hear and care not about how useless I am, can You please save my friend? And I will dedicate my life to serving You." For he knew everything must have been created by an eternal being, great and far too great to comprehend. He said this, weeping silently. The villagers were also all in tears, like hopeless lambs in the midst of lions.

As he was praying and walking to the cave, an extremely white, burning fire descended upon a mountain to their north. The fire was 10 km tall and 62 km wide, and the whole village was amazed by its purity and whiteness. They all bowed to the fire, knowing it was otherworldly because it was alive. This fire wasn't just fire; it resembled a great, burning light. A man appeared in the fire with hair and head as white as snow and eyes like the sun emitting light in its full strength, body like the color of sea green, arms and feet like the color of brass burned in a furnace, and under his feet were blue crystals like the sky. The villagers felt the heat but weren't harmed; instead, they felt comforted. Then, the boy heard a voice from his arms whispering softly, "Put me down." He thought he had heard a ghost speak. He bowed down and saw his best friend, who was now lying on his lap, with opened eyes. The other villagers also saw their family members who were dead and already cast into the cave to be burnt coming out of the cave, confused.
