Chapter 188 - Silver's Vow

"Belief felt contagious."

The words stayed with her through the weekend. I believe in you. Four words that shouldn't have mattered so much, but Silver found herself replaying them as she sat at her desk Sunday morning, staring at the Yale Daily News interview questions Americus had forwarded.

Outside, New Haven was waking up slowly. The bells from Battell Chapel rang eight times, their echo carrying across Old Campus. Her roommate was still asleep, buried under covers, recovering from whatever Saturday night had brought. The radiator clanked its familiar rhythm, and Silver pulled Eli's blanket tighter around her shoulders.

She opened a new document on her laptop. Not for the interview, not yet. This was for her.

Things That Are True:1. My knee will never be the same2. I may never land a triple axel again3. Skating might always hurt4. None of that means I'm done

She stared at the list, then added one more line:

5. Someone believes in me. Maybe I should too.
