Chapter 64 - CHAPTER 64

Announcement

"All done now?"

"Yes, thank you."

In the end, I got all eight autographs. With no proper autograph boards around, he signed them in a notebook, but that should be more than enough.

"No photo?"

"If it's okay, I'd like one."

"I don't mind."

"Then I won't pass up. Composer, would you like to join too?"

Since we were taking one anyway, I thought the three of us could, but the composer just shook his head while chewing his sandwich.

"I'll pass."

"It'd be nice if you joined."

"A middle-aged guy like me standing next to you two? That's torture."

Hmm… maybe he had a point. Forget me—Moon Changsik was a rising star right now.

The composer wasn't bad-looking—above average, even—but compared to me and Changsik? He couldn't measure up.

Not to mention his age.

"At least you're honest about it."

"Want me to lie instead?"

"No thanks. Just hand me your phone. I'll play photographer—line up together."

"What an honor."

So I stood up from the table and lined up with Moon Changsik against a white wall.

Was that enough? It looked a little bland.

"Wait."

If we were taking it, might as well make it look good.

"Get closer. Pretend we're friends."

I shifted him a little closer and propped my elbow on his shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

"C'mon, we ate together—this much is fine."

I even brushed his hair back once and added my brightest natural smile.

That should do it. My teammates and Hye-jung were going to lose their minds.

"Alright, shoot it like this."

"Honestly…"

"Okay, here we go. One, two, three."

The photo came out—

and wow.

"Whoa, what the…"

Up until the moment I leaned on him and smiled, Changsik's face had been stiff and awkward.

But in the photo, his expression had transformed into that of a perfect celebrity—bright and flawless.

"Professional, huh."

"Of course. Every fan photo deserves my best."

So this was what being a pro meant…? Stardom wasn't for just anyone.

Honestly, I'd thought his sour face would be funny, but that plan failed.

"Well, thanks for the photo. I'll use it to brag."

"Sure. Just don't post it anywhere."

"I wasn't planning to. But… is posting not allowed?"

I mean, people posted photos with celebrities all the time online. Was that against the rules?

"No, it's usually fine… but do I really have to spell it out?"

"What do you mean?"

I pressed him with my expression until he sighed and explained.

"If a dating rumor pops up, it's good publicity for me. But for you… not so much."

"Ahh, I see."

So basically—

"Right, because I'm too pretty. That's the problem, huh? Tch…"

"You're driving me crazy. Want to take this to the ring? Do you even box?"

"Haha, just kidding."

The way he clenched his fist made me drop it immediately. Even if it never came to that, I was sure he'd crush me in three seconds—even back when I was a guy.

"Now that the photos are done, shall we get back to recording?"

Finally, the composer—who had just finished his sandwich—stood up from the table.

Right, time to sing again.

I sighed at the thought of going back into the booth, but it was necessary.

The end result would be worth it.

So I went back in and sang for hours until I was finally released.

"Okay, let's stop here."

"Really?"

The composer's signal to wrap up instantly lifted my mood. Was it finally over?

"Yes. Even if your throat is sturdy, overdoing it causes problems."

It already feels like overdoing it, I wanted to say, but held my tongue.

What would be the point?

Exhausted, I stepped out of the booth—

and there was Moon Changsik, still with arms crossed, watching everything.

His dedication impressed me. I'd thought actors just followed scripts, but clearly, they took this kind of research seriously too.

"Didn't you get bored?"

When I asked, he uncrossed his arms and answered,

"No, not at all. I was imagining how I'd act it out."

"Ooh…"

"And thanks to this, I got a lot of ideas. I really appreciate it."

He bowed deeply, genuinely grateful.

"I was just singing."

"The singing was excellent. Honestly, it's part of why I didn't get bored."

"That means a lot. I'll definitely watch your movie when it comes out."

"Shall I give you a ticket to the premiere?"

"I'd love that."

At a premiere, you got to see the movie before it officially screened, right? Considering how serious he was about acting, now I was curious about the film itself.

"Then I'll send it your way when the time comes."

"Thanks."

With that, I packed up my coat and bag.

"Heading out already?"

"Yeah, I've got things to do at home."

After saying goodbye to the composer, I left the studio.

It was already late afternoon. By the time I got home, showered, and had dinner, the timing would be just right.

The weather had cooled, and I enjoyed the crisp air as I walked home.

"You're back?"

Mrs. Jang was in the kitchen, cooking dinner.

Was Dad working late again?

"Where's Dad?"

"Company dinner. He'll eat out."

Ah, a company dinner.

"Lucky him."

"Right?"

Most office workers hated those dinners, but at Mr. Kim's age and rank, I bet they were more fun than a chore.

He got treated rather than doing the treating.

"Well, we can have something good too."

Oho, she sounded confident. Was it meat tonight?

I sniffed—mackerel.

"Mackerel?"

"Yep. And beef seaweed soup."

"That's… kind of plain for all that confidence."

"Want to move out?"

"…I'll go shower."

I wisely backed down and headed toward the bathroom. But then I remembered something.

"Oh, right. Mom, do you know Moon Changsik?"

"The actor? Of course. He's everywhere these days."

Ooh, so she knew.

"Are you a fan?"

"Not exactly. Why?"

Too bad—if she were a fan, this would be an even bigger gift.

I grabbed one of the signed pages from my bag and brought it out to the living room.

"What's that?"

"Moon Changsik's autograph."

"What? Out of nowhere?"

I handed her the paper, with her name and his signature written on it.

She looked both surprised and pleased.

"What, were you at a filming set today?"

