The golden halls of the divine realm shimmered around me, their scale vast enough to dwarf mountains. Gods and angels stood in silence as the voice of the supreme deity echoed:
"Ethan Cross. You stand here a hero. Speak your wish, mortal."
I didn't hesitate. My voice carried steady and clear. "My first wish: Aqua and Eris come with me wherever I go. No more separation. No chains binding them to this realm. They will have free reign to accompany me, and free passage to return to the heavenly realm whenever they desire."
Gasps rippled among the gods. Aqua froze, her eyes wide with disbelief. Chris—Eris—looked as if her carefully crafted composure had cracked.
The leader's voice rumbled like thunder. "You ask for two goddesses to walk free among mortals?"
"I don't just ask," I said evenly. "I will it. If my victory over the Demon King has proven anything, it's that balance shifts. Mortals can change fate itself. Grant me this, and know that I will still play by your rules… when I choose."
The chamber was silent long enough that I felt Aqua's hand trembling in mine. Then the voice returned.
"So be it. The goddess Aqua, the goddess Eris—granted mortal freedom, yet retaining divine passage. This is your wish fulfilled."
Aqua burst into tears, clinging to me. "Ethan! You big idiot! You actually did it!"
Chris's voice wavered. "…Thank you. I never thought I'd be free like this."
I smirked. "Stick with me. You'll see a lot more firsts."
Loose Ends in Konosuba
We returned to the Demon Capital with the goddesses at my side. My empire was already stabilizing—Cross Pharmaceuticals had begun integrating with demon markets, and education reforms were spreading faster than wildfire thanks to Crimson Demon mages teaching in schools.
Wolbach draped herself over me shamelessly. "You really are incredible, Ethan. Dangerous, and irresistible. Now what did you wish for, huh?"
Serena leaned in from the other side. "My God, Ethan does not require those false 'Gods'—he can accomplish anything on his own."
Wiz approached more timidly, her voice soft. "Thank you, Ethan… for everything. For saving me, for avenging my old friends. I… I love you."
The Demon Princess Cassandra lingered awkwardly at the edge, silver hair catching the torchlight. I invited her over. "You're part of the group now, Cassandra—get on over here. You're my fiancée now."
I rested a hand on her shoulder. "When I give my word, Princess, I keep it. You'll see your father again—only this time he won't be a tyrant."
Her yellow eyes flickered with trust as she joined me and the rest of the girls at the dinner table.
It was enough.
For the next week, I tied up the last threads: assigning ministers, locking down supply chains, reinforcing the new barrier around the capital, and ensuring that every noble house—human and demon alike—was too intimidated to rebel. My empire was set.
At last, I gathered my party. Aqua, Eris, Darkness, Megumin, Yunyun, Luna, Wiz, Wolbach, Sylvia, Serena, and even Kazuma joined a celebration.
Some time after the celebration, I gathered up my women and told them the truth of my origins, my plans to meet my family, my plans for the future, and the possibilities available to us. After several hours of explaining and comforting the girls, they were finally pacified and even a little excited for the future.
Having them all grab ahold of me, I channeled my power and we reappeared in my mansion. The girls looked around in amazement, checking out the modern mansion I had purchased and the city lights in the distance. After showing them the appliances and explaining how they worked—and giving each of them a phone to play with—I finally went to bed. The next day in my office I was finally alone with my thoughts and started to formulate plans for the future.
I poured a drink, staring over the skyline. "What's next?" I muttered. "What world… what power should I take next?"
I scribbled on a notepad, listing names: Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Marvel, Aladdin…
The last one I underlined. Aladdin. Jafar's lamp. The perfect opportunity. Turning on Disney+, I quickly skimmed until I found the movie I was looking for, and a moment later I disappeared from my office—time freezing around me.
The desert air stung my face, sand whipping through the storm that had swallowed the battlefield. I knew this place well—Agrabah, the world of Aladdin. But I hadn't come here for the magic carpet rides or romantic palace vistas. I came for one thing: Jafar's cursed lamp.
Timing was everything. I watched from the shadows as Aladdin and Jafar battled, the latter transformed into a monstrous serpent, bellowing with rage. Just as the lamp was about to be launched away into the abyss, I stepped forward, Snake Talisman active. The world around me seemed to slow to a crawl, and with one smooth motion I plucked the lamp from midair before it could be hurled any further.
"Sorry, Al," I muttered. "This story belongs to me now."
Flying out into the middle of the desert, I found a secluded spot in an abandoned oasis. Getting comfortable on a chair I plucked from my inventory, I slowly rubbed the lamp with the edge of my shirt.
