The real nightmare materialized during prep week, when Americus somehow managed to acquire six enormous crates of decorations through mysterious channels that probably involved flirtation and strategic deployment of her most charming smile, three extension ladders borrowed from Yale's maintenance department, and official permission to transform Woolsey Hall's grand interior into what she enthusiastically described as "a sparkling winter wonderland that would make Disney jealous."
Which was how Silver found herself standing in the middle of controlled chaos on a Saturday morning that had started before any reasonable person should be awake.
