Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Rain

"The world... It's so lively isn't it? It's all thanks to the people who live life to the fullest, they never tend to care about tomorrow... Never care about what is to come, never be alone. I envy them, I have everything and yet nothing... What is this feeling of loneliness?"

"I feel asleep again..." he said as he woke up to the alarm, the sunlight entered through the window with the breeze making the curtains dance, "I would have just said 'What a nice day!' if I were not like this perhaps?" he thought as he looked outside at the clear sky with an exhausted look when suddenly his phone rang.

"Good morning Mr. Imamura," said a bold male voice over the call, "Furukawa Haruto from Furukawa Services here, I had to discuss a few changes to our budget plan."

"Crap!" He screamed in his mind, "Ichiro isn't here... But this is a pretty big commission, I-I can't just let it go!" he thought as a feeling of unable to answer came onto him, he couldn't say a word, his heart beating hard, his breath getting shorter.

"Good... Morning..." He replied on the call gathering all of the strength he could, "Damn it!" he thought, "that sounded so slow and out of confidence."

"Ah, m-my apologies Mr. Imamura," replied the man again on the phone, "it's so early in the morning, I didn't check the clock. I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep, we can discuss this later. Please forgive me." he said as he cut off the call. Soon a soft knock was heard on the door.

"C-Come. In." He said again in that same shaky voice, the door opened revealing Ichiro wearing a shirt and trousers.

"My apologies," Ichiro said, "I woke a bit late."

Akito looked at him with a smile, and then took out a picked a small notepad and a pen from his table, scribbled something and then passed it to him.

'I don't want to go to work today. Drive me to the harbor, please?' were the words on it.

"Morning, Akito!" said a girl wearing an apron as she got the table ready while Akito approached the table with Ichiro, "Off to work?"

Akito again scrambled something on the paper held it up for her to see.

'No, not today. I wanna visit the harbor.' it said.

"Will you be alright? The forecast said it will rain today," she asked as she served the food on everyone's plates, "I mean that also means there won't be many people there either."

'That is the exact reason why I'm going.' he replied with another piece of paper.

They all sat down to have their breakfast, the two people talked and laughed at jokes they made up. Akio just looked and smiled at them, as if he was looking at some treasure that he had found.

"Okay, I'm all full!" said Ichiro as he and Akito got up from their chairs, "I'll get the keys, you can go sit in the car." Ichiro said as he went away.

"I'll keep lunch ready for you two," said the girl as she picked up the plates, "come back home fast-" she said as Akito put another piece of paper in her hand.

'Marry him already.' said the piece, she just blushed looking at it.

"Akito!" said Ichiro from outside, "We are all ready to go." Akito waved at the girl as he walked outside.

Akito turned the radio up, put the windscreen down, kept his elbow on the window and looked outside at the sky, it was all beautiful. A rainy day with the sky gone completely dark, ready to just pour it's heart out. Despite it all they drove on the highway, Akito smiled looking at the weather, as if it calmed him down, laid back on his seat and looked in front of him. The harbor was here, the water was raging perhaps a storm was on the way but maybe even that was beautiful according to him, his gaze still set on it. The place the car stopped might have been a place for a good cargo company, but it was definitely not the place to take a swim. They were at a harbor, the water raging there perhaps asking for something. They stood on the edge of the harbor, the distant ocean lied in front of them, a lonely sight. Akito looked at the sky with a kind smile and gazed into the dark horizon, Ichiro stood silently beside him.

"How much?" Ichiro thought looking at Akito, "How much more can u endure?"

Akito was adoring the view when his eyes landed on the breakwater that stretched a bit more further into the deep sea. It was a girl, trespassing the gate and running straight towards the edge while rubbing tears off her eyes with her arm.

"Why?!" she screamed in her head as she ran towards the very edge of the concrete path and finally reached the end of the path, all that lied between her and the deep raging water was nothing but a mere railing. She stepped over and went to the very edge of it, holding the railing from behind. She took a deep breath, her chest aching from pain, it was becoming harder for her to breathe with every second, "Idiot..." She whispered as she let go, the time was probably not very suitable of it but yet she had a peaceful feeling in her mind as she fell into the raging sea, "Why... Why would you do it? Why did you?" she thought as she sunk deep into the water, the surface went farther and farther away, her vision blurred out.
