So she began to tell about the Demonic bloodline. Her voice was low at first, like she was whispering something forbidden, but inside it was heavy with pride and anger.
She said demons were not like humans. Humans looked at each other's faces, they remembered voices, they clung to names. But demons never needed that.
For demons it was the blood. Blood could smell blood. Blood could feel blood. Strong blood pressed down on weak blood, weak blood made their head bow without even knowing why.
All demons carried the blood of Xie Mo, the first ancestor. His blood was the source, and from it many branches were born.
The Hei Ya – Shadow Fang, demons of the dark.
The Chi Yan – Crimson Flame, who burned with fire that devoured both flesh and soul.
The Bing Mai – Frost Vein, cold as ice, merciless enough to freeze rivers and mountains.
The Gu Rou – Bone Devourers, who grew stronger by feasting on the flesh of beasts.
And above them all, the bloodline of Xuan Luo – Abyssal Crown, the purest blood of Xie Mo himself. That blood was said to rule, for no other could resist it, no demon could ignore it.
But her voice sank lower, as if she was whispering something forbidden.
There were whispers of those older than Xie Mo Bloodline. Not his children, not his blood.
They were said to have been made directly by the god Cang Ming, shaped from his divine will instead of mortal body. These beings were called the Gu Dai Zhi Zun – Ancient Supremes. Even Xie Mo, the first ancestor, had once bowed before them.
No one had seen them for countless ages. No one knew if they had died, or if they slept somewhere deep in the void, or if Mu Yao had banished them far away.
Their story lingered only in broken words, passed from mouth to mouth, fading a little more with each generation.
But still the warning remained—if the Ancient Supremes returned, even the Abyssal Crown, goddess Mu Yao would tremble.
Liu Yang's eyelids started to droop, his jaw stretching wide as he barely held back a yawn.
His lips twitched, his head nodding once before he forced it straight. "Hei Ya… Chi Yan… Bing-whatever… Gu Rou… Xuan Luo… Gu Dai something something…"
His thoughts scrambled like noodles spilling from a bowl. He knew he wouldn't remember half of this in five minutes, but he just nodded slow, like he understood everything. "Yeah, yeah, great, cool lore dump. Please don't ask me to repeat it."
But then a thought crawled into his mind, sharp enough to cut through his boredom.
"Wait… what bloodline am I?"
His eyes narrowed, his lips moving as he mumbled under his breath. "Xie… Mo… something… Xuan… Luo…"
He scratched the back of his head, thinking hard, trying to match what she said with himself. Shadow hunters? No. Fire demons? Nope. Ice veins? Not him. Bone eaters? Disgusting. Abyssal Crown?
He frowned deeper. "Wait… wait a sec… my System doesn't match any of these bloodlines."
His heart jumped, his face froze. "What the fuck… don't tell me… am I some hybrid mess?"
His jaw dropped wider, his hands clutching his head. "Or worse… do I even identify as demon?!"
His lips curled in despair. "Oh God, oh Goddess, oh whoever is listening—don't tell me I got isekai'd into a race I don't even qualify for. What am I supposed to do, check a box? Male, female, demon, human, or… 'other, please specify.'"
"Help: System, which bloodline I belong to?" Liu Yang asked inside his head, his lips pressed in a shaky smile, nodding slow in front of her like he was agreeing with every word. But inside his skull, his mind was screaming.
The System screen flickered.
[Help command is only for System functions, not for finding your lost daddy issues.]
Liu Yang's face froze. His lips twitched. Daddy issues?!
The System screen blinked again.
[Host's identity crisis cannot be solved with a command. Please consult your local therapist.]
His jaw dropped. He slapped his forehead, covering half his face with his palm. "What the hell, I don't need a therapist, I need a bloodline!"
The System didn't stop.
[Hint: If you don't know your own bloodline, maybe you're "Other — please specify."]
Liu Yang almost screamed, but before he could, he noticed her eyes.
She was staring at him, her face soft, her lips trembling like she had seen something deep in him. Her eyes glowed faint, filled with respect.
"Master…" she whispered, her voice trembling. "So much pain… I can see it in your eyes. The humans… they hurt you so bad you can't even speak of what they did to us. Your silence… it's deep, like a well with no bottom, like a cliff that has no end."
Liu Yang's head jerked. His mouth opened, but no words came. Wait… what?
Her eyes shone brighter. She bowed her head lower, voice almost crying. "To carry such pain… and still smile… Master, you are strong. So strong."
Liu Yang's body stiffened. Then he nodded fast, his lips stretching into an awkward grin. "Y-yeah… yes… strong… that's me."
Inside his head, though, he was screaming. "What the fuck is happening right now?!"
