Chapter 163 - Chapter 167: Gundam Mecha vs. Dragon Knight

"Is… is this some kinda Requip magic too?!"

Erza stared at the white mecha, eyes wide, swallowing hard. Her face lit up like a kid spotting her dream toy.

"You can store this in Requip space?! That's—so freaking cool!"

Edolas-Lucy was losing it, smacking Lucy's shoulder like a hype machine.

"Look at it! Holy crap—it's insane! I've never seen anything like this!"

"Magic in the other world is on another level—they can just poof out something like that?!"

"I get that you're pumped—" Lucy winced, teeth gritted as her shoulder screamed, "but could you maybe hit a little softer?!"

Her eyes drifted to the super-obvious mechanical dragon horns on the mecha's head. A few black lines dropped down her forehead.

"(=_=) Yeah, this is definitely Daphne's work. Anything she touches has to have dragon vibes."

Right then, a soft beam shot from the mecha's chest, enveloping Roger.

He blinked out—and reappeared inside the cockpit.

Roger looked around, impressed. The walls were full-holo projections, giving a crystal-clear 360-view.

"Nice… aside from those kinda goofy dragon horns, it's exactly like the blueprints I gave Daphne."

He nodded, smirking. "Total score. Recruiting her was a genius move."

He placed his hand on the glowing console that slid out.

Blue light rippled from his palm like water, buzzing with faint electricity.

A crisp, robotic female voice echoed:

『Magic Crystal Power Core: Charging』

A low hum kicked in. The V-shaped crest on the mecha's head glowed bright blue.

White steam hissed from joints all over the massive frame. The dull eye sensors flared to life—sharp, golden optic lenses.

『Beep—Neural Link: Established』

A weird connection snapped into place. Roger felt his thoughts merge with the mecha—think it, and it moved, smooth as butter.

『Weapon Systems: Calibrated』

A massive sword clanged out from the right arm, its edge crackling with dangerous blue energy.

『Vector Thrusters: Responsive』

The huge pure-white mechanical wings unfolded with a metallic shink.

『Standby Ready』

『Wings of Judgment: Set Up』

With the boot-up command, a bold red reticle locked onto the distant Dragon Knight.

Data streams cascaded like waterfalls on either side.

『High-Energy Target Detected. Threat Level: Mid-Low』

『Engage Assisted Combat Mode?』

Roger's heart raced at the sci-fi voice.

"This is sick! Did they fuse a Lacrima AI core with the mecha?!"

He clenched a fist, eyes glued to the detailed weak-point analysis. Took a deep breath to chill the hype.

"Scratch that—Daphne's not a genius. She's a freakin' mad scientist!"

"Never thought I'd get to pilot a mecha in battle!"

Inside the Dragon Knight, the king finally snapped out of his shock.

He gritted his teeth, muttering like a pep talk.

"The other world's all about flashy magic!"

"Some fancy armor they pulled outta nowhere—bet it's just for show. No way it beats my Dragon Knight!"

Murder in his eyes, he slammed open the side armor panels—revealing rows of missile ports.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

A swarm of flaming missiles screamed toward Wings of Judgment like angry bees!

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!!

Explosions chained across the sky, fire and smoke swallowing the white mecha whole!

"HAHAHAHA!" The king cackled.

"Knew it—just a pretty toy! Can't hand—"

His laugh choked off like a strangled rooster.

Eyes bugged out. The smoke cleared—and the white mecha stood pristine, gleaming cold under the firelight. Not a scratch. Not even dust.

"H-HOW?!" His voice cracked, shrill with disbelief.

"Zero damage?!"

In the cockpit, Roger glanced at the popup: [Outer Armor Integrity: 100%]. He nodded.

"Solid. Daphne's special alloys plus embedded Iron Dragon Slayer crystals? That combo laughs at regular Great Wizard-class attacks."

"If we slap anti-magic crystal tech on this bad boy too… defense could skyrocket."

"Might even tank peak Great Wizard—or even nation-buster level magic head-on."

He grinned at the Dragon Knight.

"Defense test: passed. Now… power and speed."

One thought—blue particle streams blasted from the mecha's joints!

The giant sword's blade heated from base to tip, glowing red-hot like it was fresh from a forge, flames licking the edges.

Next instant—like a space jump—the massive white mecha vanished.

The king's gut dropped. He frantically scanned monitors—nothing but empty sky.

"Where'd he go?!"

"Wait—not just him—all his buddies disappeared too!"

BEEP BEEP BEEP!!

Alarms screamed! Damage report flashed—tail section icon blazing red!

"My—MY TAIL?! WHEN?!"

"No sound, no vibration—nothing?!"

Live feed from the stump: a mirror-smooth cut, metal still glowing dark-red from melt. Cold sweat poured down his face.

If it sliced the tail like butter… it could carve the whole Dragon Knight apart!

Eyes darting in panic—

Then—weird, rhythmic background music blared from the sky, oppressive and mocking. His heart lurched.

CLANG!

A soft metal tap from the left.

He panicked—unleashed everything at the sound.

BOOM!!

Left side cratered, smoke everywhere.

Missed!

His nerves frayed. That damn music, those ghost hits—his brain couldn't focus. Heart pounding like a drum.

"PLAYING MUSIC IN A FIGHT?!" he finally roared.

"Man up and face me fair!!"

The clanging kept coming—perfectly synced to the infuriating beat.

Every hit made his heart jump.

Eyes bloodshot, sanity crumbling under the cat-and-mouse game.

