Chapter 83: Devouring and Recovery, Using the Power of Bloodline!
"Take this. It can record the levels of the demons you kill."
"You can fight for one day—after that, we rest and recover. Once the day is over, we'll compare who killed more demons. The one with the higher count wins. Do you dare?"
Facing Ye Ling, Wang Yuanyuan spoke seriously.
She had been fighting demons on the battlefield for many years and knew her craft well.
To compete against Ye Ling, who had barely slain any demons before, hardly seemed like a fair contest in her eyes.
She was confident—this would be a one-sided slaughter.
"Alright." Ye Ling accepted the recording device, weighing it in his hand. He quickly sensed its origin—it was crafted with demonic essence and of refined quality.
"These should be the merit counters used by the Demon Hunters. I didn't expect Wang Yuanyuan to actually borrow such things. Ruthless of her," he thought.
"And she even brought more than one."
Indeed, Wang Yuanyuan had anticipated that Cai'er would join them, so she had prepared extra. After equipping them both, she led the two toward another area.
There stood a man clad in crimson armor, his face coarse and fierce, clearly not one to be trifled with.
Wang Yuanyuan didn't waste words and approached directly.
"Palace Lord Ren Wokuang, I request permission to descend to the lower battlefield to fight the demons."
Ren Wokuang paused, surprised for a moment. But upon recognizing her, his expression softened.
"Yuanyuan, huh? You can go—but be careful. The demon horde is restless. Don't be fooled by the weaker ones appearing now. No one knows when a powerful fiend might emerge."
He spoke with concern.
Wang Yuanyuan's grandfather had been the former Lord of the Warrior Temple, an old friend of Ren Wokuang. He had watched Wang Yuanyuan grow up, and thus still held affection for her.
"I understand," Wang Yuanyuan nodded.
With the approval granted, she turned and led Ye Ling and Cai'er down the city wall.
Beyond the city lay demon territory—a stark contrast to the human lands inside. Though only a hundred meters apart, the difference was like heaven and hell.
The demon lands were barren and desolate, overrun with twisted weeds and devoid of life, giving off an eerie, unsettling aura.
As the three descended, countless dual-blade demons turned their bloodthirsty gazes toward them, crimson light flickering in their eyes.
Moments later, hordes of them charged forward, swinging their twin blades in vicious arcs.
The sight alone could unsettle an ordinary heart.
But to Ye Ling and Cai'er, it was nothing remarkable.
They were no sheltered flowers. For them, killing demons had long become routine.
"Cai'er, Wang Yuanyuan and I are competing—want to join in?"
"Let's see if you can outmatch me." Ye Ling turned to her with a teasing grin.
"Alright, but if I win, you have to grant me one request," Cai'er said earnestly.
"Deal. If you can win, I'll agree to one condition," Ye Ling replied easily. He wasn't worried; he knew Cai'er wouldn't ask for anything unreasonable.
"Thank you, Brother Ye Ling." Cai'er's eyes lit up with delight. Then, without hesitation, the spirit armor upon her body activated. Radiant energy surged as her aura erupted outward, drawing startled gazes from nearby warriors—each looking at her as though she were a monster.
They weren't wrong.
In that instant, her power was nearly at the Sixth Rank—an extraordinary display of strength.
Even Wang Yuanyuan was dumbfounded.
Good heavens—so fast!
But she didn't linger in shock. Her own energy flared immediately as she summoned her Great Spirit Shield, then charged forward like a madwoman straight toward the demonic horde.
Her speed was astonishing.
She intended to seize the initiative, to outpace Ye Ling and Cai'er from the very start.
That was her goal.
And she had already prepared her strategy in advance.
All that was left—was to put it into action.
With that thought, she dashed toward the demons.
Chapter Eighty-Three: Devouring and Recovery, Using the Power of Bloodline!
The speed was extremely fast.
Strength surged dramatically, vast and boundless.
On close feel, that strength surpassed the combined current power of Li Xin and Long Haochen; the total spirit power reached at least one thousand three hundred points.
Perhaps this progress was not terrifying to Ye Ling, but if word spread outside, it would astonish many.
Ye Ling, however, had few thoughts and watched them calmly, neither rushed nor flustered.
Then a golden radiance flickered across his body, and a long spear materialized in his hand, gleaming like gold and appearing immensely formidable.
"I've used the sword long enough; now I'll give the spear a try," he murmured.
"Let me see whether the king of a hundred weapons can truly shine in my hands."
Without hesitation, Ye Ling gripped the Golden Dragon Spear and charged toward the countless demons.
Seeing this, Gu yuena, who had been dozing above Ye Ling, opened her eyes curiously and looked toward him, seemingly eager to see what ability or maneuver he would display next.
Ye Ling did not hesitate. He lunged at the nearest dual-blade demon; though his thrust did not strike a vital point, the Golden Dragon Spear's terrifying devouring ability erupted at that instant.
In a flash, that dual-blade demon's life force and vitality were utterly dissipated into nothingness.
All its life energy and power were absorbed into the Golden Dragon Spear, a portion of the most refined energy feeding back into Ye Ling's body.
But it was pitifully little.
"Although there is indeed an increase, that so-called rise is less than one percent of a drop of spirit power and cannot even fully condense into spirit power. It seems I must try waiting—after killing one hundred, maybe there will be hope." Ye Ling muttered.
He had found both a target and a method of improvement.
That method was killing—wild, relentless killing.
Kill one hundred demons to raise spirit power by one point? And in extremely refined liquid form? What a stroke of luck.
With that thought, Ye Ling began his slaughter.
Half an hour passed.
Ye Ling had had enough.
One hundred dual-blade demons lay dead by his hand.
His spirit power had increased by one full point.
Moreover, it had completely coalesced, matching the level of the spirit power he had cultivated himself—essentially at the same tier.
The Golden Dragon Spear's filtering ability was exceedingly strong.
"Truly worthy of the Golden Dragon Spear, truly worthy of the Golden Dragon King bloodline," Ye Ling thought with a smile.
His gaze sharpened as he looked toward the hordes of demons and plunged back into them.
At that moment, he also immediately activated the latter nine-tier Golden Dragon King seals he had obtained from the system, integrating them into his body.
Battle had always been the best time for the Golden Dragon King bloodline to fuse and grow.
