Hollowing 101: A Primer on Morrowglass

Source:Morrowglass refined from the dead (bone-ash → morrow → crystal). Illicit quickglass from the living is unstable, stronger, and a crime.

Mechanic: Ingest or implant a measured grain; etch/speak a vector (gesture, sigil, phrase). The burn yields an effect and scours a lacuna—a hole in memory/affect.

Disciplines & typical costs:

Lumen — light/wards, flares, sigils. Cost: warmth → joy → tenderness.

Kint — force/kinesthetics, shoves/leaps. Cost: fine motor memory → body-map drift.

Echo — memory/illusion, reconstructions. Cost: autobiographical memory (faces/names).

Sepulchre — entropy/decay, locks rot, blood stills. Cost: fear → disgust → remorse.

Bind — oath/coilwork; compulsion woven into words. Cost: self-determinism (small choices → big ones).

Practice rules:

Conservation: effect ≈ grain × purity − waste.

Specificity: vague vectors widen lacunae.

Anchors: tattoos, tokens, rehearsed memory-phrases. Never burn without an anchor.

Failure state:Overhollow ⇒ Wick (conduit; identity gone, light remains).

Safe example:Lumen flare (2 mg, Grade B). Vector: two-stroke wrist sigil + "Burn bright; not me." Expected lacuna: brief flattening of warmth (3–10 minutes).