At this rate, the Dragon Knight would be dismantled piece by piece!

"DAMN IT—DAMN IT!! YOU FORCED MY HAND!!"

"I don't care what happens to this world anymore!"

"I JUST WANT YOU DEAD!!!"

Roaring, he slammed his fist into the red button under the glass cover.

CRACK!

Cover shattered.

Button down—something forbidden unlocked.

Black magic surged like rivers to the sea—from sky, earth, every corner of Edolas—flooding the Dragon Knight!

The capital shook, buildings groaning!

The mecha twisted, reformed—into a humanoid giant radiating terrifying energy!

Blinding white light erupted, a runaway sun—blasting everything around it!

The wave hit northwest—and stopped, deflected by an invisible wall.

In the light's glow, a massive mecha shadow loomed on the ground.

"GOT YOU!!"

Mad glee in his eyes, the king raised the now-pure-energy spear.

All power focused to the tip—a space-tearing flash—straight at the shadow!

CLAAAAANG!!!!!

Deafening metal crash! Sparks exploded like fireworks!

Wings of Judgment materialized, flaming greatsword parrying the energy lance!

Roger glanced at the updated threat: Mid-High. Raised a brow.

"Absorbs ambient magic to power up? Neat trick."

The two titans locked—energy shockwaves ripping the ruined ground, carving trenches!

Even far-off, Lucy and the others felt the gale slamming their faces, hair whipping wild.

Wendy peeked out from behind everyone, clutching Carla.

"Is… is Big Bro Roger gonna lose?" she whispered, worried.

"Probably… not," Lucy said, one hand pinning her hair, eyes locked on the blur.

"He sliced the tail off like nothing at the start. He could end this anytime."

"He's probably testing the mecha's limits."

"Not just testing," Erza added, arms crossed.

"The Dragon Knight itself is gold for Daphne's research."

"Too much damage = lost data. So he's keeping it controlled—no instant kill."

"Plus—look close. Every sword swing has faint red-purple and gold energy. Poison and lightning Dragon Slayer magic."

"He's using penetrating strikes to fry the internals—paralyze the mecha and the pilot from the inside."

Lucy squinted till her eyes hurt.

"(=_=) Uh… I just see light. That's it."

Mira giggled. "Yeah, when that creepy music kicked in, someone nearly jumped outta her skin~"

"DID NOT!!" Lucy's face went red, voice shooting up. She glanced away, grumpy. "It just… reminded me of some bad memories, okay?!"

"Aye~" Happy shrugged. "Lucy's such a scaredy-cat. Still traumatized from that horror illusion."

"Unlike me—totally over it!"

"Oh yeah?" Lucy smirked, eyeing him. "Pretty sure at the music's peak, when attacks were raining, a certain blue kitty let out a tiny 'wah!'?"

"N-NO WAY!" Happy snuck a glance at Carla, puffing his chest—tail stiff as a board. "You were hearing things 'cause you were scared!"

"Shh!" Lisanna hissed, finger up. "Quiet! Look—the Dragon Knight stopped!"

Everyone froze, staring.

The raging Dragon Knight was locked mid-thrust, spear raised—frozen like a statue, only chaotic energy crackling.

"W-What the—?!"

Inside, the king yanked controls, smashed buttons—veins popping.

Nothing. Not even a finger twitch.

"MOVE! DAMN IT, MOVE!! WHY WON'T YOU MOVE?!"

"Think I was just playing earlier?" Roger's calm voice boomed from external speakers.

Wings of Judgment stepped forward, flaming sword aimed at the chest.

"Normal magic can't scratch your anti-magic crystal shell—I confirmed that with the water blast test."

"But… word is, Dragon Slayer magic acts weird in a world with different magic rules."

"Test results? Iron Dragon Slayer works great."

"Every slash carried Lightning and Poison Dragon Slayer magic—vibrations carried it through the shell."

"Like needles, shredding key circuits and conduits from the inside—total internal shutdown."

The king's pupils reflected the enlarging flaming sword—terror gripped his heart!

Scorching heat bled through the cockpit walls—like being in an oven!

CRACK—!

The burning blade sliced a perfect circle in the chest armor—like a hot knife through butter!

Inside the hole: the king, pale and stunned!

A massive mechanical hand reached in, scooping the limp king out.

Wings of Judgment dissolved into white light. Roger floated mid-air, waving a hand—Dragon Knight vanished into his system inventory.

THUD!

No mecha = king faceplanted the ground.

The pain snapped him out of shock.

He looked up at the god-like black-haired youth. All his rage, madness, defiance—gone. Just exhaustion and defeat.

He sighed, head drooping.

"I… lost. Completely."

"Your magic, your tricks, your endless gadgets—even your armor outclasses our forbidden weapon…"

A bitter laugh. Tears rolled down, hitting the dirt.

"Why… why does Aslant get unlimited magic?!"

"Why can't Edolas have a future?!"

His voice cracked, raw with pain.

"We scrape by, hoarding every drop of magic—terrified it'll run dry…"

"No matter how much we save, how many alternatives we hunt—one day, it'll be gone."

"Even our last hope—the enhanced Anima… failed."

"How… pathetic."

He slumped, twenty years older in seconds. Hoarse whisper:

"Just kill me. Then no one'll ever eye your world's magic again."

Roger shook his head slowly.

"Your fate's not mine to decide."

"You are Mystogan's father, after all."

"As his guildmate… I'll leave you to him."
