Chapter 78: The Eighth Seal — Did He Just Offend a Dragon?
The moment that drop of blood fell into the Thousand Refined bath, even Ye Ling felt an overwhelming surge of power erupting within.
It soared upward, turbulent and vast, filling the air with a majestic, untamed might.
Within Ye Ling's body, the Golden Dragon King bloodline instantly reacted to the presence of that drop of blood, boiling violently on its own.
In an instant, the entire bathhouse was filled with rising steam.
Inside, Ye Ling, who had been focusing on breaking through the sixth seal, suddenly sensed something amiss.
Before him, the colossal golden dragon that symbolized his bloodline began to tremble. Its aura leaked uncontrollably, and the once-solid sixth seal suddenly grew unstable.
A moment later, it shattered completely.
Ye Ling froze in astonishment.
"What is happening?"
"Why has the Golden Dragon King bloodline become like this?"
Confusion flickered across his mind.
But when he sensed the peculiar, surging energy entering his body through the medicinal liquid, he understood.
It was blood—blood that carried an immense elemental force.
Yes, it was the blood of the Silver Dragon King, Gu Yue Na.
Realizing this, Ye Ling couldn't help but feel shocked.
"I didn't expect her to do something like this… I wonder if it was pure Silver Dragon instinct, or if she acted out of her own will," he murmured softly.
"Still, it doesn't matter. The result is already set. I might as well make the most of it. I was only planning to break through the sixth seal, but at this rate, the seventh is certain to fall—and maybe even the eighth."
Ye Ling muttered quietly to himself.
Previously, he had assumed the Golden Dragon King seals would take him ages to break—painfully slow, perhaps not even completed by the time the Demon Hunt Squad began its missions.
Yet now, the pace was astonishing.
In such a short span, he had already reached the seventh seal, and even the eighth seemed within reach.
Marvelous. Truly marvelous.
Perfectly stable and flowing.
With that thought, Ye Ling steadied his spirit and charged forward with full force toward the seventh seal.
Moments later, the seventh seal shattered under his momentum.
Without pause, Ye Ling continued channeling that power, rushing toward the eighth seal at incredible speed.
Faster than thunder, faster than thought—his breakthrough surged forward unstoppably.
By now, all of his inner reserves and the medicinal energy from the treasures had been completely consumed. Continuing any further would risk overexertion.
It was better to stop and stabilize.
Gradually, his consciousness began to return.
Yes—this time, thanks to Gu Yue Na's power, he had not entered a berserk state. His body remained unharmed.
When he opened his eyes, he saw the Silver Dragon King herself, Gu Yue Na, lying weakly atop his head.
That drop of blood earlier must have been her essence blood.
No wonder she looked so frail now—resting limply on Ye Ling's head, listless and weary, uninterested in anything around her.
Thinking of this, Ye Ling reached out and gently caught her. For some reason—driven by an impulse he couldn't quite explain—he leaned forward and placed a light kiss on the Silver Dragon's head.
That single action immediately awakened Gu Yue Na. Startled by Ye Ling's sudden behavior, she flapped her wings in panic, broke free from his grasp, and fell straight into the water.
As the droplets splashed around and she looked up, her wide, watery eyes froze on Ye Ling's figure—his bare form glistening beneath the mist. The Silver Dragon King blinked in shock, her mind briefly blank, unsure of what to say or do.
A split second later, realization struck. Her face flushed crimson as she let out a startled cry.
Flapping her damp, silvery wings furiously, she bolted toward the exit and vanished in an instant through a spatial rift—gone without a trace.
Ye Ling was left standing there, completely dumbfounded.
"…So, did I just get harassed by a dragon, or did I harass a dragon?" he muttered, genuinely uncertain which it was. There was, unfortunately, no one to answer that question.
Helplessly, he got to his feet, releasing a wave of warmth to dry his body before dressing himself. Then, focusing inward, he channeled the Golden Dragon King bloodline within him.
A flash of dazzling golden light filled the room—
—and in the next moment, a magnificent golden spear appeared in his hands.
This was the weapon that could devour all things.
The Golden Dragon Spear.
A divine artifact of the highest order, forged from one of the Golden Dragon King's severed ribs. Its edge was unimaginably sharp, capable of consuming any form of energy—whether life force or destructive power—and converting it into its wielder's strength.
Its might was beyond measure.
This was one of the artifacts Ye Ling had long desired to obtain. According to the legacy of the Golden Dragon King, it could only be gained after breaking through the sixth seal—and that was precisely why Ye Ling had aimed for this breakthrough.
"Perhaps I should go out soon and test the power of this Golden Dragon Spear," Ye Ling murmured thoughtfully. "If I can also find a way to unlock the remaining half of the Golden Dragon King's bloodline, that would make things complete."
Musing aloud, he subconsciously gripped the weapon, turning its gleaming tip toward himself. Then, out of curiosity, he lightly jabbed it against his arm.
He only wanted to see if it could wound him.
Yet, at that instant, Ye Ling felt something strange—the spear that should have been indestructible suddenly softened in his hand. When its point touched him, it felt like a gentle puff of cotton candy, utterly harmless.
"The divine weapon won't harm its master… At least, the Golden Dragon Spear won't strike back against one who bears the Golden Dragon King's bloodline."
Ye Ling murmured in quiet understanding.
He had intended to test it further, but since it posed no danger, there was no need.
So be it.
Putting the matter aside, he dressed and pushed open the bathhouse door.
The moment he stepped outside, he saw the Silver Dragon King awaken. Her silver face carried a faint blush—clearly, she remembered what had just happened.
Perhaps it was instinct, or maybe the keen sensitivity of a divine beast—but she clearly understood.
Still, she didn't flee this time. Instead, she fluttered toward him again, but ignored his gaze, flying straight to perch atop his head.
Curling up there comfortably, she soon fell asleep again—just as before.
It seemed his head possessed an inexplicable allure to her. No matter where they were, she always insisted on resting there, unmoving, as if that spot alone brought her peace.
It was absurd—yet strangely endearing.
Maybe she simply wanted to stay close to him, or maybe it was just part of her nature. Either way, it was an explanation Ye Ling could accept.
"What a tsundere little dragon," he said with a quiet chuckle, reaching up to gently stroke her small silver head. Feeling her squirm shyly, he smiled faintly and said no more.
Then, lying back on his bed, Ye Ling finally allowed himself to rest.
It had been far too long since he'd slept properly—and at that moment, he realized how much he had missed it.
