Chapter 55 - Chapter 55: May This Dream Never Fade

Mirajane's head swayed gently to the rhythm of her song. As she sang, the heavy gloom that had weighed on her heart for so long seemed to drift away with the melody.

Today was the happiest, most carefree day she'd had since the curse began.

No vicious insults, no fearful stares. She had gained the power to protect her family, and now she was camping under a dreamy starry sky with her beloved siblings and trustworthy new companions.

They savored delicious food and gazed at breathtaking scenery.

Everything felt as beautiful as a dream.

If only… this dream could last forever…

Her singing grew softer, more relaxed, filled with joy and a tender hope for the future.

Anyone listening could hear the peace and happiness in her heart at that moment.

Then, something magical happened.

Countless tiny green specks of light began to drift up from the grass, the bushes, and even the deep woods by the lake.

Like spirits drawn to her song, they danced silently in the night air, casting a dreamy pale-green glow over the surroundings and the lake's surface.

A single tiny green light floated down, landing on the tip of Lisanna's nose. Her eyes crossed as she held her breath, staring at the glowing little creature—a strange bug with a green "lantern" on its tail!

"Is this… a firefly?" Lisanna whispered, her voice barely audible, afraid to startle it. "It's my first time seeing one alive!"

Under the vast, endless starry sky, by the shimmering, dreamlike lakeside, the group of young friends sat around a warm campfire.

They swayed gently to the music, their faces lit with joyful smiles.

Countless green specks, like fallen star spirits, danced lightly around them, softly illuminating each young face brimming with joy and hope.

In that moment, time itself seemed to soften and stretch endlessly.

---

The next morning, as dawn barely broke, the group packed their simple belongings and set off. After two days of dusty travel, they finally arrived in Magnolia.

Stepping out of the station, the afternoon sunlight enveloped Lisanna like warm honey. She let out a soft "Wow!" her eyes wide and sparkling.

The cobblestone path under her feet was warmed by the sun, reflecting a gentle glow. The streets were lined with colorful shops!

The candy store's window was piled high with vibrant, glittering sweets; the bakery's aroma boldly invaded her senses; and there were shops with strange tools and weapons, their metal glinting coldly in the sunlight.

The signs were the most magical! Some had wooden birds flapping their wings, others featured clowns winking and grinning, leaving Lisanna dazzled.

The streets buzzed with activity—women with baskets, vendors pushing carts, burly men hauling sacks, all mingling in a lively, chaotic hum.

The shouts of vendors, the chatter and laughter of passersby, distant tinkling music, and the clatter of cartwheels on cobblestone blended into a vibrant song of life.

"Mira-nee, look, look!" Lisanna's face flushed with excitement as she grabbed Mirajane's arm, shaking it. "That cake! It's so big and pretty! And that sign with the dog—it's actually wagging its tail!"

"Mhm," Mirajane replied softly. Unlike her bouncy sister, she stood calmly, but her blue-brown eyes shimmered with curiosity.

Elfman, meanwhile, huddled nervously behind Mirajane, peeking out with half his head, cautiously scanning the surroundings.

As they passed through more bustling streets, a sudden wave of noise hit them, louder than anything before.

Laughter, gasps, and the sound of tables being slapped poured out like a heatwave from a distinctive building.

On its roof, a massive sign stood out—a pair of lively fairy figures dancing joyfully.

Lisanna tilted her head back, pointing at the letters on the sign, reading slowly, "F… a… i… r… y… T… a… i… l?"

"Fairy Tail?"

"That's right," Roger said with a warm smile. He reached out and pushed.

Creak— The heavy wooden door swung open.

"Welcome to Fairy Tail!"

Their eyes followed Roger's motion into the guild, instantly drawn to the lively crowd at the center of the hall.

The crowd was packed tight, bursting with gasps and exclamations:

"No way! It can do that?!"

"Look! It's all curled up! So soft! So awesome!"

"What's so awesome?" Lisanna's curiosity buzzed like a kitten's paw. She stood on her tiptoes, eagerly tugging at Roger's sleeve.

"Big brother Roger, let's go see!"

"Alright," Roger said, leading them toward the crowd. As they reached the edge, someone glancing back caught sight of them, eyes widening as they shouted, "Hey! It's Roger! Roger and Erza are back!"

"And they brought new faces!"

The shout rippled through the crowd like a stone in water. Instantly, dozens of eyes turned toward them!

"Eep!" Lisanna and Elfman flinched, their faces paling as they instinctively stepped back, nearly bumping into each other.

Mirajane stepped forward instinctively, her slim but steady frame like a wall, shielding her siblings from most of the stares. A faint, cautious glint flickered in her eyes.

Roger sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Come on, guys, don't stare like that—you'll scare the newbies off."

Macao scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "We're just curious! Including today, this is the second newbie our guild's taken in recently."

"Second?" Roger raised an eyebrow.

"Yup!" A lively, booming voice rang out from deep in the crowd, like it came with its own megaphone.

The crowd parted smoothly, revealing Cana, who was pulling along a small girl with shoulder-length blue hair.

Stopping in front of Roger, Cana raised her chin proudly and gently pushed the girl forward.

"Ta-da! This is a kid I met after finishing a job a couple of days ago. Her name's Levy!"

Levy, suddenly under a barrage of gazes, flushed bright red, like a ripe tomato.

Clutching her skirt tightly, she ducked her head, her voice barely a whisper. "H-Hi, R-Roger… big brother."

"I'm Levy… Levy McGarden. I use… Solid Script magic."

"Cana s-said…" Her voice grew quieter until it was inaudible, a puff of steam practically rising from her head.

Cana quickly chimed in, encouraging her, "Levy! Be confident! Didn't you say you wanted to be as awesome as me? If you form a contract with Roger, you might awaken some super cool magic!" She winked at Levy enthusiastically.

Thinking of Cana's amazing card magic conjuring manga and novels, Levy took a deep breath, clenched her tiny fists, shut her eyes tight, and shouted with all her might, "I… I want to form a contract with big brother Roger too!!!"

Realizing her tone came out too forceful, she deflated like a punctured balloon, adding in a mosquito-like whisper, "…I-I mean, if that's okay…"
