The maid's eyes bore into my small form.
" I, i...i don't know. I just kind of did it," i stutter a reply with that cute innocence that a five year old should have.
The maid carried on staring, her eyes narrowed and intense. I took a submissive step back. "Little one, you do realise you're not allowed to learn magic yet...?" She asked the question as if she was talking to an animal.
In all honesty i hadn't heard anything that forbade me from learning magic, so i shook my head.
She looks deep into my eyes as if I'm lying, as if I'm dangerous, then her expression softens ever so slightly, "poor boy, listen if your moth-! if the mistress finds out about this then you will be banished at best... and at worst you could be executed." Her voice is calm and steady but it has an almost predatory edge. Her eyes narrow as if i've suddenly become prey, something she wants to play with until i'm broken and obedient.
"Did you know that i have a grand daughter who recently came of age," her voice is more seductive now. Her eyes and voice so different from her face, her wrinkles and smile make her seem like a lovely old lady but that voice cut into me with the power of a seductress. "She needs a fiance, and she is a little older than you, sweet boy." Her voice sent strange shivers down my spine.
She smiles, "How about a deal young one? Any time i catch you doing magic without permission you must spend a day with my grand daughter and in return i wont tell anyone about you practicing without permission." In all honesty the deal seemed like a good idea, a compromise and it meant she'd stop with that creepy grin.
I nod once to let her know i understand.
"Good boy, now lets get you ready for your birthday and later," she pauses and smiles predatorially, "later i'll introduce you to Emily."