"No, I was at a friend's studio and he was there, so I got it."

"Oooh…"

"What's that look?"

"It's just… it makes him feel like a real celebrity."

Real celebrity? Please.

"I'm not one, so don't get the wrong idea. And don't go around bragging, either."

I immediately warned her, worried she might spread weird rumors to the neighborhood association or relatives.

Her disappointment showed plainly.

"Not even a little?"

"Nope."

"Ugh, I just wanted to brag about my daughter."

"Forget bragging. I brought you the autograph, didn't I?"

I'd looked him up properly on the way home—Moon Changsik really was top-tier.

That alone should be more than enough.

"You're right. That's something to be thankful for."

She admitted it and carefully took the autograph to put away in her room.

"What about your dad's?"

"I got one for him too. I'll give it myself."

"He's going to love it."

"Really?"

"Sure, your dad watches movies all the time, doesn't he?"

Ah, that's right. Every weekend, he'd be glued to the sofa watching films or dramas.

If I'd watched with him, maybe I would've recognized Moon Changsik the first time we met.

Anyway, this just earned me some solid rent money.

Thanks, Moon Changsik…!

My opinion of him automatically rose a little.

And speaking of—didn't I still have that photo we took together?

During recording earlier, I'd gotten a text from my manager.

They wanted me to officially announce the release of Heaven-tier Project's second album on stream today.

Not just me—every member was set to make the announcement at the same time.

All this time, when viewers pestered me about when the new songs were coming out, I'd had to take it quietly.

Finally, today, I could lift that weight.

Maybe that's why our group chat hadn't stopped buzzing all day—the hype never cooled down.

Alright, time to toss in some more fuel.

Grinning, I dropped the photo I'd taken with actor Moon Changsik into the group chat.

(Me): (photo)

(Me): Did it come out okay?

(Mahohyun): The fuck is this??

I closed the chat right after seeing Mahohyun's reply.

Time to wash up, eat, and start streaming.

After filling my stomach and rinsing off the fatigue of recording, I slipped into my soundproof booth.

Smoothly setting up the stream, I went live without delay.

[Major Announcement (Real)]

Yo yo

What's the announcement?

Why only now?

What were you doing yesterday??

Continuing Civ today??

It had been two days since my last broadcast.

Technically, this was my second stream since the Miro 24-Hour.

"Good to see you all again."

Yo yo

Why'd you skip yesterday?

What's the announcement? Other members went live too.

"Yesterday? I streamed until morning, so I skipped the evening."

No wonder you went so long, lol

Classic bait-and-switch

Then don't play Civ!!

"I am playing Civ today."

As I said it, I booted up Civilization.

What, did they really think I wouldn't?

Aaaaah!! Anna!! Roa!!

FFS…

Let's gooo lol

Smash that like if you're hyped

Time to conquer the Japs today, huh? lol

[Thanks for the ₩5,000 donation, ㅇㅇ!]

Is Civ really okay today?? No more surprise mom appearances, right? LOL

"Oh."

That reminded me of the last stream…

LOLOLOLOL

Where's Miro's mom tonight??

Something happen??

Haha omg

[Thanks for the ₩10,000 donation, Jang-in-Miro!]

Tell us the story from last time! LOL

"There's not much to tell. I just came out as a streamer."

The fact you hadn't already is the real legend lol

How'd you even hide it??

Shouldn't have gone home if you wanted to hide it

Wow… are we the embarrassing ones now?

Embarrassing? Honestly, yeah—I couldn't exactly say it proudly to my parents.

"Alright, sorry! I was a little embarrassed, okay?"

?????

Now that's controversial lol

This guy, seriously

"I just thought it was too soon to introduce them to all this…."

Wow, pulling that move here?

You've gone full Vtuber now

LMAO

"Anyway, let's continue, shall we?"

Enough chit-chat. Back to the continent of iron, gunpowder, and blood.

I Roaded the save file from yesterday morning, and the now-familiar game map filled the screen.

Nooo!!

Please…

You promised a major announcement…

Did you trick us, Miro??

"The announcement… isn't time yet. First, let's crush Japan."

Priorities.

And so, Civilization went on.

While viewers groaned in despair, I happily waged war against Japan.

Time flew, and before I knew it, it was nearly announcement time.

"Alright, it's time."

FINALLY

So what's the announcement??

I almost fell asleep

…Do they really hate Civ that much?

Plenty of people still enjoyed it.

"Everyone, get up. It's time."

I clapped loudly, as if to wake up anyone dozing, and then closed Civ completely.

[Thanks for the ₩1,000 donation, ㅇㅇ!]

So what's the announcement?

"The announcement? Before I explain, first…."

Opening the file my manager had sent me earlier, I checked the time.

Perfect—right on schedule.

I clicked play.

"Watch closely."

The video filled the screen.

It opened on a starry night sky.

Fireworks burst, marking the start.

Then the background shifted rapidly—

beaches, mountains, schools, roadside paths, small shops, convenience stores.

One by one, in a smooth flow, as though moving through someone's perspective in a 2D animation.

After a sweeping tour of the whole town, the view returned to the night sky.

The camera dropped swiftly from above—

ending on a moonlit field with six silhouettes standing tall.

And then the video ended.

"So? What do you think?"

Honestly, I was shocked too.

That kind of quality… for just the intro?

Now I understood the delay.

Even knowing it was only the intro, it had blown me away.

The viewers must've been floored.

????

Damn LOL

Big Miro energy

TheSix! TheSix! TheSix! TheSix!

What's with that insane quality??

Yeah, they should be losing their minds.
