At 7:00, once the trays were cleared and their stomachs full, they stepped outside. The night air was cool and clean after the stuffy smell of burgers and fries. Sid walked side by side with Big D through the neighborhood streets, hands tucked into his hoodie pocket.
The pace was slow, steady, nothing intense. Just the shuffle of shoes on pavement, the hum of passing cars, and the faint buzz of neon from shops still open. Big D burped loudly,
"Man, that hit the spot. Greasy, cheap, perfect. Better than your egg sandwich mornings."
Sid gave him a side glance.
"Don't knock my egg sandwiches. Those things keep me alive when I'm hanging from ledges."
"Yeah, yeah… But tonight? Burgers were the real fuel. I swear, you'll climb that tower faster powered by fries alone."
