Chapter 32 - The Underground

Elijah's POV

The tunnel stretched before us like a throat swallowing us whole, and I could feel my heart pounding as we moved deeper into the darkness beneath the mansion.

Marcus led the way with a flashlight he had grabbed from the basement, while Mom crawled behind him with Amara helping to support her weakened body.

I pushed Dad's wheelchair through the narrow passage, struggling to navigate around rocks and debris that had fallen from the ceiling over the years.

"How much time do we have left?" Amara asked, her voice echoing off the stone walls that pressed in around us from all sides.

"Maybe twelve minutes before the house explodes," Marcus said without turning around. "We need to move faster."

But moving faster seemed impossible when the tunnel kept splitting into different directions, and we had no idea which path would lead us to safety.
