Fish-Man Island.
A nearly transparent, double-layered hemispherical bubble membrane shield enclosed the entire island. Between the two layers was an air pocket.
This design functioned as a defensive measure, specifically targeting certain unruly coated ships.
If such vessels tried to force their way into Fish-Man Island, the coating would automatically peel off as they passed through the outer membrane, fusing into the shield. Some ships would plunge into the air pocket and then crash downward; even if a ship somehow managed to brute-force its way through, it would be swept away by the seawater stored inside the shield.
In short, there was no way to survive.
Inside the island, bubble-based tools and facilities were everywhere. Most buildings were constructed along coral reefs, their style blending perfectly with the environment, looking like a fairy-tale dream town.
"It's really beautiful!"
Staring at the azure sky, the pure white clouds, and the countless fish swimming past outside the bubble membrane, Mutou Yugi couldn't help but exclaim in genuine admiration.
Sure, with a single activation of a Field Spell, he could see anything up close — a dreamy fairytale town, a blazing magma hellscape, a dead and silent Lost Paradise, a futuristic technological metropolis, or endless rolling mountain ranges… but those were holographic projections. They lacked a certain sense of reality.
"Mm. Very beautiful…"
Mahad and Atem agreed. But the moment the words left their mouths, they felt that something was off, though neither could quite put their finger on what.
Gazing up at the blue sky, white clouds, and the fish and sea beasts beyond the shield, they pondered for a moment until—A slap of the palm, as if a shining lightbulb popped up beside their heads.
"OHH~~~!"
The moment of realization was followed by confusion.
"Fish-Man Island is located 10,000 meters under the sea. Where is the sunlight coming from? And what's with the sky and clouds?"
"The sunlight is provided by the Sunlight Tree Eve, which grows near Fish-Man Island. Its canopy absorbs sunlight at the surface and transmits it down to the roots, causing the roots to emit a strong glow just like sunlight."
Muyang resolved their doubts. Atem and Mahad were amazed.
"What an incredible tree."
But Yugi focused on something else entirely.
"If its roots extend more than ten thousand meters… then how tall is its trunk?"
Muyang was just about to answer when White Yaksha cut in first.
"Who cares about that…"
"What matters are mermaids! The mermaids! Mer! Maids!"
She repeated it three times, emphasizing each syllable at the end.
Hearing this, Muyang stopped his explanation and turned his gaze toward the topmost level of Fish-Man Island — a luxurious palace built from coral reefs, shells, and various other materials, with a giant dragon coiled around it.
His sight pierced through layers of obstacles, reaching the king of the Ryugu Kingdom—Neptune, known as the "Great Knight of the Sea"—who was drinking and chatting with Whitebeard, as well as the equally eye-catching mermaid princess of Ryugu Kingdom.
"Then let's go to Ryugu Palace first. To see the mermaid princess."
As soon as he finished speaking, space distorted.
...
The extremely spacious banquet hall was completely dry. As it was meant for hosting Whitebeard, all seawater had long been drained.
Beautiful mermaids with bubble swim rings around their waists bustled around the hall. In the center stood a seashell-shaped stage where mermaid musicians played cheerful banquet music.
Around the stage, pirates and mermaids danced to the melody.
Marco held a bottle of wine in his left hand, hooked his right arm around Shark Star's neck, beaming brightly as he swayed with the rhythm.
As the crown prince of the Ryugu Kingdom, Shark Star showed no princely airs and swayed along with the same bright smile.
Second Prince Emperor Star improvised lyrics to the music, while Manboshi danced energetically. Pirates all around them cheered loudly, the noise almost loud enough to blow off the roof. The atmosphere was incredibly lively.
Neptune clinked bowls with Whitebeard, both downing their drinks in one gulp.
Beside Neptune, Shirahoshi clapped happily as she watched the bustling banquet.
Though she was the mermaid princess, her life had always been in danger. To protect her, she had moved into the Hard-Shell Tower ten years ago and had almost never left.
But this banquet was held in honor of Whitebeard, one of the Four Emperors. Neptune trusted that even if something unexpected occurred, Whitebeard could resolve it. So he arranged for Shirahoshi to leave the tower and attend.
Neptune also planned to ask Whitebeard, after the banquet, to deal with Vander Decken IX.
But before the banquet even ended, Vander Decken IX's threat flew directly into the hall.
Seeing someone threaten his friend's daughter, Whitebeard didn't hesitate — he grabbed his blade and went straight for the kill.
He marched into Vander Decken IX's lair and beheaded him in a single strike.
Thus, today's banquet was a celebratory one.
The hall was ablaze with excitement. Everyone was having a great time, and no one paid attention to the corners of the room.
In the unnoticed corner, Muyang and his group appeared abruptly — and no one sensed a thing.
Their vision flickered, and the scene before them completely changed.
The empty coral-rock shore vanished without a trace, replaced by a chaotic scene of revelry.
"..."
Atem and Mahad opened their mouths as if wanting to say something, but in the end nothing came out. It seemed they couldn't figure out how to describe what they were seeing.
Mutou Yugi was startled for a moment at the chaotic, rowdy scene, but quickly recovered—only to be shocked again when his gaze swept over two colossal mermaids.
There were mermaids this large? Completely beyond expectations.
White Yaksha was also startled. Mermaids the size of giants were far outside her predictions.
As a being who lived in the Little Garden, she had seen mermaids from various pantheons — like the Sirens of Greek mythology…
Though mermaids in mythology varied in beauty, their size was generally close to that of humans.
She had never imagined that mermaids could be giant-sized.
The key question was…
Why were there mermaids this huge?
Did a giant and a mermaid somehow…?
No no no, impossible. The size difference was too outrageous…
Impossible. Absolutely impossible.
Shaking her head, White Yaksha pondered other possibilities. For the moment, she had no interest in admiring the mermaid ladies' impressive figures.
As for Muyang, although he already knew the mermaid princess was giant-sized, seeing her with his own eyes still startled him briefly.
The surprise didn't last long — just a second or two.
Muyang stepped forward toward Neptune. Atem and the others snapped out of their daze at Muyang's movement and quickly followed.
They walked across the chaotic banquet hall to Neptune's side, and not a single person stopped them.
The reason was likely simple — no one knew they weren't part of Whitebeard's crew.
As for the people of Ryugu Palace, there was no way they recognized everyone present.
The Whitebeard Pirates were the same — 1,600 core members, plus 43 allied crews. There was no way to know every individual.
"Neptune," Muyang asked,"do you have a wish?"