The Genie Awakens
The lamp trembled in my hands. Red light spilled out, unnatural, violent. From it, a genie unlike Disney's jovial blue giant erupted—Jafar's genie form, twisted and red-skinned, his eyes burning like coals.
"You… mortal…" he hissed, voice laced with venom. "You dare command me?"
"Yeah," I said, twirling the lamp in my hand. "And you're going to grant me three wishes."
His sneer faltered. Bound by the rules of the lamp, even Jafar's genie form had no choice. "Very well," he said slowly. "Choose your words carefully, fool. Power granted by me is not so easily undone."
Wish One: Copy Ability
I didn't hesitate. "First wish: I want the ability to permanently copy the powers and abilities of any character I encounter. Magic, physical talents, divine blessings—it doesn't matter. If they can do it, so can I."
The desert trembled as the genie raised his massive hands. "Ambitious… dangerous… reckless. I like it."
A bolt of crimson lightning speared into my chest. I gasped, feeling something unlock deep within me. A resonance, like an infinite mirror reflecting back endless potential. Copy. Adapt. Evolve.
"Done," the genie growled. "You are now the greatest thief of power in existence. But beware—what you steal may change you."
Wish Two: World-System Adaptation
"Second wish," I said, my voice steady despite the lingering electricity in my veins. "Whenever I enter a new world, I and anyone I bring with me gain the power system of that world, permanently. Wizardry in Harry Potter. Nen in Hunter × Hunter. Chakra in Naruto. Ki in Dragon Ball. Ripple or Stands in JoJo. Whatever system defines that world, it becomes ours with no negative consequences or clashing energies. All powers gained are permanent and will work flawlessly for us, and our natural talent in each system will be at the peak possible in that world."
The genie froze, his jaw dropping. Even for him, this was audacious. "You… would rewrite the laws of every realm you touch?"
"Exactly," I said with a smirk. "No more limits. Every world adds to my arsenal."
He laughed, low and dangerous. "You are mad. But your wish… is granted."
A second surge crashed into me, hotter and heavier than the first. I felt the hum of potential in my blood and flesh, even my soul—all at once. It was like tasting infinity.
Wish Three: World Editing
"Final wish," I said, holding the lamp tighter. "I want the ability to create false identities and origins in any world I visit. Seamless. Believable. Even gods, demons, or reality itself will accept my fabricated past as real combined with the ability to create a false origin I want the ability to slightly alter aspects of the world I do to, for example If I go to Pokémon then I want to edit the ages of the characters or if I go to Highschool DxD I could make Issei always have been a hot woman instead of an annoying pervert."
The genie's eyes widened. "You seek to not only rule worlds… but belong to them. A wolf wearing every skin."
"Exactly. Because what's the point of power if you can't walk through the front door as if you own the place?"
The genie raised his claws. For the third time, crimson light seared into me. My mind filled with whispers, endless identities waiting to be born: a noble bloodline in Westeros, a forgotten champion in Pokémon, a pureblood wizard in Hogwarts. An empty slate of lies—each treated as truth, whenever I wanted.
Aftermath
The power nearly dropped me to my knees, but I stood tall, forcing a grin. Jafar's genie form seethed, smoke rising from his body. "Your wishes… are fulfilled. I should curse you, but I am bound by the power of the lamp. Every world is yours to plunder now."
I snapped my fingers, activating my inventory—a pocket dimension bound to me since my earliest jumps. The lamp shimmered as I willed it away, locked deep into the vault of my possessions.
"Sorry, Jafar," I said. "But you're mine now too."
The genie stared at me in silent defiance for all the lamp would allow him before his form was sucked violently back into the lamp, silenced once more.
Return to Reality
Back in my office—the quiet hum of the mini-fridge, the distant horns of the city—I collapsed into the chair. The lamp now rested safely in my inventory; the weight of three new cosmic powers thrummed in my veins.
For the first time in months, I let silence wash over me. No Aqua screaming for booze, no Darkness begging for punishment, no Megumin chanting explosion. Just me. Alone.
I thought of the worlds ahead:
Pokémon: start fresh as a new trainer with a single starter Pokémon—work my way up from scratch, test my copied powers alongside my growing team, and experience the adventure the way it was meant to begin.
Game of Thrones: maybe a dragonlord with wizardry and a great house on my side.
Harry Potter: rewrite the wizarding world from the inside, perhaps as a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.
Hunter × Hunter: dominate the Hunter Exam with powers no one could dream of.
The Witcher: explore the lands, hunt monsters, and court beautiful sorceresses.
Elder Scrolls: absorb Shouts, Daedric blessings, and more.
Marvel or DC: where gods and mortals blur.
The multiverse wasn't just open to me now. It was mine for the taking.
I leaned back, staring at the ceiling, already plotting. "The real game begins now."
