Chapter 101 - Ch.101

Yes, there on Javier's living room sofa, sat the monster girl, her hair disheveled and quietly seated. The coffee table was covered with various plastic snack bags, and the television was loudly playing, the screen flickering as the monster girl stared intently, seemingly very curious. She was wearing only a simple, crooked slip dress. It was also worth noting that the monster girl's skin was horrifyingly pale and bloodless, and her visible veins were completely black.

This monster girl was indeed Lisa Trevor.

This bizarre scene was exactly like the opening of a Japanese comedy, for who would keep a beautiful girl—ahem, a female monster—hidden at home?

To explain the situation, the story must go back decades.

Since returning from the Mansion incident, the homeless Lisa did not stay in the thick forests of the Arklay Mountains. Lisa hated that place; it held too many painful memories for her. So, after some thought, Lisa took her mother's remains and followed Javier's scent all the way to Raccoon City.

Fortunately, Lisa was smart enough. The monster girl infiltrated Raccoon City without causing too much panic and was very good at hiding her tracks. Javier was initially terrified when Lisa suddenly appeared in his home, but he was relieved to find her much more intelligent than he expected.

She neither cried nor caused trouble. Furthermore, under Javier's command, she wouldn't run away. Javier had initially planned to have her live in the basement to avoid unnecessary trouble, but since Lisa behaved, Javier dismissed the idea.

What gave Javier the most peace of mind was her diet. As a half-human, half-monster, Javier initially thought the young woman would need fresh blood or human flesh, but Lisa strongly resisted such food. Perhaps this was due to her desire not to be fully assimilated. The G-Virus in Lisa's body was incredibly resilient, so even without much food, she could sustain herself for a long time on standby.

Therefore, Lisa could consume and metabolize human food. This was the most comforting point for Javier. If Lisa had genuinely required fresh blood or humans to satisfy her hunger, then no matter how tragic her history, Javier would not have taken the monster girl in. Javier couldn't abandon his human moral bottom line to help a monster eat people.

"…"

"Aunt Lisa, it's time to eat. Stop watching TV; too much of it is bad for your eyes. There's a bookshelf nearby; you should read some books. You lived in a daze for thirty years, as if from another era. Don't forget everything now that you're out."

"At the very least… you need to speak fluently, know basic common sense, and not be technologically illiterate! Oh, and you need to know elementary school arithmetic like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division!"

Entering the door, Javier looked at Lisa, who was as unkempt and slovenly as a shut-in who hadn't showered in weeks, and his expression was one of exasperation. He walked forward, took the remote, and turned off the TV. He then tossed the KFC children's meal he'd just bought to Lisa and began his solemn lecture.

Unfortunately, the advice was pointless.

"Hiss…!!!"

Instead, the monster girl Lisa bared her teeth and snarled, emitting a terrifying hiss. Her hair bristled, and the parasitic tentacles on her back instantly sprouted, wildly flailing at Javier. She clearly looked furious and aggressive.

But unfortunately for her, Javier was entirely immune to this display of menace. She was like a stray cat—fierce and threatening, but with no real intention of harming Javier. After weeks of cohabitation, Javier had faced this display at least seventy or eighty times and was completely unfazed.

Lisa was still dissatisfied with Javier's words. The term "Aunt Lisa" was the most offensive thing she had ever heard. Yet, after careful investigation, Javier had learned that Lisa had suffered for a full thirty-one years in the mansion. As tragic as it was, it meant that her current age was her teenage years plus three decades.

Good heavens.

At that age, she was old enough to be Javier's mother. Teasing her by calling her "Auntie" wasn't far from the truth. Javier had initially thought she was still young, but realized he had been rash.

Therefore, Lisa was extremely upset. However, for those thirty-one years she suffered in the mansion, she was in a stupor and had very few memories. Thus, Lisa didn't feel like she was in her forties. She still believed her psychological age was that of a teenager and hated being mocked as an "Auntie" by that scoundrel Javier.

What made Javier want to laugh even more was that the monster girl Lisa refused to acknowledge she was an aunt but also refused to admit she was a child. She completely ignored the children's meal Javier tossed her and immediately started gnawing on Javier's adult meal.

"…"

"It's really like raising a troublesome pet…" Javier shook his head helplessly, watching Lisa busy herself destroying the KFC burger and chicken legs. To be honest, it was unexpected. Javier himself didn't know why he took Lisa in. Perhaps there was a bit of selfishness; Javier wanted to utilize Lisa's power.

After all, Lisa was effectively immune to various bio-viruses and immortal—a true toxin container, and she even carried the original strain of the G-Virus. What's more incredible was that Lisa still retained her intelligence. This made her far superior to any so-called Tyrant. Having such an overwhelmingly powerful bodyguard made Javier much more secure. She was an unkillable, powerful thug!

