Chapter 7 - Bad Coincidence

As she slipped away through his doors and continued her brisk steps, she felt the force of his gaze drawing her back. She was wrapping her arms around her shoulders, not knowing if she was feeling cold, or hot. When she reached home, Morgan was already there. Her legs were crossed on a stool as she bit down on an apple while scrolling through her phone. She didn't even know when she did reach, her mind filled with the ecstasy she was still feeling and everything Michael just did to her.

"Meg? Where did you go? I was looking for you. I dialed your number but it wasn't connecting." Mo said as she carelessly munched her apple. Only if she knew what her, Megan Adams, just experienced. Her hands felt the pocket of her jeans. Right, and silly. She had put her phone on airplane mode and yet forgotten it on her headrest before heading out.

But what if something bad had happened to her at Michael's place and she needed her phone immediately? What if he made advances of hurting her or rapi ... She shook off the horrendous thought. Silly.

"What's wrong, are you alright?"

That was when she realized that she had just been standing before her twin, silent and still having her arms round her shoulders. She shrugged and quickly faked a smile.

"I'm cool, just went for a walk since... I couldn't find Nanny, nor sleep," She breathed out, as if her own words were choking her. Her heartbeat wasn't helping her. It was just mad, throbbing as though her heart was going to jump out of her chest while she still stood. Her legs were becoming wobbly. "And I left my phone behind, on DND."

"Hmm," Mo hummed, turning her gaze back to her phone. "Nanny is sure to be at company now, perusing over how things went. She even texted that I should come over for a particular designing, but I'm just so tired. I might go later."

Meg went over and settled down already in a sofa nearest to her, allowing herself to sink into it's softness before her legs give way. She wasn't even sure she heard anything her twin just said. But she simply smiled and nodded. Hmm.

"I just spoke with Rich," she began again, seeming unbothered. "He should be back to school tomorrow."

This time around, Meg wasn't in the same space with her anymore. She didn't know she already zoned out, not even nodding nor humming to what Mo just said, like as if she was talking to herself.

"Megan?!"

This brought her back to earth. She slightly jumped as she stared back at her sister, then releasing a deep sigh.

"Where have your mind drifted off to? Tell me because you've been acting strange since you came back from your...walk." She said the last word sarcastically. "What's the problem?"

Meg seeing the look in her questioning eyes knew she was now serious and not smiling. She had stopped everything she was doing and was just staring for her answers. She couldn't believe she let herself fall into the hole of 'explaining herself ' to inquisitive Morgan. Where do she even start? Where she pretended to be her seeing Michael's nakedness? Or where she flirted with him?

"I'm fine. It's just that...my head, it's seriously pounding Mo." She finally said as she relaxed herself in the sofa, heaving and holding her head. She wasn't ready in telling Mo anything and then meeting her exclaims and whoops and loquaciousness. Mo stared still, as if she was not buying the lie.

"And you haven't taken your medications?"

"I have. I took them immediately I came back. But I haven't slept, which I think is what I need now." Meg said, standing up now to head up to her room. If luck should please let her win before being called back and questioned again carefully by this 'Lawyer'. And she won.

"Okay, please have enough rest. I don't want you falling ill again else I'll have to smack you." She joked as she went back to her phone, and Meg smiled in relief.

"Yes ma'am. Your food is in the kitchen. Nanny made stew before leaving." She said and earned a soft hum and a nod, before finally going up her room. Once behind her shut doors, she fell with a heavy thud on her large comfy bed and shut her eyes. Tightly. And every play became vivid again.

----

In the evening, Rose did come over. Emily who was with Mo during their session in school already went home. She said she had an appointment with her doctor.

"Is she alright?"

"Maybe," Mo replied. "She should please be, and I didn't notice any sign of her being sick."

"Or maybe... maybe she's pregnant. You know, many admirers."

Mo glared at her in disbelief. "Meg! Silly girl, don't say that. I know Emily is not stupid to get pregnant. Urrgh, your thoughts are always..."

Meg giggled. That was when the doorbell jingled.

"Rose!" Mo welcomed her with a hug.

"How're you guys? Meg? How're you feeling now?" She asked with concern as she sat beside her on the sofa. Meg smiled and drew her cheek playfully.

"I'm feeling good now... Nanny," she teased. The girls laughed.

"What? Nanny?"

"Everyday...'Meg how're you feeling? Are sure you're alright? Are you feeling hot? Are you feeling cold? Is your head hurting...' Urrgh, even at midnight when I'll be soundly sleeping, her call will wake me up because she'll not stop calling until I've picked. Sweetheart, you should really leave that accountant career and go pursue a degree in 'Baby sitting.' "

"Oh my God!" Mo gasped admist laughs. Rose couldn't hold hers either. "You're crazy Meg. You really are. I guess you're finally okay to taunt me like this. I remember when you couldn't even hold a spoon, silly."

"Yeah well, for now I'm really okay. I was not until I just had my nap," She chuckled, then remembered. "Have you seen the project rooster?"

"I think it was shared in the group few hours ago but I haven't checked. Should we see now?" Rose asked as she already brought out her phone and was scrolling.

"Seriously? That lecturer wasn't joking?" Mo said as she laughed. " Meg told me."

She went upstairs first in search of her phone and wondered why her phone refuse to be near her. Finally, it was under her pillow.

"Oh my God!" Meg heard Rose scream and began rushing down immediately. "Like seriously? Was Diana drunk?" She asked no one as she stared at her screen like though she was staring at an alien. Diana was the project leader.

"What's the problem?" Meg asked curiously while her eyes searched her own name on the screen. Mo came closer and peered into Rose's phone to see the problem.

"I'm in the same group with Kingsley. Why? Why would Diana do this to me?!"

"Kingsley? Your ex?!" Meg exclaimed as she let out a laugh. Why haven't I seen mine?

"Not actually her 'ex' since you guys weren't really dating. Davis is your only Ex." Mo reminded as she rolled her eyes. Rose scowled at the mention of the name.

"True. But we did go on numerous dates and did...things. Till I saw him flirting with that naughty Louisa. Such an Oaf. Why would I be punished like this?"

"Your fate. Maybe fate really wants you guys to be together again...you know start afresh..." Mo was saying when Rose tore her a murderous gaze. "I'm joking... joking." She laughed with her palms up.

Then they saw Meg slump on the sofa as she blinked continuously. God, no.

"Meg? What's wrong? Have you seen yours?" Mo asked as she came to her and grabbed her phone which she was just staring at in shock.

"Ruth Taynes...Williams Good...Lily White more...Evans Scott," Mo was reading out, then she suddenly halted and peered closely. "Oh... goodness... Michael DeLaney," Then she gazed at her sister. "Is it the same Michael I know?"

"Wow...wow," Rose exclaimed as she couldn't hold her laugh. "Guess I'm not the only one avoiding someone."

"Michael is in Roosevelt?! Why didn't you tell me?"

"I forgot. Now I believe that Diana is crazy." Meg sighed as she threw her back on the sofa and shut her eyes.

"Well...I don't think it's the girl's fault. She doesn't know anything about your personal stuffs so I think this is mere coincidence. Besides...I don't see anything wrong with being in the same group with our hottie and... your boyfriend." Mo teased with a giggle, earning a hard look from Meg.

"Ohh, there remains one person?"

"Who?"

Mo peered closely. "James Garfield."

Now, this is really bad. A bad coincidence.
