Flocks of Jin Vulture Surrounded the group sizing they them up like fresh prey, their neck were long and had red veins, their eyes were blood red as they glared at their meal and their beak were as strong as steel they wings were large enough to cover an entire table; these creatures wear widely known as the Jin vultures, they circle their prey and in the sky and quickly attck them using their beaks while others distract them using magical attacks.
Barton quickly drew out his sword as he observed the situation with deadly concentration; his calm demeanor helped him analyse the situation in an instant.
"Merl, get ready to attack the Jin Vultures; the rest of you mages should use magic to strike their wings," Barton yelled as everyone immediately took their position.
"Tristan and his friends were in the center with Barton and Merl by their side.
"Oh light that shines in the heart of men, grant us thy flames as we burn away the evil in our hearts. Cast: Fireball"
The mages yelled as they cast the fire spell in perfect unison while at the same time aiming at the Jin vultures from all corners. The flames burned the wings of the vultures as they fell like rain from the sky; Merl and Barton quickly struck the Jin vultures as they fell.
"Such coordination and precision!" Mimi exclaimed as her respect for the group grew.
"Hm, manageable for mere 3rd graders and fifth graders," Malachi added as he complimented them in his own unique way.
The battle quickly ended as Barton cut down the last Jin Vulture; he violently swung his blade, removing any trace of blood from the Jin Vultures and then sheathed his sword. The group chattered in joy as they began collecting the remnants of the Jin Vultures; they seemed exhausted yet still happy.
"Did you guys watch the battle?" Barton questioned the group as he walked towards them with a smile on his face.
"That was amazing!" Alex exclaimed as he pushed Malachi aside and rushed towards Barton. Tristan and Mimi slowly approached Barton as well, while Malachi glared at Alex like someone plotting petty revenge.
"You guys had amazing coordination, and you barely spoke a word," Tristan said
"True! I was utterly speechless." Mimi added as Malachi finally joined them.
Barton smiled and looked at them with a vague sense of pride; he had never met students like them before.
"Then I guess you guys already have your first assignment," Barton announced to them as he sat down on a nearby rock. He stretched a little as Tristan and his remained puzzled at what he meant.
"Um, sir, what assignment?" Tristan asked as his thoughts were filled with killing monsters.
"As your assigned personal instructor, your first assignment is to exhibit coordination on the level of an elite team," Barton explained; his voice remained soft and calm. Tristan, as well as his friends, remained silent.
Did I overwhelm them with the task?.. I guess they didn't meet my desired expectation—
Barton's thoughts stopped as he saw that same expression he witnessed in the school plastered on their faces; they were grinning almost as if they were trying to say the task was too easy.
"Is that a challenge?" Tristan asked as he grinned Batron with excitement on his face.
"I love to make people who think less of me look like fools…so, teacher, I take your quest as you thinking less of me." Malachi also added as he grinned at Barton.
"I don't actually care what task you give me as long as I get loose." Alex barked enthusiastically as he cracked his fist, while Mimi nodded in agreement with what the rest had said.
"HA HA HA HA, you kids really are different from the rest." Barton praised as he laughed at their audacity.
The other indices who were in the group smiled as they watched the students' determination.
"They really are a weird bunch of kids?" Merl added as he walked towards Barton.
After the entire group had set up camp, it quickly turned dark; they had set up a small campfire with their tents surrounding them.
"Once you guys are finished eating, we'll begin your training," Barton said as he stood up and walked a short distance from the camp. Tristan and his friends soon followed behind Barton as they reached a safe distance from the camp.
"All of you, sit down for a bit; the lesson will now begin." Barton insisted as the group sat in front of him. Everyone except Alex quietly sat down. He tapped his feet; as restlessness took over, he paced around the sand, moving side to side.
Why the hell are we sitting when we could be hunting?
Alex thought as his impatience got the better of him.
"Alex, sit down for a bit; we will soon begin." Barton snapped as he glared at Alex, who quietly took his seat. He grumbled a bit, but he had no choice but to listen.
"Previously, I assigned you guys the task of exhibiting elite-like coordination before the end of this hunt, that is, until we beat the main boss of the gate," Barton said as he steadied himself in a composed manner; it was like he was in a classroom giving lectures to his students. "But that would be impossible for you to achieve right now," Barton added, revealing the harsh truth before the group.
"So what do you suggest we do? I mean, you were the one who gave us such an impossible task." Tristan inquired as he used scracthed the middle of his head, pondering to himself as to what Barton might do. The cold, dry air remained silent as the group waited to here Bartons major plan.
"Fight," Barton stated.
"Fight ?" The group repeated in a confused unison.
"From now till the end of this hunt, you four will fight me to improve your co-ordination." The words that left Barton's mouth echoed in the cold air; the Group Blinked at what Barton had said for a moment. Alex quickly grinned like a child on Christmas Eve; the grip on his sword tightened as excitement took over. He could barley contains his joy as he gawked at Barton in excitement.
