Chapter 216 - Chapter 217: Advanced Magic Mathematics

Ring...

The class bell rang, and Kira walked into the classroom, carrying the textbook he had prepared beforehand.

The teaching method at Demisore Academy was similar to a university, but with a slight difference:

Every week, the academy's teachers would discuss their teaching times and set up a course schedule. There were no limits on majors; students were free to learn whatever they wanted, offering a high degree of freedom.

Generally, teachers of the same course would stagger their teaching times so that students wouldn't miss multiple desired courses scheduled simultaneously. If there was genuinely no time, then, well, they were out of luck and had to study on their own afterward.

There were only a handful of mandatory courses, the main two being "Fundamentals of Magic" and "Magical Philosophy." The rest were mostly electives, as every mage's talent is unique, requiring different kinds of magic to be learned.

This was a large, tiered lecture hall. Over a dozen rows of desks were arranged in an arc around the central podium and blackboard, along with a smooth crystal screen embedded in the wall. Other things like crystal light bulbs and magical air conditioning were commonplace in the academy and needed no mention.

Every row in the classroom was full. A rough count showed about 300 people. If the annual enrollment was similar to this year, this represented students from over ten different years—no small number. The age difference among the students was vast; the youngest were only six or seven, while the oldest were even older than Kira.

As Kira observed the students, the students were also observing Kira.

During the seven days he had been exploring Hams City, the news that "The Principal invited three temporary foreign lecturers, one of whom is a genius young mage from the Fairy Tail Magic Guild" had spread throughout the academy. Students who had been at the academy for several years, even over a decade, were eager to meet this "outside genius" and perhaps test their own abilities.

When they found out that Kira was only 20 years old, the veteran students of the academy became even more disgruntled. They were studying at the most famous and oldest magic academy in the Kingdom of Fiore; could they really be inferior to someone from a mere Magic Guild? With this thought in mind, they came to Kira' lecture.

Red hair, blue eyes, young, handsome, black and gold magic robe, and a short blue-purple cloak—that was the students' first impression of Kira.

A boy in the back row commented sourly, "He looks alright, just a bit handsome, nothing special..."

A girl next to him, shyly half-covering her face with a thin, long sleeve, laughed and retorted, "I think being handsome is quite special! I wonder if he used Charm Magic?"

This was clearly a joke; everyone knew he wouldn't use Charm Magic. It was just a way to express how incredibly handsome "Professor Kira" was.

In another corner, an older-looking student asked the people around him, "I heard this mage named Kira is only 20, younger than me. Is he really that strong?"

The answer came from one of the people Kira had rescued from Zoldio: "Yes! He's super powerful! When the academy was attacked, he saved me at the last moment! Those monsters couldn't even be beaten by Teacher XX, but they didn't last three minutes against him!"

He then spent over a minute detailing the circumstances of Kira' rescue, describing it extravagantly. The surrounding people were constantly shocked, hissing and drawing in cold air, causing the classroom temperature to rise sharply.

"Did you all feel the earthquake that day? That was the aftermath of his battle with the enemy leader!" Someone else brought up Kira' glorious deeds. The speaker was animated and proud, making it sound like he was the one who fought the battle.

A young girl eagerly spoke up: "I know about that! I ran into the Principal the day before yesterday, and she personally told me that because Professor Kira fought the enemy near the administrative building and blasted a huge hole, they decided to build a new scenic lake there!"

At this, the faces of the people talking turned pale. Some covered the girl's mouth, while others quickly moved in the opposite direction from her, quietly admonishing her: "Shush! Keep your voice down! Do you want to die?! Who are you calling 'old woman'?"

The young girl realized the mistake. She quickly looked around and, upon confirming that no one had heard her, patted her modest chest with lingering fear, sticking out her tongue in a cute gesture.

Similar scenes were playing out in multiple spots around the classroom. Kira saw and heard everything clearly from the podium but didn't call for silence. He genuinely just wanted to know what the students thought of him.

"Class begins!"

"Good day, Professor!"

'Professor Kira... that sounds nice!' Kira stood on the podium, his expression calm, but feeling delighted internally. 'I never thought this day would come for me. Why didn't I feel this way when I taught the kids at the orphanage?'

"Ahem..." Noticing the eyes focused on him, Kira cleared his throat. He then flashed his naturally handsome smile at the students below and said, "I am Kira Clive, from the Fairy Tail Magic Guild. It is an honor to be invited here to lecture..."

He had already arranged with Coronus days ago to teach one large class per week, lasting two hours. The only requirement was that the course needed to contain some substance, and he could teach whatever he wanted!

Kira spent five minutes giving a simple self-introduction. Then, he spent half the class time detailing his "glorious achievements." These included, but were not limited to, "Defeating the Ice Demon," "Outsmarting the Black Dragon," "Beating the Wizard Saint Jellal," "Winning First Place in the Guild Tournament," "Crafting Tools That Made a Name," and "Writing Famous Novels Spreading Far and Wide." And, of course, the most recent "Preventing the Dark Guild Attack" right here at the academy.

For each point, he would produce physical evidence: several visual Lacrima crystals recording his combat prowess, and a magical newspaper article titled "The Most Successful Novelist in the Kingdom of Fiore in a Decade."

"Amazing! I didn't realize Professor Kira was so incredible!"

"A successful person! This is a truly successful person! We've been living in a frog in a well situation before!"

Kira basked in the students' adoration, waving his hands to quiet them: "Calm down, calm down. These are all basic operations. As the most promising young mage in the Kingdom of Fiore, these are merely my due duties and obligations. You must use me as an example and strive to become contributors to the magic world in the future!"

"Most importantly, I hope you are not praising me merely for my looks and strength. I am just an ordinary mage. What truly deserves praise is the indomitable spirit in the face of adversity, and the great vision to benefit society and the nation!"

The students were immediately filled with awe. Hundreds of eyes sparkled as they looked at Kira, transforming from shallow admirers into devoted fans and followers!

"Everyone must remember your teacher's words. Use your own two hands to build the Kingdom of Fiore, making it prosperous, democratic, civilized, and harmonious. At the same time, uphold the freedom, equality, justice, and rule of law of the magic world. Be a patriotic, dedicated, trustworthy, and friendly mage!!"

Just as he was reveling in his pride, Kira spotted Coronus, who had come to observe. His tone instantly shifted: "Now, let's begin today's teaching content: 'Advanced Magic Mathematics.'"

The subject change was so abrupt that the students below were momentarily stunned.

Using the crystal projection screen on the wall, Kira displayed the first example from his prepared textbook.

"Everyone, look at this problem: There are an unknown number of Shadow Rabbits and Crimson Flame Chickens kept together. They have a total of 120 heads and 366 legs. How many Shadow Rabbits and Crimson Flame Chickens are there, respectively?"
