Chapter 183 - Morning Aftermath

"Normal felt impossible."

Sunlight streamed through the blinds in harsh lines, hitting Silver directly in the face. She squeezed her eyes shut tighter, trying to hold onto the last threads of sleep, but consciousness was already creeping in along with a crick in her neck and warmth along her left side.

Memory returned in pieces. The movie. Eli's shoulder. The steady rise and fall of his breathing. Falling asleep on him like some exhausted freshman after her first college party.

Her eyes snapped open.

The futon was empty beside her. A Yale Hockey blanket she definitely didn't own was tucked carefully around her shoulders. The laptop sat closed on the coffee table, and her phone showed 8:14 AM. The room smelled faintly of coffee, which made no sense because her roommate only drank tea.
