Chapter 29 - The Silence Before the Chaos

The main star of the show is sleeping in the guest room of the king's palace, but he has to wake up early in the morning. It is not because of Alice or Aries, and it is also not Aunt Mary. The one who called him was his mother—on his wristwatch.

Ray quickly got up when he saw "Mother" calling him on his wristwatch. He quickly picked up the call in panic and asked, "Hello, Mother! Is something wrong?"

Because his mother doesn't call him at this hour unless there is some serious need. But then he heard his mother saying that he had fought with the prince and won. She started to say that she was proud of him and all. But it seems the assassination attempt was kept hidden and was not allowed to be made public outside of the kingdom.

So Ray told his mother that there was also an assassination attempt. There were people who wanted to kill him. And he also gave his point of view. It seems that the assassination attempt was probably done by the queen herself. And they didn't allow the news to spread any further. That is why his mother hadn't heard anything about the assassination attempt.

Hearing that he was almost killed, Diana said she was coming—and would come to protect him. Ray said, "There is no need." But his mother ignored his words and had already started making her way. Ray could only accept it and couldn't convince his angry mother.

He had freshened up and got a call from the outside, asking for his presence. He could already guess why he was being summoned—most probably to make sure he didn't let anyone know about the assassination attempt. But who is he? He is no Duke, but he is an inventor from the Inventor Guild. They dared to touch a brother of an inventor—they are asking for revenge. But he is a good guy. He would rather not take revenge; only some handsome payment will do.

Ray, coming outside, saw that Rena was the one calling him from outside. Ray, acting innocent, asked, "Has the princess summoned me? She could have called me through her wristwatch, and I would have come to her. She didn't need to call you here, Caretaker Rena."

Rena sighed and said, "Little Ray, Her Highness Alicia is calling you. It seems she needs to talk to you about something."

Ray nodded and asked, "What about the assassins? Did the king find out who is aiming at the prodigy of the younger generation?"

Rena looked at the kid who was calling himself a prodigy and found it funny. She chuckled—but Ray is correct; he is indeed a prodigy. And targeting the prodigy of the kingdom is a crime equal to, and second only to, targeting the royal prince or princess.

Rena then shook her head to get over her thoughts and said, "Little Ray, let's not talk about this here. More details will be given by Her Highness, the Third Concubine. Please follow me."

Ray nodded and followed her. Ray was observing Rena's reactions, and it seemed she knew a lot more than she was saying. But it also seemed that the information he wanted would be given by Alicia.

After a while, they entered the courtyard of Alicia. This time, he wasn't invited into the dining hall. He was invited to the office of Alicia. There was a table and a boss chair. There were two chairs in front of it for the people she discusses with. There were a few beautiful portraits hanging on the wall here and there. Alicia was currently working on some papers.

Rena told Ray to take a seat. After that, Rena also took her own seat beside Ray. They waited for Alicia to finish her work. Alicia had already noticed that Ray and Rena had arrived, but she only looked at them after she finished her work.

Alicia looked up and sighed. She said, "Ray, I am sorry. I said I would take care of all the consequences if you defeated Lucas. I didn't expect this to happen. Rena took care of the assassins. We thought the assassins were from a different family. But it seems the assassins were our own people. It seems that in anger and jealousy over you defeating Lucas and taking away the precious position of her son—being the youngest prodigy and sword force user—this happened."

Alicia further said, "And it seems she claims that she didn't want to cripple or kill you, it seems. She—"

Before she could say anything more, Ray asked, "Do you believe that?"

Alicia hesitated to answer, and before she could explain anything, Ray shook his head and said, "You hesitated because even you don't believe it. Did you tell them about my other identity yet?"

Alicia shook her head and said, "It happened so suddenly that I didn't get the chance to say it. After seeing the assassin was from Queen Elizabeth, Daymond directly ordered the few people who know to keep everything a secret and not let the news go out. Now, the only person who knows everything is you—and that is why the king is summoning you."

Ray chuckled. "That's great. I will get to reveal my other identity as well. I want to hear what the king has to say."

Alicia became surprised and said, "It's not necessary to say anything about your identity to start a—"

"War? I don't think I'll need to escalate things that far, but I can ask for some land, crystal stones, or privileges. You can pick one. Anyway, I'm just waiting for my mother to come," said Ray.

Hearing that Ray's mother was coming, both Rena and Alicia became shocked. Alicia asked, "Your mother—you mean Diana, who is also known as the 'Storm of Chaos'?"

Rena also asked, "Why is the Storm of Chaos coming to the palace?"

"I've not heard of any 'Chaos of Storm,' but yes, my mother is coming," Ray replied. "She called me about defeating Lucas and wanted to know the details. But it seems she didn't know about the assassination part, so I let her know. And since I can see that King Daymond is calling me—maybe to pressure me into keeping quiet—I think this is the perfect time for my mother to come and help me out as well."