The other reason was the danger posed by Lisa. The fact that Lisa, the true host of the G-Virus, had entered Raccoon City meant that if she wasn't contained, she could potentially infect a large portion of the population. They would no longer be facing T-Virus zombies, but a city full of G-Virus-enhanced monsters. Escaping Raccoon City would instantly switch from Hard Mode to Nightmare Mode, where G-Virus monsters were everywhere. Therefore, to prevent his instance from mutating, Javier had no choice but to reluctantly take in the monster girl Lisa…

In another apartment, a cold-tempered woman stood in front of her bathroom sink, quietly examining her reflection. Weeks of soft imprisonment had pushed Jill Valentine to the brink of collapse. Though her beauty remained, her face was haggard. The unpleasant memories from the mansion caused her daily nightmares; she suffered from insomnia, anxiety, and paranoia.

She was smart and trusted her intuition. Umbrella's crimes had not only been covered up by the "old fat pig" Chief Brian Irons, but they, the S.T.A.R.S. team, had been placed under soft imprisonment and surveillance. Jill's sixth sense told her that Umbrella would soon try to assassinate them.

"No, I must escape here. I can't stay any longer…"

"My situation is the most difficult in the whole of Raccoon City. Chris and Captain Enrico are missing, likely having escaped. Rebecca was invited to leave by the S.T.A.R.S. branch. Barry has gone to rescue his wife and daughter. Now, it's just Javier, that coward Irons, and myself left in the city."

"Irons is unreliable. I must find a way to contact Javier. I don't know what that bastard has been up to these past few weeks!"

Jill quickly splashed her face with cold water to clear her head, then rushed to her desk to rummage through a pile of files. She quickly found Javier's contact number. She planned to call him to discuss countermeasures and act together. After all, in the entire city, the only person Jill could trust unconditionally was Javier, with whom she had fought side-by-side.

Unfortunately, Jill was completely unaware that the most obsessive admirer in her history would soon arrive. The intelligent Tyrant developed by Umbrella, the Nemesis T-Type (or "Pursuer"), was about to appear. The Pursuer's objective was naturally to first eliminate all surviving S.T.A.R.S. members in Raccoon City.

The extremely clever Pursuer knew that Javier was tough to handle, so it strategically decided to approach Jill first for a friendly greeting. After all, faced with the choice between a strange jerk and a beautiful young lady, the Pursuer, no matter how foolish it might be, wouldn't choose to play with Javier, would it? What fun is there in two big guys playing together? It's awkward, and they'd be one short for a card game—they'd have to engage in some kind of difficult relationship instead.

Due to all these seemingly logical reasons, Jill was targeted by the Pursuer. What was about to follow would be a maniacal stalker's pursuit of his female idol.

Meanwhile, in another scene—

At the Underground G-Virus Laboratory in Raccoon City, William Birkin's frequent contact with US military high-ranking officials made Umbrella and Spencer extremely anxious. Spencer did not want the biological genius William to betray him, nor did he want him to hand over the G-Virus to others.

William had learned from the lesson of his mentor, Marcus. William was well aware of Spencer's ambition; once he completed his research on the G-Virus, Spencer would forcibly seize the results, just as he had done years ago with his teacher Marcus's research on the T-Virus and the Queen Leech. William, equally fanatical about the virus, would naturally not allow this to happen. He intended to strike first, which is why he contacted the US military officials for protection.

Unfortunately, while William planned to strike first, Spencer also thought of the same idea. To intercept and recover the G-Virus first, Spencer immediately dispatched Umbrella's private security force, the U.S.S.

The U.S.S. is a private armed security force under Umbrella, responsible for protecting facilities with classified biological technology and eliminating personnel who pose a threat to the company when necessary. The organization is large and possesses paramilitary training institutions, with a secret base established on Rockfort Island.

The U.S.S. squads are typically equipped with different types of weapons based on their mission, usually operating in groups of four. To ensure the successful recovery of the G-Virus, Spencer dispatched the U.S.S.'s ace soldier, the man known as "Grim Reaper" Hunk.

Hunk is absolutely the best soldier in the U.S.S., with a mission completion rate as high as over ninety percent. The remaining ten percent is simply a contingency estimate. Hunk essentially completes every mission he undertakes. However, he has one flaw: every teammate who accompanies him on a mission dies, leaving only him to return alive.

This is the true reason why Hunk is called the "Grim Reaper." He is the classic example of "Death moves with me." Any U.S.S. team member who has heard the rumors would not feel lucky to be assigned a mission with Hunk. It is both very unlucky and very lucky: lucky to meet a figure of legendary skill, unlucky because that legend is Death itself.

Thus, while William Birkin was busy packing his things, he was unaware that the classic scene he himself had orchestrated against his mentor Marcus (bringing a large special forces team to kill him and seize his research) was about to be replayed upon him. As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. The wheel of fortune turns again and again, and now it was William's turn for this drama.

At the same time, this incident was the true spark for the Raccoon City biohazard. The dispute between the U.S.S. squad and William led to the destruction of the T-Virus samples during the attempt to recover the G-Virus sample. The T-Virus flowed directly into the city's sewer system, was consumed by rats, contaminated the water source, and then spread to humans. A series of chain reactions led to the outbreak of this disaster.
